Good, but not sure about 5 star!
Me and my partner came to stay for two weeks, which was plenty of time to give a thorough review. Positives - 24 hour cafe serving food and drinks - Several restaurants - Not overcrowded considering the size of the hotel - No Queues - Well staffed and well maintained and clean - Friendly People - A lot of nature and greenery - 24 hour shuttle service - Excursion staff are friendly without being annoyingly persistent - Lots of options for kids including clubs and entertainment Areas Of Improvement - Staff across the hotel speak very little to no English - Entertainment is generally catered towards those who can speak Spanish only - Market Stall sellers during the week in the general areas that harass you into purchasing things from them - Open air restaurant meant lots of birds and pelicans flying around the tables, especially at Breakfast time trying to peck at food, potentially the option of an enclosed restaurant space may be make for a nicer environment to eat - Lobby and bar areas need better ventilation as it gets very hot, especially at night - Main pool can get very dirty due to lots of trees surrounding it. Whilst staff try to keep it clean, it still picks up a lot of dirt - The quiet pool had construction going on around it which we were not made aware of prior to our stay and was very noisy with lots of drill work throughout the day and dust too. - The pool bar was shut for 3 days due to construction, again no warning prior to our stay.

Nice resort except the photographer
The check in was smooth but no one showed us around or any information was given to us, we had to find our way around. The room service was poor, we had to ask twice for anything we requested. The minibar was not restocked for most of the days Housekeeping was good, kept our room clean and organized and they were very friendly. The resort is clean overall except the swimming pools which is very dirty full of dirt and hair. My son and I both got diarrhoea for several days. The room was nice and clean except the shower which full of mold, the iron was broken, hairdryer and minibar were not working properly. The food was the best thing, buffet was always fresh, delicious and lots of variety. Restaurants were all great and the staff were very helpful. Don’t leave any money or valuable items in the room as $30 was stolen from our room and someone went through our stuff. We reported to the hotel and the public relation manager was very helpful and friendly. The resort photographer is a BIG SCAMMER, we had around four different sales people talking to us about the photoshoot setup as it was my son’s first birthday and ended up with unprofessional photographer who knows nothing about photography, and said he didn’t know it was a birthday photoshoot. After showing us the photos he increased the price from $10 per photo to $15 when we said we wanted only 10 photos. He knows we wanted the photos because it was birthdays photos. Then he said either we give him $200 IN CASH or we don’t take any photos. We wanted to pay him by card but he said there is 2% charges on the card which we said ok then he said no the manager said it’s 10% charges. We asked for the manager but we got one of his colleagues pretending that he’s the manager and they were very rude using f-words in Spanish. Side note not related to the hotel, be prepared the kids toys got stolen by the pool by other guests which was very surprisingly.

Greatly Disappointed!
We have been to Punta Cana many times in last 20 years. We previously had stayed at the Iberostar resort. Things have changed. The first room we were assigned was shabby, dirty there was lipstick on the phone. We had to upgrade to a room by the pool, better but still lacking. When we checked in we were advised there was no bottled water there are glass jugs in your room which can be filled at filling stations where you also get ice hopefully close to your room. First of all these glass jugs did not look too inviting. People were walking around drinking out of them. I’m sure when the room is turned over these glass glass jugs are not sanitized. First word that comes to mind UNSANITARY! I didn’t go on vacation to be a water boy. The food was fair. Tried to get into Breve the steak restaurant two nights, unsuccessful. There was a wait list and there were empty tables in the restaurant. People were not happy. Every resort I have been to in Punta Cana the grounds are lush beautiful. Here everything was half dead, grass, palm trees, bushes aesthetically not inviting. The pools surrounding the restaurants off the lobby were were green with algae, when was the last time they were cleaned. The resort is weary and worn in definite need of a renovation. Would I recommend the Iberostar Selection Bavaria to anyone definitely NOT. Would I return NEVER!

Do not stay here.
Stayed at Bavaro( coral level) 3 nigjts. Brekfast quality was the worst I ever tried for my lifetime. The infinite pool is tidy and very low.(Just the name is infinite..) There were too many sea weeds in the front beach, so impossible to swim there. All inclusive buffet restaurant’s foods are limited and almost all bland. Tepanyaki is good to try. I’ll never recommend this iberostar. Disappointed!
