    Checks all the boxes....

We just returned with multiple families from a stay at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. If you’re traveling with kids, this is the place to be. Our group had kids ages 7 to 14, and everyone had a blast—there is a constant abundance of activities to keep everyone busy. the adults were able to have a great time because the kids always had things to do. The Service: What makes this resort special is the staff we had. They were incredibly accommodating to our large group, and could make adjustments on the fly. Edgar, our personal concierge, was a rockstar and handled everything for us daily. Ricardo, our butler, provided top-tier service that made the stay feel seamless. Jorge, Santiago, and Ivan at the cabanas were the highlight of our days—they took amazing care of us while we relaxed by the pool. WITHOUT THEM, THERE WOULD BE NO REVIEW. They kept making sure we had a full glass of tequila (with ice) and constant food for the kiddos! The Highlights: The Gym: Hands down the best I’ve seen at any hotel. Huge selection of machines, plus two pickleball courts and a half-court basketball setup. The boot camps and classes were excellent. Kids and adults that worked out couldn't stop raving about this. Dining: Poolside food was great, which made it easy to spend the whole day in the sun. You want to make sure you have breakfast all the time at Molina and Casa Cortez. The vibes were perfect there...right on the beach. Hibachi was a MUST and the Steakhouse was good. Make sure you try the Indian restaurant as well. I wasn't a fan of the Buffett hall...needs a makeover. If you want a high-energy resort for kids with good service for adults, book this Hyatt.

Another amazing experience at Hyatt Ziva Cabo

We had a wonderfully located swim up suite. Highly recommend. The best meal was lunch at Casa Cortez. Right on the beach. Very clean. Excellent and attentive service. Had great fish tacos, a whole fried fish with sides. All delicious. Water glasses and drinks were kept full and plenty on checking in to make sure w writhing was good. I asked for the manager’s name to compliment her. Deisi Colio you are doing an AMAZING job! I do events for my company and hoping to bring one of them here in 2027. Top notch from start to finish. Thanks again Deisi!!!

Great restaurants, older property being renovated some staff good check in needs improvement

We stayed from December 9 to December 16 in room #3534. Overall great experience as a result of it being an off season week, great staff and beautiful property. Restaurants are excellent aswell, Indian, Italian Mexican Japanese and seafood was exceptional. Our room was on the older side and there was a sewage smell coming from the shower. We reported it and a lemon solution was put which left a strong odour in the room and then following day we reported it again and nothing was done. I was also disappointed with the check in process was left lost as to the property layout, where to eat when we arrived left me lost and anxious about how the remaining time will be as we paid for an expensive package. The Check-in also inputted my email incorrectly and my world Hyatt number. I called but was told I have checked out they could not correct my email address or points for world Hyatt. I paid a lot for this special vacation so felt cheated. The bufffet was a big disappointment breakfast was good but lunch and dinner no options left over food, the buffet was also closed for Lunch and dinner so if you arrive on those days you have no option to eat until the restaurants open. What made up for it was some of the staff I’d like to recognize some of them especially Marisol at the buffet made us a special vegetarian fajitas, Sergio at the Mexican restaurant gave us great service and information about Cabos. Ajay Kumar at the Indian restaurant was amazing in the dishes he created. Orlando, Lorenzo and Pedro at the Japanese restaurant were amazing had a great experience and service. At the Italian restaurant Roberto was awesome. Christian and checkout was also very helpful and considerate. I’ve attached pictures of these employees and I hope the resort will recognize them for their great service. Overall great resort but was disappointed in the sewage smell and no resolution was offered, buffet was awful. Indian restaurant was amazing, breakfast at the seafood restaurant was so favourable. Italian restaurant was excellent.

A directionless, unfocused, hit-and-miss 3.5 star resort that is “just okay”

This is a hard one (and confusing). I really wanted to like this place. And there are some positives. But overall, this is a midrange 3.5 to 4 star resort masquerading as a “luxury” resort. It is a far cry from a true 5 star luxury resort such as Grand Velas or even a 4.5 star property such as Grand Solmar. Adjust your expectations accordingly. Positives - Above average to good service levels, especially among restaurant staff - Friendly, efficient, and pleasant check-in process - No wristbands needed, unlimited dining with no need to make reservations (except teppanyaki at Dozo) and no need to wait for and sign dining checks - No sales pitch for timeshares or “extras” - Multiple restaurants and casual dining options - Beautiful and convenient beachfront location - Large but compact resort that is easy to navigate - Multiple large pools - Nice large gym with two outdoor pickleball courts and a basketball hoop - Reasonably comfortable and quiet rooms with decent sleep experience Negatives - Loud music with heavy bass thumping from the head of the pool throughout the day and into the evening (from about 11am to 10pm) that disrupts any sense of peaceful relaxation - Highly trafficked property with visible signs of wear and tear and stains in non-renovated rooms, the renovated lobby (stained upholstery), and around the pool area (bathrooms, casual snack areas etc) - Some of the bartenders and waitstaff in the pool area appeared exasperated and overworked (not as friendly or pleasant as restaurant staff) - Lots of small children (could be a positive if vacationing with small children) - Inconsistent food quality ranging from below average to slightly above average (more below) - Lacks an overall sense of luxury, doesn’t feel “special” - Property grounds and landscaping are “just okay” (feels staid and corporate) Food quality and dining options It’s difficult to give an overall rating for dining because the experience was so varied and inconsistent from place to place. It’s almost as if they are each operated independently with different standards. The good - Bon Vivant (French) and Mahika (Indian) were generally above average with good service - Mahika was the standout for unique drink options (both alcoholic and non) - Bon Vivant was the standout for service - Casa Cortez (seafood) was also an above average option for both lunch and dinner - Although the menu is quite limited, in-room dining was actually decent The bad (or average) - El Molino (Mexican) was surprisingly below average - Hacienda Grill (steakhouse) is very popular but not worth the wait during peak dinner hours - it’s mostly an average steakhouse with just okay food quality The ugly - Plaza Buffet (steer clear unless other restaurants are full) - Dozo (Asian) was below average (did not try the teppanyaki because it was fully booked throughout our 5 day stay). The miso soup was good, the rolls were average, the ramen was disgusting and inedible and should be removed from the menu immediately. - The Station and other pool area casual eateries are all below average - The Coffee House was a big disappointment with stale bakery items, snacks, sweets, ice cream etc. A convenient 24/7 option is a nice concept but the execution was poor. - The Healthy Bar is also a very nice concept but also the biggest disappointment of all - the “fresh fruit” smoothies are not fresh at all and well below average (avoid). The preparation area was also somewhat dirty and messy with bees buzzing about everywhere. If I had to give an overall grade for dining, it would be a B. Couple of other notes: fresh juice and fresh fruit options are very limited (almost non-existent) at this resort and drink quality is mediocre and inconsistent throughout. Mahika easily had the best drink options. Overall As stated above, I really wanted to like this place but ended up with mixed feelings. If you’re traveling with small children and you value convenience and ease above luxury (and can accept this compromise), this place might work for you at the right price. If you’re searching for a true luxury experience with refined dining, special touches, and a personalized experience, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a quiet, serene, and peaceful place to relax by the ocean, definitely steer clear. Ultimately, I think Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is a resort in search of an identity. However, it seems to not want to choose. By lacking a clear identity, it tries to please everyone and ends up not fully pleasing anyone. It dials up every knob to about a 6 or 7 out of 10, enough to be barely satisfactory for the majority of guests but not focused enough to truly delight anyone. For families with small children, it’s too loud and frenetic. For the party crowd, it’s not loud and frenetic enough. For the luxury crowd, it just isn’t luxurious on any level. The result is halfhearted, directionless execution that is “just okay” and ultimately doesn’t work.
