Place is a bit rundown, food is ok, some staff members are rude
Keily at the front desk was very rude. Her attitude and discrimination ruined my family's vacation

Resort needs improvements/ better transportation on groundss
We have visited 28 plus 4&5 star, resorts in the Maya region to Akumal. We have travelled and visited many islands and the top resorts we have stayed at up to 2 weeks. We chose the Iberostar chain of resort and have stayed at all now and previously loved the service, staff, decor, grounds and many positive remarks. This resort we arrived at 1015pm so no restaurants open for food.We arrived on 27 Dec 7nights taking in N.Y.s celebrations. Checking I asked the man how to get some food as a very long day we had. He says go on line. Got to our room and on the net tried to get food, no luck, phone just rang. I called operator and she requested what I wanted (pizza, pine apple and ham. Boy delivered in 45min. I noticed burned too much on the bottom and top, NO pine affple or ham. Asked why, boy turns around and walks fast back to elevator. One day I asked for a ride as wished to see a sunset. Delivers me in the dark on a beach, and takes off. Cold, no chairs ect as waited1 hr and beach person says NO sunrise here up by lobby. Trouble getting a ride and walked far (sr. man, back problems). There was No carts available on this resort to give rides, few on resort and drivers few, working bell boy duties only. Long resort too walk we felt for medical reasons and slight hills to climb, then a walk to beach but NO rides back. This is a family resort and was crowded with young children who screamed and very noisy even in the big pool where adults around. The noise from pushing chairs ect. in buffet/restaurant area was too loud and not comfortable for us. Food sufficent but many times out from burner and cold. Same items each day. The threater not much qualtiy entertainment and very load till 1130. Also entertainers had trouble with power outlets, their music was stopped. We attented the Christmas buffet. Most of the food cold, no heat used to keep food warm. The deserts in a very poor location in the entrance and entering we were not told we had to come out again to get a desert. We and more people did not get a desert! This celebration event was very disappointing as compaired to other Iberostar resorts. We felt that the staff could be a little more friendly when meeting them walking. It is 45miles from P. Valarta, no bus ride return so rented a larger bus. If family with smaller children you could have fun! The resort should have better use of cart transportain and better entertaiment musical, singers we felt. Not recommending this resort for the elderly or singles. After their up keep improvements and better service, more staff and employees might be back. Lovely sunsets, sand changing colors, flat beach, more chairs, tables would make more tourist enjoy the ocean as now NO nice loungers

Only a two star resort
We have been here many times before, last time we visited was 2023 until this January 2026, Since then there has been an unbelievable change quality of accommodations and food. It has dropped from a four star to a two star resort

Great hidden gem!
Fabulous resort! The food at the buffet is excellent; fresh fish and seafood, well prepared and very tasty! The specialty restaurants are good, but honestly the buffet was better for variety of food. The resort is beautiful, very lush and beautiful mountain scenery surrounds it. It is a distance to a town so if you are looking for 'action' this is not the place. The pool is large and plenty of seating....no issues finding a good spot! The staff are very accommodating; rooms are clean and modern with water stations located throughout the complex to refill when needed.....no waiting for water to be brought to you. The beach may be the only 'downside'. Not great and a bit of a hike - and down an elevator to get to. The scenery from the upper bar deck is spectacular; watching the pods of whales go by on a daily basis was something to see! Bar staff are fabulous and the drinks are very good - and unique. Well worth a visit to this resort as long as you are not looking for late night partying. The Superbowl spread the hotel created was fabulous; creative and fun....and viewing the game from the disco on a large screen was very entertaining! All in all our two weeks at this resort were wonderful, relaxing, fun; and excusions into local towns was a good break away from the resort. Highly recommend a visit! You won't be disappointed.

Not a 5 star resort by any means
My wife and I visited over Christmas and were very disappointed. The resort itself was very nice as were the staff. That’s where it stopped. The only hot item we had was the fresh made omelet each morning. The rest of the food was barely lukewarm. All the meat items we had wherever we ate was very overcooked and dry. The tepanaki was only so-so and a mediocre presentation by the chef. This resort needs to really apply itself in order to call itself a 5 star resort
