Enjoy the Jamaican hospitality!!
Just got back from a short trip to Selection Rose Hall Suites. This was my 12th trip to the Suites - first as a solo traveler as my husband was not well enough to travel this time. My trip to the Suites was eye opening! Most of the other resorts along the Ocean are still closed . Projected openings - August, September, November.... So may blue tarpaulins covering roofs of houses! The staff was phenomenal. When they found out I was by myself, they went out of their way to take care of me!! Special shout out to Prestige Lounge Staff - Saskia, Toni-Ann, Javena, Laura, Cedric and Jevon. Prestige Beach - Kacia, Chad, Anecia, Leroy, and Syrene . Breakfast Buffet - Tiana, Simone, Kelisha, Dickeshia. While there is still some "fixing up" being done, the work did not effect my stay. Restaurants were open - usually with one closed on a rotating basis. Went to Gala Night at the Buffet - amazing!! Lobster, shrimp (many varieties), beef, lamb ... and really good desserts!! As they are fixing up the area around the Beach Club - there was some construction noise, but I could still relax and enjoy the beach!! They were putting rope lines to designate private area. They also started the construction of an open air shower, with the hopes of a bathroom for the Club area!! We always use RGS travel for our transfers - Ryan is a great guy!. I did Club Mobay for the first time as I was by myself. It was definitely worth on arrival as I was met by my "guide" as I got off the plane and she stayed with me until I met with my ride. I was able to get a quick beverage at the lounge as my ride was waiting for me. For the way home - it was not that much of an advantage. Actually the check-in at the Mobay line was slower than the other lines. Guess it would depend on time of day and how busy the airport was. The departure lounge was very nice. Buffet provided minimal options. I can't wait for trip #13!!

A Resilience Story: Beauty Amidst the Waves.
A Resilience Story: Beauty Amidst the Waves My recent stay at Iberostar Waves left me with a deep appreciation for the resort's physical beauty and resilience. Even in the wake of a hurricane, the property remains stunning. The grounds are lush, the views are breathtaking, and the effort put into maintaining the aesthetic charm of the hotel is evident everywhere you look. It truly is a paradise that has stood strong against the elements. However, while the scenery is five-star, the atmosphere within the main buffet during breakfast and lunch tells a much darker story. The Buffet "Battlefield" While a buffet should be a place of relaxation, the main dining hall often felt like a battlefield. This tension wasn’t due to the guests, but rather a glaring lack of leadership and professional harmony. Leadership Failures: I spent a significant amount of time observing the operations, and it was disheartening to watch the supervisor, Livingston, interact with his team. His approach to leadership is, frankly, poor. He speaks to his staff with a condescending tone, treating them as if they are beneath him or lacking intelligence. The Human Element: It was painful to watch. A successful operation relies entirely on the hard-working staff who keep things moving daily. There seems to be a total lack of "human love" or mutual respect from management toward the front-line workers. Service Issues: Unfortunately, this toxic atmosphere seems to trickle down. My server, Opal, demonstrated a consistently unprofessional attitude. Whether it was a result of the environment or personal choice, her demeanor was cold and unpleasant. Final Thoughts. It is a shame that such a magnificent physical location is being overshadowed by a stressful work culture. The staff are the heartbeat of any resort, and they deserve to be treated with dignity regardless of their position. If Iberostar Waves wants the guest experience to match the beauty of its shores, they need to address the leadership style in the dining area. Great service cannot exist where there is no respect for the people providing it.

Iberostar a 4 star
Food, staff and weather were very good. Beach and ocean rocky, muddy and lots of seaweed. Room was okay, but we were above the sports bar and it was extremely noisy from 9pm to 2:30pm. We discussed with the front desk to no avail. Safe did not work and took 4 hours to get resolved. Other parts of the room was good. Nice bathroom and bed. Mini bar restocked everyday. Cleaning staff did a good job. Italian, Japanese, Smokehouse and buffet restaurants the best in the Caribbean. Only reservation required for the Japanese restauurant. The hotel just opened from the hurricance just before Christmas. They have done a very good job getting it repaired. Price of the trip was good and likely the cheapest it will ever be in Jamaica. We only did the Luminous Lagoon. What a cool experience.

Nicest staff you will ever find
We had a great experience! Super friendly staff, and the entertainment crew -- Vanessa, Nelly, Stretch, and Reflex, were awesome. The pool and beach games, and sports bar entertainment were fun and just enough without being over the top. The vibe in Jamaica is so chill. If you've ever been to Mexico, you'll get it. The base attitude of everyone is very different. Very chill. Yah mon. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We had an ocean front and ocean view. The buffet was decent. Not great not terrible. The steak house was great. Filet and lobster was yum. Lunch outside everyday was great. From noon on thru the evening there is Jerk chicken, rice and peas (red beans), and curry chicken patties (empanada ish) on the beach. They chop the chicken right in front of you and slap it on a plate . It's amazing. 2nd time in Jamaica and it won't be our last. Trish, Brian, Charlie and slacker Jack from KC.
