First Xmas away plus first visit to Lanzarote
First time in Lanzarote and cannot wait to return! We did 2 excursions; the Caves with lunch inc 9-5 all day trip, beautiful though you need to hike some stairs! That they do not inform you of when booking...plus bend to manoeuvre your way through too...also missed on booking the trip & the sunset (hopefully see dolphins - did not) boat trip but incredibly worthwhile trips. All inc was fabulous, you have 2 reservations of specialist restaurants thrown in too! Bit vague on the entertainment board of where what activity is where, it was OK but needs to be laid out better info wise plus not so repetitive but overall we will most certainly return

Recommend this hotel
Loved the hotel - not sure where the last few bad review people were staying it obviously wasn’t here! Arrived Xmas eve check in was fast and smooth and even tho we were here early the room was ready. Staff were great and so friendly room really clean (tho we did have issues with small biting flies - not the hotels fault really but we had been pre-warned with other reviews ) Good location we like walking so half hour into the “main strip” wasn’t an issue The grounds are massive and well kept. The daytime buffet food is ok the normal chips burgers and salad but tbh there is so much food on the main buffets you don’t need it The Christmas Day buffet was amazing and made the holiday and food on the other days was lovely Loads of sun beds no need to reserve them early morning! The machines cocktails aren’t the best tbh but the bar staff can make most things you want from the normal selection of drinks so just get inventive and ask them to mix up what you want Didn’t do the entertainment so can’t comment on that but 100% would come back again - thanks to the hotel and all the staff for a wonderful Christmas THANK YOU!!

Great hotel - choose the quiet end if you don't like the noise
A lovely holiday at Riu Paraiso. We went at the end of November/beginning of December and the weather was lovely, warm enough not to need a jumper. The hotel is massive. It comes in two parts, connected by a bridge or garden. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade so we stayed in one of the garden bungalows. We had a bedroom, dressing area, lovely bathroom with enclosed shower, separate lounge with fridge & tv and a large terrace with chairs and table. We were a minute's walk from the quiet bar and could see the see from the end of our terrace. There are two parts to this hotel, a buzzing, busy part where the main restaurant, bar and evening entertainment is. During the day the wonderful Riu Animation Team do activities for the guests. It is busy, it is loud and there were people saving sunbeds early in the morning. At night this gets very busy and there is an auditorium where the main entertainment and there is also a stage and dance floor where there are singers, shout out to the wonderful Ginger & Spice - they were amazing. There are queues at the bar but they move really quickly as the fab bar staff are efficient, friendly and gets the queue moving. The restaurant does have its busy times especially if the 'meat of the day' is popular. Shout out to whoever cooked the pork shoulder - literally the best bit of pork I have ever eaten. The food is nice, there is always something to eat even for the fussy eaters, some of the waiters are rather surley & one even snatched our water glasses off the table before we had finished but most are nice enough. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are nicely decorated and the safe and pool towels are free. Remember that if you want a quieter holiday request the 'quiet' part of the hotel. It's a bit of a trek to the main restaurant but the quiet bar is nice and it does burgers/chips and other fast food for lunch so you don't need to go to the noisy end. There is a pool at the quiet end of the hotel too with lots of sunbeds. Overall we had a lovely holiday even with the rude waiting staff because everyone else was lovely. A nice relaxing break

A mixed bag - Sol Lanzarote a preferred option
Christmas Holiday with Family and Friends – Mixed Experience We stayed at the RIU Paraíso Lanzarote over the Christmas period with family and friends and overall had an enjoyable holiday, though there were some notable disappointments. Positives: The hotel itself is very clean, well kept, and clearly well maintained. Housekeeping was excellent – cleaners came in every day, towels were changed whenever requested, and pool towels were provided without issue. All staff across the hotel were friendly and helpful, which really added to the experience. The facilities are good: the gym is well equipped, the pools are clean and, importantly for winter, well heated. The entertainment staff also deserve a mention for their energy and friendliness. Negatives: Unfortunately, the food was a real let-down. While it wasn’t inedible, the choice was very limited and repetitive, with largely the same options available every day. Having stayed at the nearby Sol Lanzarote last Christmas, the difference in food quality and variety was very noticeable, with Sol being far superior. Christmas Day itself was particularly disappointing. The festive meal felt poorly thought out (turkey served with egg?) and lacked the quality and atmosphere you would expect for such an important part of an all-inclusive Christmas holiday. The Christmas entertainment was also underwhelming and again didn’t compare well with what we experienced at Sol Lanzarote the previous year. RIU would do well to look at its neighbouring competition and consider improvements in both food variety and special-occasion entertainment, as these form a significant part of the overall guest experience. Overall: Not a bad stay at all, with many positives in terms of cleanliness, staff, entertainment team and facilities. However, due to the food and Christmas offering, we would be more likely to book the Sol Lanzarote over RIU in future years.
