    December break

Just returned this morning from a last minute stay as a family of 8 ( 3yrs - 60's) at the Riu Buenavista. The hotel and grounds were fantastic, spotlessly clean, our 1 and 2 bedroom rooms were fantastic with views to the Hard Rock Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We knew Playa Paraiso was a lot quieter than central Adeje and that suited us just fine. We would have preferred a little more for the children to do in terms of maybe a corner of the hotel with pool/snooker tables, Euro rides for the little one to sit on etc. (having recently been to Menorca she loved those!) In terms of the food, we never managed to get booked into any of the restaurants during our stay so cant comment on them. We all felt that the Yaiza buffet restaurant just couldn't cope with the amount of guests staying, (possibly consider using the Atlantico as an alternative buffet restaurant at night to help cope, as they do for breakfast and lunch?) especially our last night (Saturday) it was just carnage in there just before 7PM. Children let to run riot (one boy had is hand in the bowl of parmesan cheese shovelling it out onto his plate when there was a perfectly good serving spoon! and some very rude/ignorant adults which we hadn't encountered on any of our previous days. Having been on many all-inclusive holidays (a few Riu's too) we are fully aware of how the food can get a little repetitive but unfortunately on this occasion we found the food choices to be poor with virtually the same thing every night. There were no 'themed' nights that you would find in a lot of all-inclusive hotels to vary the menus, and to get their 'main event' (cooked meat, usually pork!) each night the queuing was ridiculous. It is a real shame as we thought the hotel itself was the best we have stayed in for some time but the food and lack of facilities for the children just let it down for us. Regardless, we had a lovely week but unfortunately it isn't a Riu we would be returning to.

    Rui Buenavista December break.

Just returned today after spending 1 week at this hotel. This is the 3rd year of going to this hotel and I cannot understand why it gets so many poor reviews. The hotel is very clean and the staff all very pleasant. They work very hard in making your stay enjoyable. We went to all three booked restaurants and I must say that the grill was by far our favourite. Some say that the food in the buffet restaurants is very repetitive, and I must agree, but there is so many choices. Soups meats pastas pizza burgers salads, I could go on, something different to have each day. Some always try to compare this hotel to others they have stayed at, but this hotel is great value for money. If I could change anything it would be three things. 1. Insist everyone uses hand sanitizer before entering the restaurants, if they refuse, refuse them from entering. 2. Stop parents allowing their children to stand on the food counters, I saw this on more than 1 occasion. 3. Have someone serve the ice-cream. How is it acceptable to put the ice-cream scoop into the chocolate ice-cream then without cleaning it, put it straight into the other flavours. Children I could accept, but adults, come on. Plenty of sun beds, even if some guest are out at 05:30 putting their towels on them. 24 hour bar and have never had a problem with the amount or quality of the drinks. Will definitely be returning. Absolute rip off

Absolute rip off. All inclusive 2 weeks value for money was terrible. Rooms are nice, but all the rest sucks. Food is really low quality level, like in a school canteen level. Got multiple times raw chicken from the frying point. All grilled meat poor quality meat and good-looking desserts don't fix the main food quality problem. Drinks, beer was basic lager, wines probably cheapest what they have found, booze was all local cheapest brands and really taste like that also. Some of us did get stomach disease on 2nd week and after asking multiple times from travel agency "is there some stomach epidemic going on as in the 2nd week restaurant staff started spray every customer hands disinfectant..." answer was first "NO..." but than they gave new answer "in winter months stomach epidemics are increasing heavily and are common". So why they can't tell that in advance and I would choose totally different place for vacation. Children evening entertainment is really bad, luckily there was a good children pool, but that's not enough for two weeks. Overall extremely over priced and we really feel robbed. I don't recommend it anyone. I only give 2 out of 5 because room was only good thing there, but never again. If I we wanted something decent food like a good dinner, we did had to take a taxi and went outside from hotel area to a proper restaurant.

Decent Hotel, not the best for location

Stayed here for a week in early December. HOTEL Nice and big complex and very clean and spotless. Rooms were a decent size with a nice powerful shower. No mini bar, fridge is empty and you need to get your own water from lobby bar. Apparently you should have a bottle of water on arrival. We were on 2nd floor with a sea view, it was the last part of hotel over looking the atlantica restaurant. We thought bit was a good location for us. Plenty of sunbeds across the complex and we never struggled to get our spot at the second pool down from the infinity pool. Theres no shop on site which was disappointing, just a bit inconvenient for any essentials you may need and have to go in to the resort for. Hotel is on a bit of bank and could be a struggle for some people with mobility issues. There were Patio heaters first few nights in the main entertainment floor then removed, they made a reappearance the morning after white party! ENTERTAINMENT. In our opinion this what lets the hotel down. It was terrible for the first few nights, although last couple of nights were good especially the white party even the slight rain and wind didn’t dampen the atmosphere.. the first few nights the solo acts were bad...its all about opinions and that was ours. FOOD and drink They do gluten free bottled beer/ lager which is rare so that was a great touch. We had to ask for small measures or get an extra soft drink from the self service pop station, some gave massive measures even when asking for small. All allergens are clearly marked and plenty of choices. We ate in both the main restaurants for breakfast and lunch, the Atlanticia is a lot smaller for choice but decent. Gluten free bread is available on request. We ate in the Italian and got gluten free pasta with a bolognaise sauce. Really nice too. We got Gluten free pasta and we even got a lovely Gluten free pizza in main restaurant . If you want these you should order the night before with a time for... nothing like that was any trouble and Jordi who looked after us was great Would we recommend this hotel, of course we would, would we return? Probably not. Resort its self isn’t big at all in Playa Paraiso. One maybe 2 bars, few little shops and some restaurants, mainly Indians and pizza places.
