Yearly stay to RSNA
I have been coming to this hotel for two weeks during RSNA for five years now, and it feels like I am visiting friends. Except for a few new colleagues, the breakfast service staff are still the same. That is something very special. All services, such as the quality of the food, professional service at the reception, and efficient housekeeping, are of a very high standard. I have already secured my stay for the next RSNA2026 and am looking forward to it.

Definitely Not 5*
Quite disappointed with this stay, particularly the room.... 1. Walls were marked up / wallpaper torn and in need of repair. Very shabby. 2. The bathroom was a joke. Not only tiny, but in order to stand at the sink I needed to first navigate to the side of the toilet and then close the door behind me in order to get to it. Then the door swings back in and 'traps' you at the sink... But that issue paled in comparison to the fact the walk-in shower is more than 50% exposed and only featured a partial glass partition. (A ridiculous set-up.) As a result, the water goes EVERYWHERE when showering so it then takes several towels to mop up the very slippery marble floor itself after each use. Adding to the frustration was the lame shower nozzle that delivered limited pressure. (I would have gotten a better shower standing outside in the rain.) 3. This stay was a waste of IHG points, and at the end of the day I was just thankful I didn't spend money on this room... And yet even though I didn't pay anything for the room I, perplexingly, still had to pay taxes on something that had no dollar value??? 4. This stay was a "one and done" for me... On my next visit to Chicago, I intend to return to the (wonderful) Gwen Hotel located right across the street, which is a true 5* experience.

Mutton dressed as lamb! Tired old, loud and moldy, but charging premium rates with indifferent management.
I booked the Intercontinental Chicago for location, comfort and a 5 day getaway & meeting with my girlfriend. We arrived and were greated by D**** who was friendly and welcoming at the front desk. He suggested an upgrade to a suite (for additional cost), which I agreed to as my partner would be working online while I attend a meeting. Part of the upsell was that the tower with the suite had been recently upgraded "and everything was new". The suite (2668) is located on the 26th floor (top floor) with great views We dropped our bags and headed out for dinner, and when returning discovered that there were large areas of cracked paint with black mold on the ceiling of the lounge area, the bathroom paint is peeling and there is mold along the bathroom wall. The ceiling fixtures have rusted chrome ... it was VERY far from new. There is no in-room workspace / desk in the suite which I found very odd. We were kept awake by a lady next door having a loud and annimated conversation through a paper thin connecting door (absolutely no sound insulation) ... turns out she was making calls, (presumably to different time zones) until 4:30am ... we knocked on the door a few times and she would quieten down for a bit, and we finally texted management who did send someone up to request quiet ... this lasted 15 minutes. and when our neighbour finally slept, there was loud snoring! Night manager offered to give us a hotel coupon for local hotel credit of $75 on a ruined night with no sleep, in a room they are charging over $400 per night for. I have not written negative reviews before, but the hotel has failed to invest in the guest experience (No sound insulation though interleading door, black mold that takes weeks and months to grow), and is not able to take responsibility after charging premium pricing. The mold and general tired fixtures with peeling paint being misold as "New" when it must have been there for weeks to months! I can only advise AVOID AVOID AVOID until you see independent reviews suggesting that there has been a change in management attitudes and revamp of the rooms. This will take time, so if these reviews arrive in a rapid fashion know the marketing department has been going up a gear! Pictures are worth a thousand words! I will update if Day management have different opinions to night management

Beautiful hotel!
We stayed here for one night. We were greeted by one of the valet employees who was very professional and gave us clear instructions as to how valet parking works. Including the cost per night and how it was going to be billed. The lobby is beautiful. The front desk staff were very kind. The hotel is clean and so are the rooms. I will say the windows are thin so you can hear a lot of outside noise but that is no fault of anyone as it's an old building and is to be expected. The room has a mini fridge with a variety of drinks. They also have snacks. All items come at a cost; of course. Traveler tip: If you do valet parking, be prepared to wait on your car when it's close to check out time. Which is expected since everyone is trying to check out around the same time. We waited around 15 minutes but didn't mind. Just letting travelers know in case you're in a hurry. We will stay again!
