perfect hotel for nightlife and convenience
We used our points for a 5 night stay at the Hyatt place waikiki for our honeymoon. For only 12,000 points/night our expectations were extremely exceeded. I will say prepare to spend 45/night if you would like overnight parking with the hotel or you will be inconvenienced looking for parking in Waikiki daily. But it’s only $12 to park from 8am-12am at the hotel was great. We were able to walk to the beach quickly, close to many popular eats, nightlife and more. The staff was welcoming and our room was great, clean and beyond spacious for 2 people. Only downside was the balcony needed cleaning and there was nothing to see but buildings, but for a free stay It didn’t bother us too much - unless you like to spend time on the balcony! There’s a great sized gym, lots of lobby space, small laundry mat and more. Breakfast was a 7/10 for me, same thing daily except protein is rotated (bacon or sausage) wish there was more of a variety and bigger space as it was super crowded. Overall we really enjoyed our experience with the Hyatt Place in Waikiki!

Hasn't held up from prior stay a decade ago
In 2013, we booked a standard room and had a huge space with separate seating area. Closeness to the beach and free breakfast were also big pluses, so when booking a stay in 2023 we checked the website and saw it still looked the same, so we booked two stays (night before and a few days after a recent cruise). Well, a lot has changed. Our first room was so small it didn't even have a desk, and second room wasn't much bigger. To their credit, once I pointed out this didn't match our prior stay and virtual tour from website, they upgraded us to a "superior" room, which matched what had been "standard" on our prior visit and web tour. Breakfast was still decent, but JAM packed even at 6:30 AM. And of the elevators, 1 set couldn't be used to access breakfast due to renovations so the others were always full & slow. Location is still just as close to the beach, shopping, and food...but somehow feels MUCH noisier in the middle of the night than in 2013. Uncontrollable by the hotel, but there were always sirens, shouting, metal banging, etc.

Don't do it
The Hotel had roaches. They were nice enough to move me and then move me again to another room I was originally booked for however still Roaches. I had to relocate to another hotel as I'm allergic to roaches. They need to address the housekeeping situation, I don't understand how you clean every three days, this is what I was told upon check-in. Its no wonder there are roaches. The breakfast area is outside and the pigeons are rampant. There is pigeon poop on the chair and more pigeons come as the breakfast areas get more crowded. I still don't know why there is no area to eat inside. There is a booth or two semi outside where the food is served. However, again pigeons walk in. Its really unsat! The bathroom tile was not clean and the bathroom was very tight. The hotel staff were pleasant that's all I really can say that nice.

Shout out to the Bellman (Jeff) who assisted us at check-in, and greeted us BY NAME at every chance after!
We had planned and eagerly anticipated this trip for months -- and the Hyatt Place Waikiki did not disappoint. Beautiful property and phenomenal service!!! Our room did indeed have the promised ocean view, and being only a few short blocks away from the beach itself was an added draw! I was immensely impressed with the manner in which each of the Bellmen (Jeff in particular) strived to provide attention to every guest - usually greeting them by name and asking questions specific enough to indicate a talent for listening, and retaining information to previous conversations! As this was our own experience, I have no doubt that it is the custom with each and every guest - and judging from the constant and on-going activity going on daily in the front lobby, no simple feat! Let me also express appreciation to the bellmen on duty (Jason in particular) in being so patient with this "Nervous Nellie" regarding the timing of the pickup service to return to the Honolulu airport upon our departure -- I was concerned that the designated time didn't allow for adequate baggage check-in OR navigating the TSA security process, but I was assured that all would be well, and these assurances came with no discernable evidence of amusement at my angst! As a follow up - we made it with time to spare! If I had one "complaint" (for lack of a better word), I would ask for more variety in the menu offered at the breakfast bar -- while everyone enjoys scrambled eggs, bacon, toast or bagel, and fresh fruit, there are days when coffee, fruit, and a pastry of sorts is all that is needed and would just hit the spot! On the other hand, I couldn't get enough of the fresh pineapple and vanilla yogurt, topped with granola. Seconds? Yes, please!!! We enjoyed 9 memorable days on Oahu, and these memories are due in part to the gracious hospitality of the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach! I hope to be able to visit again in the future!

We loved it here!
We had an extended stay at Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach (2 months) and it was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and actually cared about our comfort. The rooms are spacious, everything was always clean, breakfast was good, and we felt safe. Hyatt place is also conveniently located within a short walking distance of the beach and shopping. Dominoes is in the building which is great for when you want to eat something late when everything else is closed. We would definitely stay here again.
