This Marriott resort does not live up to J W standards, it is more of a regular Marriott. Cushions on pool chairs were ripped and dirty, rooms are very average. Reception staff was not able to help or didn't know how to help. Cleaning crew didn't refill shampoo and body wash. Also, it is a 1.5-2 hour ride from the airport. If you are looking for a high end experience don't go to this resort.

Poor customer service. The service is slow and there is a lack of adequate staff to help attend to guests at the pool. Our bartender was friendly, but we had to order directly from the bar. The service and rooms do not reflect the price point. I was surprised that there was a lack of friendly service to the guests.

Very average hotel, mediocre food and uneven service
You can do a lot better at this price point than this hotel. The property itself is in a nice location but the property owner/operators do not measure up to most of the JW Marriotts we have stayed at or to other similarly priced tin Costa Rica. A few observations: (1) This resort is vastly overpriced for the experience. The rooms are basic hotel rooms and there is nothing luxurious about them. For example, when we arrived, one of our bath towels was stained, the furniture is old and dinged up, and the room smelled musty throughout our visit. (2). The food is not good. Avoid the Asian restaurant - the sushi was bad and they are badly understaffed. We had a reservation and it still took forever to get our food. When had lunch at Azul, our order came after another larger table which seemed to be made up of family or friends of the owners because they were treated like royalty and we only got our food after complaining to the manager. (3) The hotel outsourced tours and experiences and were clearly focused on selling certain tours rather than catering to the individual needs of their guests.

A really exceptional spot!!! I don’t grade 5/5 for anything other than excellent and this did not disappoint. Bonvoy Platinum Elite was a really great experience and you felt special so well done to the entire team. Room upgrade to ocean view was A+ Staff awesome Food fantastic Rooms a tad dated but air conditioning is as an 11/10 so makes up for it and really silent Accommodated our ask to have kids next door without a problem All in all A+ to the team

Loved it!
The staff are so friendly and helpful! The service was pretty prompt at the restaurants and the grounds are very clean and well-kept. The pool is amazing and the view of the beach is beautiful, especially after sunset. We booked excursions through the hotel tour desk and everything was great! We definitely want to return!!
