We stayed at the Parador for three nights, and it was terrific. Our accommodations were lovely, well-appointed and stocked, and very comfortable. The classic hotel has beautiful places to eat, sit, read, or write. We had daily delicious and healthy breakfasts, in addition to one lunch and one dinner, all of which were great. The staff was accommodating-- arranging cars, making suggestions, and always maintaining a cheerful attitude. The hotel is brilliantly situated near the plaza where all of life seems to take place. We visited at various times of the day, and it was always teeming with families, music, vendors, and children playing and laughing. There were terrific art galleries nearby. And the Cinco de Maya parade passed right in front of our hotel- we couldn't have planned it better! The downside of the hotel is that there is no elevator, so we trudged up and down two flights of stairs many times a day. The other is that they have wild birds (about six) caged independently in the main sitting room. The songs were undoubtedly lovely, but it saddened me to see them.

Caring staff, very authentic, bids in well cared for cages everywhere, good service, my only hesitation is that the rooms are a bit dark but great value. The restaurant is simple, good breakfasts, we had dinner there as well, colors are vibrant, definitely recommend

An Excellent Stay
We spent seven nights at the Parador San Miguel Oaxaca and loved every minute. What a gem. The location is perfect for getting around central Oaxaca on foot. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. The restaurant was charming and had delicious food and outstanding service. The entire staff at the hotel was fantastico! This will be our first choice when we return to Oaxaca.

Great Place to stay
Great hotel! Nice rooms; nice restaurant; good location. We had a small suite which had a table and sofa, and spacious room… we used all of it. Our room opened to an inside patio so it was not as noisy. The atmosphere on its patio was relaxed and friendly (they have rescued birds there which I loved.) there are other outdoor sitting areas on the third floor… one is open to the city. Easy walking distance to all the sights.

Mar 10, 2023Be aware of deposit required for ‘breakages’
I would have rated this hotel slightly higher but for the disagreement we had when checking in. They seemed to think it was OK to have my credit card details or 1000 peso as a deposit in case we ‘damaged something’ or even worse ‘stole one their towels’. Needless to say, we were not impressed and only because our booking agent stood as guarantor for us did we get our room key! The hotel itself is average and the breakfast is less than average.
