A Heartfelt Sanctuary in the High Desert
A Heartfelt Sanctuary in the High Desert Nestled between the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa isn't just a place to stay—it is a soul-stirring experience. From the moment you drive down the long, winding path into the Santa Ana Pueblo, you feel the weight of the world lift. This resort excels at blending authentic New Mexican culture with the refined comforts travelers expect. The Globalist Experience: Feeling Truly Special For those with World of Hyatt Globalist status, Tamaya treats you like family. The recognition here is consistent and meaningful: • Suite Upgrades: The resort is known for its generosity in upgrading Globalists to spacious suites (often connecting a living room guestroom to a bedroom), providing a true "home away from home" feel. • Resort Fee Waivers: While the $30+ resort fee covers great perks like bike rentals and s'mores, seeing it wiped from the bill is a welcome touch. • The "Special" Factor: It’s the small things—the promptness of the concierge and the effortless check-in—that make you feel like more than just a confirmation number. Standout Amenities: Spa & Seasonal Pools One of the most valuable (and relaxing) perks for guests is the Tamaya Mist Spa. The facility is complimentary for guests 18 and over, even if you aren't booking a treatment. Spending an afternoon in the dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, or the private outdoor whirlpool is the ultimate way to decompress. ⚠️ Travel Tip for December: If you are visiting during the off-season, please check ahead regarding the pools. Currently, the resort transitions to a limited schedule where only one pool remains functional while others undergo maintenance or close for the winter. To avoid disappointment, a quick call to the front desk before you arrive will help manage expectations for you and your little ones for winter swim and water activities World-Class Hospitality: The Heart of Tamaya A resort is only as good as its people, and the team here is extraordinary. Special praise must go to Danae and Elise at the front desk; their warmth and efficiency set the tone for the entire stay. Furthermore, Nicole, the manager, is a masterclass in hospitality. Her willingness to listen, her attention to detail, and her dedication to serving the guests’ best interests ensure that every concern is met with a "yes" and a smile. It is rare to find a leadership team so genuinely invested in the guest journey. A Breakfast Worth Waking Up For The breakfast at the Santa Ana Café is nothing short of legendary. Whether you are enjoying your Globalist benefit or just treating yourself, do not miss: • The Blue Corn Pancakes: A local staple that is light, nutty, and perfectly sweet. • Green Chile Everything: From the breakfast burritos to the savory hashes, the spice is authentic and revitalizing. • Heartfelt Service: The servers here remember your coffee order and make you feel like you're sitting in a friend's kitchen, even during a busy morning rush. Final Thoughts Hyatt Regency Tamaya is a place of peace. While the property has a "vintage" Southwestern charm, the level of service and the beauty of the landscape make it a premier destination. Whether you’re soaking in the spa or watching the sunset over the cottonwoods, you’ll leave feeling enriched.

Relaxing Holiday Visit
Wonderful stay, as usual at Tamaya. The staff, the hotel property itself and the setting make for a great, relaxing visit to the Albuquerque area.

Another idyllic New Mexico Hyatt stay!
My wife, our dog Cooper, and I truly love Tamaya. I’ve stayed a few times and plan many more visits. We enjoyed the spa on our first trip, and I made sure to take advantage again during this most recent stay. My visit included a massage, haircut, and use of the fantastic amenities. Tarah, CiCi, and my massage therapist (whose name, unfortunately, escapes me) all went above and beyond to meet my needs. Coming off a high-energy week after competing in the US National Cyclocross Master's Elite Championship in Fayetteville, AR, I was driving solo back to Mountain View, CA, while my wife flew home and Cooper stayed with her. My stop at Tamaya was exactly what I needed on my journey. Hannah, whom I first spoke to by phone and later at the front desk, was amazing and went out of her way to make my stay special. The female bartender on Saturday night (also unfortunately forget her name, but it was a really neat name…) was fantastic, she was engaging in holiday trivia with me (I was asking her favorite holiday movies and then choosing a trivia question from the movie with the ability to win $25 per correct answer), earning an extra $50 on top of her service tip—it was a lot of fun!

This is really a 4.4 star review but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt…
Good food and atmosphere. Beautiful holiday decor. But we had to change rooms almost immediately. We were on 3rd floor in an outer building on the side overlooking Sandia Mountain and some plumbing noises kept happening every 40 seconds or so. Fortunately I had read a recent review about this and took it seriously. I went back to the lobby and asked to be moved. I don’t understand why they put us in a room where they could’ve guessed there was a problem based on a previous guest’s comments. The hotel was sparsely populated and it felt a bit disappointing not to have the outdoor fireplaces lit, nor any other group activities midweek. This place would be more fun and interesting during in a different season. Lastly, I wanted to have a massage but the tour I got thru the spa areas convinced me I’d be too cold to participate in any of the spa treatments. Unfortunately I skipped the massage and missed out on the hot tub because of it. I’ll be back, though in a different season bc it’s a beautiful hotel with a stunning view from the lobby. Thanks for the great and friendly service from Mikayla in Acorn Maiden and Christoph in Santa Ana!

Nice, but there's some room for improvement.
Parking area and first-floor elevator area smelled like sewer. The noise of doors slamming late into the evening and very early in the morning could be heard. Food quality was excellent, although somewhat pricey, and the staff could smile a little more. Ambiance was very nice, but not as decorated for the holidays as in past years in the lobby & public areas. Also, for the resort fee charge, I expect a bit more available and accessible free events/activities/amenities, like access to a microwave oven, more than one free public access hot-tub, and free late checkouts. Other than this, the resort is comfortable, beautiful, and relaxing. It makes for a nice getaway.
