Third rooms a charm
Holiday in claims all their rooms are non-smoking. The first room they gave our family smelled like a casino/bar. It had a stale Smokey smell and I believe someone spilled a bunch of beer on the floor. We went to the desk and they gave us our second room. It wasn’t the smell of the second room that was horrible but more the hallway. It seamed everybody around our room was stuck in a Cheech and Chong movie. The marijuana smell was so strong the second room started to stink. We contemplated staying because the entire state of Florida smells like weed these days, but there were ants everywhere in the room. Not knowing whether to laugh or get pissed we went back to the front desk. They gave us our third room, which was the nicest of the three and we finally felt like our weekend started. They waived our parking fee for the weekend, which was nice. We also called the front desk five times and no one ever picked up. I would recommend this hotel as a last resort for a family stay and okay if you’re a young college student on a budget.

Not again
Booked double bed premium room, NOTHING premium here, no microwave, tiny refrigerator, pay for parking, pay for breakfast which was very poor quality. bathroom is 5' x 5' smallest tub I have ever seen. Very poor water pressure. Won't be returning stay on the Universal property hotels there are much nicer.

We have choosen the Holiday Inn due to my membership with IHG as well as the distance to Universal studios. The hotel offers also a free shuttle to the studios ( reservation required) Breakfast we had at Fridays next door.

They have a history of dishonesty and never answer the phone.
We stayed a total of 6 nites. We added on 3 extra nights making a total of six. When we made the reservation we were mislead by the Holiday Inn booking agent on the phone. We were unaware that we were paying $263 a night. The total of almost $900 was mis-communicated to us as the rate for the entire 3 nite stay. More than what we paid for our previous reservation at the hotel (March 28-April 2) As a result we checked out of the hotel early and stayed only 1 night. April 2nd to 3rd. We requested a refund for the remaining 2 nites we were not at the hotel. This refund was provided. However, the next day a hotel staff member "Stacy" was misinformed or received lack of communication from the hotel staff about us checking out and went about charging our card for a total of $594. We called and disputed this illegal charge. Given that we already checked out we were charged. Despite the hotel's claim that a refund was provided. The amount of $594 never re-appeared in our account. We have since and continue to go back and forth between the hotel and the corporate office about the issue. Despite this, the hotel is impossible to reach with all lines including the fax number not functioning. Our on phone chat with the hotel ranged from a mildly hostile representative who suggested that I "not go into my bank in person" to speak with them about the illegal charge on my bank statement from the hotel. In addition I was blown off by the hotel, as it was explained to me that the issue is between me and my bank. And not to call the hotel back over the matter. because as far as they are concerned the matter has concluded. This was the customer service I received. The more questions I asked about our billing issue, the more seemed to annoy and agitate the hotel representative(s) "stacy" and "Angel" who eventually began to become somewhat hostile. From the start our room very smelled badly (of sewage), dirty sheets were found and the air con unit smelled greatly when turned on. The filter was never changed. The toilet kept stopping up. It was a horrible experience from start to finish and our billing situation has yet to be resolved. As a IHG member I am beyond disappointed. I guess this is what you can expect on a business trip with this company. I Do Not recommend this place. Look up their reviews across the internet and you will find countless statements of criminal activities that include illegal over-billing, illegal charges/authorizations, hidden fees and worse. Avoid this place at all costs. Take your family and children elsewhere and protect your money. We were an official part of the Orlando Megacon event for 2023 on business. We have already shared a transcript of our experience with this Holiday Inn / IHG to all of our colleagues in the entertainment industry as well as our contacts in Hollywood at Universal production studios directly. We were not tourists. I am a silver level member of IHG one rewards program and this is the kind of treatment you can expect.

Not recommended
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Universal Studios... we had some inconveniences due to cleanliness in the room. We called the Front desk and almost waiting for 40 minutes, a brunette lady arrived who reported herself as the housekeeping manager. I don't like messing with anyone's work, but this lady was very unprofessional. She didn't even greet us cordially and when I show her what we found (stained sheets and missing towels) she tells me that they are not available due to lack of inventory that she could not do anything for that day! this is serious??? She definitely lacks training... if she really is a manager, what can be expected from the team or the rest of the hotel!!! I’m not returning to this hotel… have a good potential because the area… but needs better personal!
