    The emperor doesn't have clothes

We traveled to Riu Buenavista with my wife and three kids. The hotel has a wonderful location, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was exiting. Our rooms were located on the far side with views to a neighboring alley, which meant that the noise levels from the entertainment programs was minimal. The amenities were great and the service was wonderful and the lavish and luxurious buffet was amazing. But....after the first two days they asked us to fill in a customer feedback form and naturally we gave full points. After that the quality of service and the food declined rapidly. The initial broad selection of fruits and amazing dishes was reduced to minimal by the end of our 7 day stay. The Pata-Negra Jamon from the first night became boiled pork. The amazing seafood selection with shellfish, octopus, sushi, salmon etc. became daily fried bony tilapia fillets. The selection of various select meats became stiff pork stakes. The turkey became chicken only. The initial fruit selection of various melons, grapes, kiwifruits, etc.. was reduced to yesterday's grapefruits, oranges and apples. The wines and beer were on available from the tap only and we couldn't even buy better or local wines with money. We got a tip from a staff member that you could ask for the staff for cava, which was a surprise since it was not mentioned. Coffee was bitter and weak, clearly it was cooked several hours before. Espresso was only available when the bars were open. The various dinner restaurants that were advertised in the hotel info were available by booking via the RIU app, but we were not able to make a reservation to the restaurants, but Atlantico Grill, because the booking was "full" or the app simply didn't work. To our surprise after dressing up to the reservation only Atlantico Grill, turned out to be the same buffet that the Yaiza restaurant was offering, and the "fully booked" restaurant was actually half-empty. You could also see that the staff was over-worked and exhausted they clearly stopped trying and after a few days their initial friendliness became skin deep and in some cases blunt by the end of our stay.

    Week of winter sun

First time staying at this hotel but second time to the area early January. The hotel is very big, immaculate with large rooms. A number of pools, bars and restaurants. I can imagine that it gets very busy durung peak times. Staff and animation team work extremely hard. It is a quieter area but short walk to shopping centre few bars and restaurants. We ate at all restaurants - main buffet, grill, Asian and Italian - all had a great selection and you'll never go hungry. Asian was our favourite though. Drinks - all were pretty good and a wide selection available. The only fault (which isn't a biggy) is that towels in the room are thread bare but thats me being picky. My major gripe is about guests- I get some go several times a year and have done for many years but I also paid for same holiday- lost count of the number of times some felt they were entitled and jumped queue at bar or restaurants, were downright rude pushing past us. But it wouldn't put me off going again. A fabulous hotel that caters for everything you need.

    Terrible food!!

My partner and I are just back from staying in this hotel. We stayed here for a week. We had never stayed in an all-inclusive hotel before, and we never will be staying in one again! My parents have stayed in a few all inclusives around europe, and have always had good things to say about the food in them, so we thought the food here would be good as the place had good reviews overall.. we thought wrong. The quality of the food was absolutely shocking! I am not a picky person, but this food was really bad. There was a variety of options, but all just really poor quality. On our first night there we ate in the Italian restaurant, the pizza slices were all extremely dry, the pasta sauces were definitely not home made. We were extremely disappointed with the food overall. The whole point of an all inclusive hotel is the food, and this food is really poor. There was a snack area beside the pool bar, and every day it was frankfurter sausage hotdogs and burgers, which became quite repetitive as this was all we really would eat in the hotel. We had to eat out every night, which costed us a lot on top of staying in the hotel for the week, which was cheap at all either! I will say the pool area was gorgeous. There was activities on during the day which were good fun. This hotel would be great if you had small children. The rooms were also clean. Overall I would not recommend to stay here, and I would not come back!
