Music, Food, and Relaxation
I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. If you are thinking of staying in Negril, Westmoreland Jamaica W.I. at an upscale hotel, then I would suggest that you reconsider. I chose this hotel because it is budget friendly and in close proximity to the town. Here are some info that may be helpful in trying to make a decision on where to stay. Negril is in the two parishes of Hanover and Westmoreland. The hotels in Negril Hanover are Riu, Hedonism, Azul, Couples, etc. These hotels are all inclusive, located on the beach road, but they are not central. Examples of hotels in Negril Westmoreland are Legends, Kuyaba, Travellers, Rooms on the beach etc. These hotels are close to the town, where it is easily accessible to public transportation and restaurants. Legends Hotel, also has a sister hotel "Samsara" which is in West End. There is a bus that takes the guests from Legends to Samsara daily. Samsara is a modern hotel with the cliffs, an excellent view, and 3 pools, but there is no beach. My stay at Legends was only for sleeping. Please note that there are two Legends hotel. One is on the beach, and the other is across the street with a bigger pool. The folks who stayed on the garden side would cross the street to use the beach. A huge thank you to Ceasar, the security guard who makes it possible for all guests to cross the street carefully. He is the most humble, kind, professional gentleman who is patient and takes time to give valuable information to the guests if called upon. I stayed on the beach side of the hotel, and the bed was very comfy...slept well. The furniture seems to be antiquated; there were cobwebs in the closet and dust on the bed head. I only ate French fries at the restaurant, so I can't comment on the food. If interested in the food, you could eat and pay, or choose all inclusive, which would be breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The rooms which are closer to the beach, seems to be a bit more modern. These rooms are located above the restaurant..closer to the beach..however there is a club that plays music nightly. If the club music will disturb your sleep, then please think carefully about your room choice. Pertaining to the food, I had a good jamaican meal everyday at a reasonable price. For breakfast, there is Garth across the street from Legends. He is the #1 breakfast chef. Boil banana, dumpling, yam, plantain, callaloo, kidney, ackee and saltfish..everything tun up. If he did not have any meal that I wanted, then the next spot would be "Sweet Spot". This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have the natural juices..Beetroot, Sorrell, Cucumber Juice, Carrot Juice etc. The employees, are the best, and the food is tasty. Next is Chef Kelly. He is located right outside of Legends. Upon exiting the hotel grounds, he is to the right. He serves Jerk chicken, jerk pork, jerk shrimps, rice and peas, and soup. The food is so delicious, finger licking good. If you would like snacks, water, beer, sodas, juice, there is a mini mart across the street from Legends on the left. Very convenient and affordable prices. As for entertainment, you would be in the perfect location. On most nights there are free shows at Woodstock, Roots Bamboo, and Drifters Bar. The live bands really perform their hearts out. It felt like a free mini concert. A huge shout-out to Prince J and Harmony....entertainers who captivate the soul. Overall I would give Legends a 7. Everyone has different expectations, and whatever may be appealing to one person could be disgusting to another. It all depends on you, and my only suggestion is to go with your gut feeling. Hopefully some delicious food, relaxing music, sun and beach will put a smile on your face. Happy travels to you.
What can I say
Everyone should go to Negril at least once. Jamaica is amazing. Great food, great drinks, great weed. I'm 63 and have been going here for years. Every day is a new adventure. If you like music, beaches, drinks, good food, and no stress, You need to come here.
Nice for the price. Didn't care to see a top less woman daily at the beach
Legends is great for the price. My first time in Jamaica. We did all inclusive which wasn't bad if you're on a budget. Most of the staff were great. A few were not so friendly. The downfall was a top less woman on the beach. No one said anything to her. If I had wanted a top less beach I would have booked at that resort.
Great resort, the garden side was beautiful, and well maintaned, every one was very kind.Cesar was great,he always greeted us with a smile and made us laugh, made sure we were safe crossing the street.Shanise made us feel like family, she set up a great dinner spot for my birthday.Great place to visit and relax, the gift shop on sight was great and the lady in the gift shop was very nice and friendley.
Fabulous Stay - Fabulous Staff!
We stayed in a Garden View room on Beach Rd - Just steps across from main hotel lobby/dining on the beach area. Our room was maintained daily with fresh towels/linens. There are two pools on site. Both very well maintained! Food was fresh and drinks were lovely. Gift shop and shuttle service onsite. Shuttle rides to many attractions (Rick's Cafe, Margaritaville, Appleton Rum Factory, Mayfield Falls, Blackriver Safari, Dunn's River Falls, Bob Marley birthplace etc.) Sister hotel Samsara was beautiful (free shuttle) - 2 clean pools (1 being an infinity pool), breathtaking views of the cliffs - with steps to walk down. Staff lovely as well. Times Square Plaza just steps across the street - lots of shopping/souvenirs to choose from. We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Legends! Cesar, hotel's security guard is top notch, he made sure we crossed the street safely - he was always ready to escort us onto the premises whenever he saw us. Chicketa 'CCC' is lovely, she escorted us to our room and checked in from time to time to be sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Jennifer, Marie & Tedeisha worked in the dining/bar area - they all made sure we had what we needed, whenever we needed without ever having to wait! Live music on Saturdays in the dining area was exceptional! Beach security is excellent - Michael never skipped a beat. He too made sure we had what we needed and felt safe at all times - never an issue! Service overall was A++++++ We plan to go back again Summer of 2023!!
