We stayed here while visiting Key West as a family, we booked 2 rooms. Both rooms were very spacious and clean, and had everything we needed to cook if we wanted to. A 10 minute walk to the grocery store does the trick. What we loved most was the property with its gorgeous vegetation, pool, and balconies with chairs and hammocks. It was a little piece of heaven. The price was fair considering the great location (10 minute walk to Duval street and the harbor). The staff was very helpful and kind. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely book again if we return to the Keys.

Historic, beautiful, welcoming
Historic, tropical, paradise. We stayed in suite 2, my husband and two teenage kids late July 2025. Wonderful self catering apartment in the heart of the old town. So much character. Helpful friendly staff. Great value bike hire. Oh a Burt, the cute on site cat to pet too! Would highly recommend.

Short trip, celebrating our anniversary.
We stayed at the island city house, celebrating our anniversary, June 5th- June 8th . We have been going to Key West every year, since we got married there 11 years ago. We try to find new properties to explore. But, this is our favorite by far. Check in was a breeze, Annette was an angel! She helped make our visit wonderful! The room was spacious , clean and well appointed. Everything we needed was easily accessible. The hotel is close to everything, you can easily walk to many delicious eateries, and shop your heart away. Parking can be tricky, so we opted for the lot parking on Southern . The grounds are simply stunning , one of the best in my opinion in Key West. The property is quiet, the pool was a welcoming relief after biking around the island . Do yourself a favor , make sure you visit the beaches of Fort Zachary Taylor. Snorkeling around there will make your trip even more memorable. The beach is clean, and the water is gorgeous . At the time of our visit, Smathers beach was mostly seaweed and not inviting . We had a wonderful time celebrating at Island City House! You will not be disappointed.

Jun 06, 2025Hostile night manager
A homeless man camped out on our balcony one night. He paced back and forth, mumbling and swearing loudly to himself right outside our flimsy french doors. I fully expected him to come crashing in at any moment. When I called the night manager, he said he would come and take care of it. After 90 minutes, I called back. The night manager, who had clearly been asleep, claimed he had come and not seen anything. I asked him to come back, and he swore at me and told me to just deal with it! Unbelievable!

Mar 15, 2025Basic Accommodations with pretty grounds
Stayed here for 5 nights for a birthday celebration. The grounds were gorgeous and the location is perfect. The accommodations are basic and need updating to justify the 500+ per night costs. Everywhere you look it’s apparent the accommodations aren’t well maintained. Received two $5 vouchers for breakfast, which was sad compared to comparable accommodations. We spoke with others and saw similar accommodations that were much nicer and better maintained than this hotel. Left disappointed as we wanted a special stay and it was just not great. Recommend staying elsewhere on the island if you want a special stay.
