El Cid
Let me begin this review by stating if you are wanting a vacation on a beautiful, blue water beach do not go. If you are wanting a vacation on a beach that is all inclusive, go. The beach was disappointing with boulder walls and rocks beneath the water. The water was brown in color. El Cid is a typical all inclusive resort. We upgraded our room to have two beds and a drop down bed as well as a pool outside of our room. Very nice as we never worried about marking lounge chairs or a crowd. Many pools on the property to enjoy. There is an adults only infinity pool that overlooks the beach that has an unpleasant odor from the ocean. Drink more and you may become immune. Main pool with jumping cliff was always full of people. Room was fine for two adults and two teenagers. Beds were hard as rocks. If you like a stiff bed you will be fine. Room was clean. Room service was good. Utilize the butler. Immanuel took care of our needs. Food was okay. Again your typical all inclusive buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you want reservations make them before you arrive if possible. Definitely recommend the French restaurant. Japanese restaurant was entertaining. Food was good. We were supposed to get Italian restaurant but lady doing reservations gave us international American restaurant. Not good. Best part of food experience was bringing fish back from fishing trip and the chief at The Market fixing it for lunch. What a presentation as well as delicious. Favorite part for teens was coffee shop. We never went hungry. Worst part of food experience was people with no etiquette. Children, teens, and adults who ate in buffet lines and put dirty plates down as they were waiting for grilling. Children and teens who think they are entitled to saving tables. You are seated by a hostess who seats you for the number you request. Adults need to do better by setting the example for the children and correcting behaviors when needed. Booked fishing trip and dolphin experience at resort. Both great experiences for our family. Overall service was good for an all inclusive. Environment was clean. Book elsewhere if you are coming for the beach. If you want a beach experience go to Aruba, Bahamas, or Turks. Would I return? No, as I’m a beach person that wants the white sand clear water beach experience.

The Perfect Anniversary Getaway Thanks to an Amazing Team
We had a wonderful experience at El Cid. The food was amazing and so refreshing. It was such a treat to have fresh fruit with seeds that actually tasted natural, not overly sweet or bland. Everything, from the caramel to the chocolate, tasted real. The fruit smoothies were also a highlight because they were made with real fruit instead of being loaded with syrups like so many are in the USA. We had three butlers who rotated during our stay: Fredy, Ricardo, and Omar. All three were absolutely amazing and each of them did something special for my husband and me during our anniversary trip. They made our stay feel incredibly personal and thoughtful. From setting up our room with champagne, glass bottles arranged with hearts, towel doves, and real rose petals across the bedroom, to spraying our room with aromatherapy whenever we requested, every detail was intentional and beautifully done. My husband’s favorites were Ricardo and Fredy, mainly because they took extra time to explain our platinum membership and really helped guide us throughout our stay. Omar was also very helpful and made sure all of our reservations were scheduled on the first day we arrived, which made everything seamless. The housekeeping staff was excellent as well. They did a wonderful job cleaning and refreshing our room daily. I love coming to Mexico, and this was my first time staying at El Cid. I will definitely be back, and next time we plan to bring our kids.

Annual 3week visit
Each year my wife and I visit El CID Marina in Puerto Morelos for 3 weeks. This was our 9th consecutive year. Lodging, services, food are always excellent. Most outstanding (always) are the butler services. This year we enjoyed working with Ivan Garcia and Alejandro Niembro. They were always prompt, friendly and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. We have already booked our 10th stay for March of 2027. We highly recommend El Cid on the Riviera Maya.

Abnia Bar at El Cid
Angle the bartender in the Abnia bar is fantastic! Always made sure we had what we needed and was very friendly. Angle is the reason we came back to the Abnia bar every night and when we come back to El Cid we will be looking for our favorite bartender!
