SAVE YOUR MONEY GO TO IBEROSTAR TUCAN OR QUETZAL !!!!

My husband and I travel to many different Iberostar hotels. Maya was on our list. ONLY the restaurant staff was the best memory. All the rest of the staff were very rude. They can care less after check in. Food wasn’t good like other Iberostar’s . They very pushy about selling “The Club” and book a tour on your vacation time. Get ready to WALK a lot from one point to another!!! The disco and DJ were HORRIBLE! We left after 2 nights! WE WILL NEVER COME BACK ! Save your money and time. This place is NOT worth it!

Family trip with Starfriends Alexei & Daniela

We stayed for 10 days at this amazing Resort, having a lot o among times with two special people,Alexei and Daniela from the entertainment staff. They engaged us in activities and came to us regularly to talk and keep us entertained We loved it and we highly recommend Iberostar and especially their entertainment staff. The rooms, restaurants and especially the bars were on a par well above previous resorts that we have visited. A great place to have a family vacation.

Still amazing, but noticed aging rooms and lots of change this time around

This was my 10th time at this particular resort. It was a pleasure as always. I did however notice more changes than ever before. Not all for the best. We had a group of 7 adults. The reservation policy had changed. Before you could make reservations for every restaurant on arrival and had your times and locations for dinner booked in for the week. Now you only need to book 2 of the many options, and we could only get into one. But they fill up fast. We had to be there for 5:30 when they open to be able to get a table for all 7 of us. It worked but I would have rather eaten an hour later. If you by the Club package you can book reservations. But it’s not worth the extra money. They seem to be taking away some of the perks that were always there and having them only for The Club members now which is annoying. If you had never been there before you wouldn’t know this, but I certainly noticed a difference. The resort itself was just as awe inspiring as always. Beautiful scenery and lots of different areas to relax for the day. Pool, beach, wave pool, water slides! Lots to do! Fire show, theatre, games, the mall. The snacks in the room were underwhelming. They used to have lime nuts every day refreshed and left us a bottle of tequila to either drink or take home. Not now. No tequila. Also the snacks now come in tiny jars. Which they do not fill daily. They left us chips that were literally crumbs. The little cookies they leave are yummy like shortbread. Great green initiative but failed to keep them filled up. The condition of our room in building 62 was aging. The lovely paint techniques they had in the bathrooms previously were completely worn off. Our bathroom jet tub jets were filthy and had previous grunge in them from others baths. I don’t use the tub as a rule, but I did have a sore body and wanted to one night but decided against it because I felt it was dirty. We never had towel animals or fun things left in our room, not necessary but it ads to the Mexican vacation feel. Nodda. Our couch in the room was worn out and not comfortable to sit on. The water is now bottled by yourself at fill stations which is fine. The bottles are glass and really heavy. Not overly friendly for carrying to the beach in your bag. I do see the initiative they are making to be green and that’s great, just some things feel more bulky and not vacation friendly. I noticed the bartenders were not as keen to give you fresh fruit in your drinks. They wanted to always buy bananas flavour instead of real bananas in drinks. Not as good. I don’t recall this ever happening before. I went for a fresh juiced drink at the juice bar and literally all he had was apples and cucumbers. I mean it was good, but not what I would have picked. I remember it always looking like a fresh fruit stand at a market they always had so much to choose from. Some people were taking fruit from the buffet to get juice made. Smart thinking. The lunch snack counter at the beach is well stocked and has lots to eat. One thing I did notice was they have taken away the quad, salsa and chips from this location. I used to eat that every day at the beach. Now it’s just hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken burgers, fries and nachos. I mean it’s enough to eat but I loved the salsa being there. I loved the new key on the bracelet! That’s wonderful not always looking for your key! The towels are also now on an honour system, no towel cards. That’s makes it harder to keep track of with a bigger group. Liked having the towel cards better to trade in. They used to have big areas where you could paint pottery now it’s just a very small cart with hardly any selection of products. That’s was too bad. Lastly I never saw a miriachi band all week! We always used to see them and hear them play. One of my fave things. Just a few things I count on seeing on a Mexico trip missing. It’s too bad. I did miss the regular things I loved about the resort, but now are gone :( All in all it’s a fabulous place to go. But I do notice it aging and not maybe being quite as well kept on the room side. But to be honest I don’t spend much time in the room. As for the amount of money paid to stay there though, I wish the room was up to the standards they used to be. We will be back I am sure but hope I have a better more recently renovated room next time around. Go and enjoy this resort as it is lovely. So entertaining.

Excellent holiday with our 18 yr old grandchildren

Overall an excellent holiday. My wife and I took two of our grandchildren both 18 yrs old for their first all inclusive and this was a good choice. Check-in was seamless, our room in Maya block 62 was centrally located and gave good access to the lobby and restaurants, the pool area and to the beach. The buildings are older and there are some signs of age in our room, but maintenance is continual and the grounds are very well kept. The staff was responsive and available. Room service was fast ( because 18 yr olds need nuggets at 11:00 pm in their room right now). If you don't want to walk this massive property there always seems to be a shuttle driving by to give you a ride. We ate ate the Pagoda buffet the first night and the food was excellent. Every other night we ate at a different a la carte and were impressed by the service, lack of waiting, and food quality at all of them. Stars are given to the French and seafood restaurants. Only the steak house and Japanese needed reservations. Bars are plentiful and where you need them. Top shelf liquors are there if you want them. Line-ups at the bars are usually short or the very helpful servers will get your drinks in short order. The beach is good for swimming or jumping in the waves, but too rough for snorkeling. In calmer water you might be able to snorkel within a short walk to the south. High waves prevented our use of the water sports but they do have canoes and hoby-cats for use. There are a lot of children at this resort. I don't mind kids and enjoyed watching them having fun, but noisy picky kids in a fine dining atmosphere will throw some people off. Staff of note: Jose at the main Maya lobby bar (my granddaughter is in love). Angel from the entertainment troup (my granddaughter is in love). Karina at the wave pool bar. Such a sweetie. Alexis, who was always available near our room to answer questions and fix our bumps and bruises. And finally Augusto, the sommelier. Rarely have I seen a more enthusiastic and friendly person with a true passion for fine wines and liquors (I'm in love).
