From Amtrak's California Zephyr to the lovely Fisherman's Wharf Hotel Zephyr

After a great train ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the snow covered Sierra Nevada s, the Hotel Zephyr was the perfect final stop on a cross country trip. Only a block away from the seafood restaurants of Fisherman's Wharf, I found the Zephyr to be the perfect ending of a cross country trip. The room rate was incredibly cheaper than any of the chains and a great value for a boutique hotel. I always felt safe in the Hotel Zephyr neighborhood as I walked about exploring the Wharf area. Do yourselves a favor and book the Zephyr.

    First Time Visitor

I wasn't sure what to expect from the Zephyr as I usually stay in the financial district when I travel to SF. Check-in service was friendly and smooth. My room was perfectly neat and had everything I needed. The rooms are spacious, and bed was comfortable. I did not have a view room but one of my colleagues did and it was fabulous. The hotel has a very fun atmosphere - you feel like you are on a fishing vessel. Lots of comfortable places to gather both inside and outside. Staff is knowledgeable about the city and best restaurants nearby. I was super pleased with my stay at the Zephyr.

    Cruise Like Fell

A cruise ship style hotel. The location is perfect for cruisin’ around the city. We simply cruised through the check in process. With a view of Alcatraz & the Golden Gate Bridge it felt like we were cruisin’ on the bay. Great stay!

    Rip Off

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is in a good location near Pier 39 and clean. The room was ok, clean but not like the pictures. They need updating - the quirky SOS items and dartboard/games aren’t in the rooms. There is a tea/coffee maker and a fridge. There is no sound proofing. You can hear doors slam and conversations so loud you would think they were standing next to you. The games room area and outdoors has a hostel feel where you can hang out it was nice. This hotel isn’t luxurious but a base for travelling to tourist spots. There isn’t a concierge but there is nice guy who will help with bags/taxis and a woman who will try and sell you tours. The staff at the reception were unfriendly and rude. Sat at their computer and followed the policies and procedures and did not show any friendly customer service. No smile or welcome to San Francisco. The staff do not match the hotel. They are aiming at a modern, young, hip market but their staff are not the right match. They need younger, friendlier staff. We asked for a high floor and a view upon booking last year but they did not accommodate us. The room was triple the normal price because there was a Conference on in San Fran. Price gauging to the highest level. They do not accommodate customers and are rude. The day we left, they had younger male staff and they were friendly and the right image for this hotel. Do not bother as they are pretending to be something but they are not. False advertising.

    Very good.

Very unique hotel in a great location with good seafood all around. Joanna Boyle the concierge was an absolute joy to work with, and was extremely helpful and should get a raise 💸😄. She recommended some great seafood restaurants close by. Sometimes the front desk has discount cards as well. Don’t forget the s’more’s for the fire pit outside. Dan👍.
