A great weekend in San Francisco
My family traveled to San Francisco to watch a Giants baseball game . We took a long weekend and stayed at the Hyatt SoMA in downtown San Francisco. The staff at the Hyatt was bar none the nicest and most helpful of any hotel I have stayed at in San Francisco. The hotel itself is clean, shiny , the rooms so comfy with plenty of room for three people . Maria, Diego, and Teresa in the market store in the lobby were especially kind and just fun.... Even if we didn't need coffee we went down and had a good morning chat..... My family just felt so welcome... Location and staff just so great.. we will be back

Great location and Great Property
We were just there for a night to catch a show. The property was a very nice and the rooms were updated and very clean. Great location not too far from Union Square. I would highly recommend staying at this property.

Poor and humiliating customer service at Hyatt Hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for a couple of days to take part in the annual Hot Chocolate Run in SF. Our first impression was that it was a "nice" and fancy hotel. Because we're attending an event, we were approved for a free late check-out, at 1:00pm However, the good feeling of staying here immediately faded when we suffered humiliations when the hotel locked us out (12:00pm) of our room, elevators, etc. before our promised check-out time. No one helped to resolve this. When we came home, we emailed customer services and explained our horrific experience. Customer service told us on two separate occasions that they will report this to their "leadership" and they should get back to us. Weeks and months passed, and their Hyatt "leadership" team just blew us off with not response. Two chances were enough. You would think that a name like Hyatt would represent prestige and class. Apparently, they are so big, they can afford to ignore "little" customers, and focus on their big ticket convention bookings. Furthermore, we also had issues with the practicality of our room. There are many other hotels that offer "excellent" service and actually "care" about their patrons and will make every effort to assure customer satisfaction. If you wish to stay at this Hyatt SOMA, do so at your own risk. Being locked out of your room is humiliating and no pleasant feeling. Never staying at Hyatt again.

Modern
The view of the bay was spectacular while located in a convenient and safe part of San Francisco. Our hotel room was incredibly clean and modern. We had first class service from the cleaning staff, front desk and market place clerks.

Treated so well on our Moms' Weekend Away!
The new-ness of the Hyatt Regency SF Downtown SOMA is not lost on me. So many of the SF hotels are quite dated and ready for upgrades/updates/renos that it's just so refreshing to walk into essentially a brand new hotel! The HR SF SOMA was rebranded, completely renovated and opened just about a year ago. I was lucky to spend a night there on a staycation with some friends to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was THE PERFECT PLACE for us! I booked a One Bedroom King Suite plus a King Corner room which the hotel had told me could be connected so all 5 of us could be "together". I contacted the hotel to confirm we'd be set up like I'd hoped (and also informed them of the birthday we were celebrating). The 2 rooms do not connect in the traditional sense, but instead they are 2 separate rooms off a very short hallway. The door to that hallway can be closed off to the rest of the floor, then we propped the doors to each of our rooms open and that's how we easily shared the whole space together. Both rooms (2301 & 2306) had views down to the Bay. It was just a gorgeous setup. With the couch and some complimentary wine (thank you so much to the HR staff!!!) plus a little store off the lobby FULL of snacks (The Market) we could purchase and charge to the room - we stayed up chatting and catching up until the wee hours of the morning. It was such a lovely getaway and would not have been the same had the HR staff not listened and cared about my requests to make the weekend special for us. All the staff members I interfaced with were helpful and friendly too. Location is great and an easy walk to Union Square, SF MOMA, Yerba Buena Gardens, Moscone center, 5 min walk from Montgomery BART station. We didn't eat any meals at the HR so I can't speak to any of the food, but we did get drinks in the early afternoon at the Grove across the street. I only live about 30 miles away and we often come into SF for staycations - I already have a reservation to return and bring my family in June. And thoughts of a holiday-season staycation are swirling in my head. I'm looking forward to trying the Regency Club on our next visit as I know that will be so helpful for my hungry kiddos! Worth mentioning that I was an Explorist at my visit and will be Globalist on my return. Hot tip: if you don't need your car for ins and outs, use Spot Hero to book a spot at the Hearst Parking garage directly across the street from the lobby of the hotel and it was like $16/24 hours!
