Jan 18, 2026A 5 star hotel with 1 star service
Booked a Tower King room on 16 January (advertised with 'large double bed'). Checked in at 4pm, only to find our room to have two single beds. Not a big problem.... or so I mistakenly thought. I rang guest services (ironic title, given how I was talked to), only to be told by a clearly flustered lady that we'd actually booked a twin room but she would 'look into it' and get back to us. She hung up the phone whilst I was still trying to explain that we'd actually booked a King room. 30 minutes later and with no one having got back to me I rang guest services again and unfortunately got the same apathetic lady who again brushed me off. At least this time around she didn't accuse me of booking a twin room - but she sounded like she had more important things to do. Another 30 minutes ticked on by, then I headed to reception with my booking confirmation (stating we'd booked a King room), explained the situation to someone more sympathetic to our cause, and was told that the issue would be fixed within 10-15 minutes. 40 minutes later house keeping turned up to reconfigure the bedding. Here's a tip from Hotel Management 101 - match the room to the booking details and don't make it the guests problem when you make the mistake. You had to be dragged kicking and screaming to rectify the issue (that's the distinct impression that the woman from 'guest services' gave) and eventually took two hours to address a relatively small issue entirely of your own inept making. I was made to feel embarrassed, had my integrity questioned, and was treated as nothing more than an unwelcome intrusion. Absolutely disgraceful service standards and I'm sure that there are many, many better hotels at that price point, particularly as far as 'guest services' go. I won't be back and I'd recommend steering clear... there's a care factor of zero.

The hotel has good facilities and is very nice but we found the menus in the restaurants very limited for our dietary requirements.

Jan 14, 2026Liked the hotel a lot, but the experience improved massively once we upgraded to a sea-facing suite.
Excellent, but you need a room with a Darling Harbour view. In our view, breakfast needed to include berries and more GF options which we got at The Hyatt Grand at Melbourne.

Was good overall but nothing exceptional. Location, food and atmosphere was good too, but service was slow so we had to bear to stay in the room without air conditioning in the heat until it got fixed late night when kids were already tired and waiting to go to bed.

The hotel was full and they did not have the staff or three capability to handle three volumes of customers. Breakfast was a zoo. Rooms are small and have totally inadequate storage. Staff were poorly trained and unable to handle the volume of customers. Terrible!
