Castaway Cove - A Watery Pirate Playground
A new reservation system has been introduced to manage seating and attendance at the Castaway Cove and Garden Pool water facilities.
• Reservations will be able to be booked 30 days in advance.
• You will need to use your hotel confirmation number (listed below) You will be able to book ONE 2-hour pool reservation and ONE 2-hour Castaway Cove reservation per DAY of your stay.
• Reservations will be for up to 5 people, if you have a room that can accommodate more than 5 people please call us once you make your pool reservation so the hotel can adjust the reservation manually.
• Guests should arrive to Castaway Cove or the Garden Pool 15 minutes prior to their reservation time to get checked in and receive their wristbands(there will be different wristbands for each time and location).
• Guests may only use the pool furniture assigned in their reservation. To promote physical distancing, pool furniture may not be rearranged.
• The facilities will be closed down and all guests cleared out between reservations blocks to perform sanitation procedures.
• Please see the facility attendant at Castaway Cove if your party would like to use the hot tub spa during your reservation block. Hotel will allow 15 minute blocks per room to reduce exposure to others (subject to availability).
• All children who are not potty trained will be required to have on swim pants, which they provide complimentary if needed.
• If you do need to cancel your hotel reservation, please also cancel your pool reservation.
• Hotel will be sending you a text message prior to your pool reservation to confirm, if they do not hear back from you, your reservation will automatically be cancelled.
• No lifeguards on duty.

Spoke with Jennifer in reservations about helping with an upgrade to reservations i had made for April 20th through the 25th. Absolutely a pleasure doing business with Howard Johnson, Jennifer was professional and extremely helpful considering I'm not very good at this sort of thing? Lol... She was so nice, she actually made this an enjoyable experience.

10 minute walk to Disneyland!
Excellent location to Disneyland. Staff were friendly. Room was updated, clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Dec 05, 2025Excellent Location & Comfortable Stay But Some Drawbacks
We stayed at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim right across from Disneyland in November 2025. Overall it was a very comfortable hotel, with an obviously excellent location right next to Disney, but there were a few drawbacks. The place was clean and warm and comfortable within walking distance to everything we needed. There were unfortunately no amenities other than a pool and waterpark. There was a gift store. No restaurant in the complex, but many nearby. There were only a few complaints. The light on the microwave is bright enough that it lights up the entire room at night when you're trying to sleep. There's a motion sensor on the bathroom light switch, so you can't go to the bathroom in the dark at night. The light comes on and you're scrambling to turn it off every time. The water pressure in the shower was down to an absolute trickle. Took forever to rinse off soap and shampoo. Apart from those drawbacks the place was great.

Great location across from Disneyland and close to kid friendly food options like Panera and McDonald’s. The convenience shop came in handy. The 460 bus stop is right by the hotel which was fantastic. Did not have the best experience overall. The safe needed replacement batteries, towels and trash removal were delayed, and our room door was left open after service. Staff were friendly but not always helpful. Perhaps our stay over a holiday weekend was understaffed.

Great stay!
We enjoyed our stay here for a family Disney trip. Great set up having a family suite, two bedroom/two bathroom. Plenty of room. Decor is really fun a mid century disney theme. Staff super friendly and helpful. Mimi's restaurant right across the street is great for breakfast,lunch and dinner. Walk to Disney is about ten minutes. Would stay here again.
