Chill, Fun Vibe
Stayed Jan 18-24, 2023 Pros: Fun kinda 60-70's decor. Great eating on the beach at Lava Lava club. Fun evenings with live music, outdoor games for kids or adults, sev fire pits to sit around. Really luv'd the evening vibe sitting on our lanai! Nice to have the free morning yoga classes daily to get you ready for the day. Staff were friendly & helpful. King bed comfortable. Cons: Bathroom vanity area small, made it difficulty for hubby & I to get ready at the same time. Rooms need little more updating to improve the signs of wear/tear. Service at Lava Lava pretty slow so don't go if in a hurry BUT the food was good, decent pricing. Only ate there for breakfast's. For the price, we would stay here again!

Wonderful hotel!
I had to change my accommodations at the last minute and found this lovely gem! Rooms were clean, staff was very helpful and Lava Lava Beach Club, the restaurant on site, was amazing! And the price was very reasonable for a hotel on the beach with a pool and hot tub. One of the highlights of our trip was taking out the free bikes for a ride along the coast!

Glorious setting, exceeded expectations
Loved our overnight stay and took full advantage of the fabulous gardens, free bikes, yoga and beachfront. Staff were friendly and helpful. The free beachside yoga session was the perfect way to start the day. And a seal even joined us on the beach. Definitely recommend for a genuine Hawaiian experience!

Loved Kauai Shores
I loved this hotel. It’s located in Ka’Paa, just a few miles north of the Lihue Airport. From the standpoint of luxury, it’s not a 5 star resort like some of those in Poipu. It’s a mid priced (by Hawaii standards!), older hotel that has been refurbed in Art Deco style. Open air lobby, beachfront, 2 pools and hot tubs, on site restaurant, the Lava Lava Beach Club, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (very good food, excellent coffee, great bar - it is all open air as well). From the standpoint of service, it is five stars PLUS. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. Front desk staff was tremendous, parking attendants, housekeeping, bartenders, restaurant servers, gardeners (grounds are beautifully kept), maintenance- everyone we encountered was lovely. You pay a daily resort fee of $22 per room, but there is a lot included with that. Yoga on the beach. Valet parking is free, and you may wish to use it, as the parking lot can get very full. In addition to the Lava Lava, there are several very good restaurants near to the hotel. The Hukilau Lani is next door - highly recommend. Gaylord’s is also not far. I loved the laid back vibe of this hotel. They organized a vintage muu muu show one evening, and judging from the attendance, it was thoroughly enjoyed.
