Feb 28, 2026Amazing Hotel
On arrival got a glass of cava. Rooms were very comfortable with a side sea view. Tea and coffee facilities, and a free safe. Beds were really comfortable. You get free beach towels. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent with plenty of choice for everybody. All staff were so friendly. Didn’t have a problem getting a sun bed. The hotel is in a great location near the Balcon de Europa. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return soon.

Fabulous service!
Had a week here 17 to 24 Feb, having been given the option to move from another hotel through Tui because of building work. Good decision, as we knew the other place left a lot to be desired! The food, the service, the rooms, everything ran perfectly at the Monica, and I loved it. Yes, it is for older clientele (partly to do with the time of year, and its an adults only) but they were a lovely lively lot! I mentioned to the maitre'd on last morning that I was very impressed with their work ethic and efficiency in the restaurant, and every request to the front desk was dealt with promptly (extra pillow etc). I'd happily return and recommend!

First class service
Stayed at Riu Monica from 8th Feb to 22nd Feb 2026. This was our second stay at this hotel. On our first night we arrived back in our room at around 10.45pm after watching the show to find that the shower screen in the bathroom had completely shattered, with glass all over the bathroom floor. This was reported to the reception who immediately gave us another room and told us that it would all be cleaned up and the screen replaced by 10.00am the following day. I contacted the reception at 10.30am and was told the room was now ready for us, which indeed it was. The service offered by the Riu Monica was first class. In no way was this incident the fault of the hotel and may have been due to a manufacturing fault. I have read on the Internet that the same thing happened in May 2025. The remainder of the holiday was faultless with excellent friendly staff in every area of the hotel. The food was if a good standard and drinks reasonably priced. The incident with the shower screen in no way will stop us from staying at the hotel again Well done Riu Monica for your excellent service

Wonderful position, lovely spacious bedrooms and all spotlessly clean. However, we didn’t find the food particularly good and disliked the canteen feeling the dining room engendered. We went to the other restaurant twice which was an improvement, but the menu never changes. The hairdryer in our room was faulty. I reported it twice, the first time the hotel website said it had been resolved, but nobody had been anywhere near our room. The second time someone came and I tried to explain it worked intermittently, but it was working when he came so I wasn’t believed. It went off quite quickly later. Also the shower was impossible to regulate, it went too hot or too cold without being altered, very frustrating.

Great Hotel, lovely position.
Lovely Hotel just 10 minutes walk from the town centre. Bedrooms have plenty of storage and hanging space. Restaurant appears to be a little chaotic but well organised with lovely choices of meals all prepared to a high standard. Staff all very helpful. Gym and swimming pool great. Our visit followed a period of bad storms in the area. We had a week of temperatures in the high teens/ low twenties with no rain and sunshine most of the time. However, extremely windy so escaped to Frigiliana and Almuñécar for a trip and found it less windy there. Evening entertainment enjoyable.
