    Not luxury, but….

Stayed here after a bad experience with Beloved, not sure why the Excellence brands are failing at service. In any case here is our run down: We stayed the week before Christmas in a preferred club king ocean view, it was not at capacity which was wonderful for us but I would definitely not stay here during peak season due to dinner being a hassle. The Good -The layout and design of this resort. Whomever designed this extremely efficient yet beautiful use of the space deserves an award. Form and function were both center stage at this resort and we loved it. It is stunning. -The pools are simply amazing. They were clean while we were there. -Comfortable pool seating. -Vibe, we enjoyed the play at your leisure beach games. -Drink and Food menu options were numerous. -Check-in and Check-out were seamless. The front desk employee was friendly and upbeat. Could do without the sales pitch, but we knew we booked a Secrets and quietly listened and then offered a firm No Thank You and were left alone. -the Italian restaurant was great, Enrique was outstanding. Try the four cheese pizza. -The Mexican restaurant was a standout and we usually don’t visit the Mexican restaurants. Try it! -Paper menus! You have to ask and the only place that gave us attitude was the Mexican restaurant, and she only gave us 1. -Room service was fast and hot. -Roof top pool was amazing, Jamie offered great service. -Most comfortable bed in the Cancun area! The Needs Improvement: -Service everywhere. While Jamie at the Roof top pool was great we did not sit in his section, I think he felt bad for us because our waiter would show up once a day and bring one round of drinks and then disappear. -Housekeeping only arrived 2 out of 5 days. We did call for items and they were prompt but at this price point we should not have too. Also we were out of the room from 10 to 5 daily. -Minibar only restocked 1 out of 5 days. This was a big problem becuase apparently bottled water is premium around here. We could not find a bar to restock our water. Had this been summer we would’ve had heat stroke. -Turndown service 0 out of 4 nights. Really? Again at this price point this is ridiculous, and we never even saw a cart on our floor. -Room cleanliness-Ewwww. So we packed light and I left behind my Clorox wipes I always bring but never use and Murphys Law was in full effect. I needed them. The phone looked like an 8th grade science experiment with all the types of things growing on it. Same with the mirror in the bathroom. The high touchpoint surfaces wear just slimy and the deck bed looked like it had never been cleaned. That said the bedding was clean, the toilet was clean, and the shower minus the mirror were all clean. I did not expect it to be so gross! -Coffee bar always out of something. -Drinks, we enjoyed the variety but the execution was poor. First, even in the preferred club you will get well drinks. Absolute is thier top shelf vodka, Jim Beam for bourbon, I felt like we were teleported back to college. And we aren’t big drinkers, only vacation and holidays. -Service and Drinks, you can order from the menu but don’t expect to get the drink you ordered. This happened multiple times. The worst was Bamboo bar, the bar tender literally used all the same ingredients for Dark and Stormy and Tikitano, go ahead look it up on the app, there is only 1 ingredient in common. He made it with one ingredient not in common. -And yes, I can confirm dinner is an unforced error. They have more venues available, but they were not open for dinner. So everyone fights for seating. Not exactly a start to a romantic evening everyone wants. We got down there between 6 and 6:30 and had to wait 30 to 45 minutes, and that was for all restaurants, not just the popular ones. I can’t imagine what that’s like at capacity. -Beach massage vendors will hassle you all day and the secrets beach guy will do nothing. Also, last day there the beach servers all stood around talking to each other for 3 hrs and did not serve anyone. So again not great service. Hopefully they can improve to justify their price point. It was really pretty!

Excessive Dinner Wait Times Ruin Secrets Moxche

What happened to this place? Every night the wait for dinner is 2-3 hours at all the restaurants. And even if you are in the preferred room, you'll never get a reservation for hibachi. It is not relaxing, not peaceful and not the type of vacation I wish to have with my family. Based on recent reviews and in the private Facebook groups for this resot, this is a known and persistent issue, I wish I saw those reviews before coming here. Have never had this at any AI in DR or Mexico. I have a return trip booked for Thanksgiving 2026 (the rest of the property is wonderful) but if these reviews of excessive waits continue, and Secrets does not do anything, I will definitely be cancelling my upcoming stay and encourage others to book elsewhere too. Some tips for the hotel: Staff up, the waits are excessive and many tables are empty; open the buffet for dinner (taco cart is not a substitute). Just do better buy your guests who paying a lot of money.

    Christmas Vacation

We reserved two non preferred rooms at Secrets Moxche for our Christmas family vacation with our two adult children during the week of Christmas. We have been to over 20 resorts in Mexico so I will just focus on some pros and cons of this resort. You can decide if any of these matter to you when selecting an all inclusive resort. After so many, this helps me. Pros -Loungers have thick pads at some of the pools -Pool and restaurant service is great. -They have a cafe open 24 hours and serve delicious cappuccinos. -Food delivery box in room. -Live music at pool. -Rooms are beautiful and modern with accent lighting. We had a tub on balcony. Automated blinds and blackout curtain provided. Air conditioning works well. Bed is comfortable. -Most of the food is good and comes out hot. -Lots of seafood options. -Breakfast and lunch buffet was a great option to have to get in and back out to the pool. Wish they offered a buffet at dinner time as well. -7 different pools with different vibes and they are clean. Pools didn’t feel heated but weren’t freezing. -They clean the rooms early if you’re out of them. -Nightlight in the toilet room. -Magnifying mirror in the bathroom. -Three elevators per building. -Use your phone as a key. -Pool towels are plentiful and you can have as many as you want. -Limited food options at pool but you have to go and order it yourself. -Live music at pool in afternoon. -On site pharmacy available. Cons -Softer, instrumental, chill background music playing in speakers by pool drove me crazy all week. -Cobblestone sidewalks/pathways everywhere are very uneven and difficult to walk on. Unsafe. -Rooms are very dark. Dark lighting. -No tub in the room. -TV in room is ridiculous to control. Very few English channels. They give you instructions on how to run it. -Tub on balcony is not jetted. Was only cleaned once during our stay. No way to have privacy on balcony. Unable to turn off balcony light. -Beach is rocky and ocean is brown and murky. Massage vendors hound you every 20 feet. -Sand is everywhere. No foot showers at beach. Only full showers. People would come from the beach filled with sand and rinse their legs and feet off in the pools. -Huge sandy cenote style pool is a waste of a beautiful pool. I wish it didn’t have sand all around it. I wish it was a regular pool. -No reservations for dinner and tried to eat at 845 and ember had 39 tables ahead of us, allora had 22 ahead and Mexican had 11. Long wait at restaurants then long wait for food. This was the biggest con and reason we wouldn’t return. We even tried to eat at 6 and still had a 1-2 hour wait. Steaks at steakhouse were not edible. Suki Japanese was best restaurant. -Sit down lunch restaurants took 2 hours minimum to eat. -Lots of mosquitos. Never saw them spray here. Got bit several times and we never usually get bit. -Pool bathrooms are 6/10. Very dark. Floors constantly wet. The soap dispenser was out of soap every day. -Minimal top shelf liquor. No Crown Royal available for non preferred. -No snacks in room. -Couldn’t get into hibachi anytime during our stay. Unavailable for two weeks. -Chair game is very strong here. Had to be down by 8 am to get the chairs we wanted. There’s not enough loungers available for guests. -Little nightlife. -On site spa prices very expensive. $259 for massage. If the price is right, we would come back again-and maybe during an off season time. This resort cannot accommodate feeding guests at high capacity or having that many chaise pool loungers.

A Great Experience at Secrets Moxche

Overall, my experience at Secrets Moxchewas excellent. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the baggage handlers and welcomed with a glass of champagne. The check-in process was seamless, and Daniel was very attentive and addressed all of our questions. The Property • This location is very well kept, and you’ll see the grounds staff attending to any small item that may seem out of place. This attention to detail elevates the feel of the resort, and this level of care is very well noted. • There are so many small nooks and hidden spots where you can chill and relax. I don’t know if I just kept getting lucky, but we always found a shaded chair to relax by the water. The food and towel attendants in these areas provided exceptional service, and they were definitely tipped because the service was that good. Activities • The activities team does a great job of making guests feel welcome and engaged. Gabriella was a breath of fresh air, and her friendliness was appreciated. She did a great job of making us feel welcomed, enticing us, and keeping us informed on upcoming events. Miguel also kept beach volleyball really exciting and invited me to play while I was watching the game. Food • I come to resorts to enjoy great meals, and it’s disappointing when the food isn’t good. That wasn’t the case at Secrets Moxche, as I enjoyed the majority of my meals. The buffet has great options, and I could always find something I enjoyed. • Note: there isn’t a buffet for dinner, which could be a great opportunity for this resort, as I didn’t always want to eat at a restaurant for dinner. Despite this, there were food stands available to guests that included tacos, taquitos, ribs, and burgers. The guy attending the taco stand was great! • I didn’t find it to be an issue that you aren’t able to make reservations for the restaurants. I only found myself waiting at the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this resort and would consider staying again

    Unacceptable wait for dinner

We are currently at this hotel from the UK for 2 weeks. We are experiencing 2/3 hours wait per evening to eat. It’s the only hotel AI I’ve ever been to that doesn’t open the buffet restaurant on the evening. This would decrease waiting times and take away a couple of hundred covers. We are now having to queue to get a drink! 20/30 mins no waiter service as it’s too busy. We know it’s a big hotel but it seriously cannot cope when it’s full. Sad and very disappointing. We’ve got another week of queues….I know us Brits love a queue but this takes the biscuit especially for the price of rooms!!!!
