Enjoy an expensive construction zone
This is a classical tourist trap, where rooms are not too expensive and everything else onsite is overpriced. It is a bit of a remote area, so there is not much around (although there are a few options) if you don't have a car. Expect $60 for a basic buffet breakfast with overdone scrambled eggs. In on of the local restaurants, an unremarkable piece of meat with rice costs close to $90. In general, anything you do beyond walking on the lava rocks around the property will cost you extra and top dollars, even down to sitting on a bench near the lagoon. For my stay, I was parked in a zone of the hotel that was under renovation. As I am Diamond on their program, I suppose that this was the "better treatment", so I wonder how bad the other rooms are (or it may be that they just don't care about their Diamond members because we already spent a lot). I cannot post audio files, but this is the view from my room. All day long, there were loud construction machines running right out my window, with people going up and down and staring inside my room. I was lulled all day long by drills in concrete, jack hammers and alike, I measured up to 78 decibels in my room (that's the level of heavy traffic). In short, I paid to spend a week in a demolition site. And when I complained, they responded with the same lame answer you see for other people on this page who noticed how sub-par this place has become, with a content-less "we are sorry that you have a bad experience" (you are sorry and...? well, nothing, we have your money, we don't care beyond that). There is a nice Marriott down the street, it is also a tourist trap, but not under construction.

Great Property and Outstanding Staff
Beautiful property. The staff is great. Raquel, the lobby Concierge was very helpful throughout my stay. Big Island Breakfast was a good way to start the day and have Vanessa T as my server. Nui Italian was tasty for dinner. The best, however, was being greeted by Esther at the front every night and watching Napua effortlessly handle the bar, fetch the bar patron dinner orders, act as the information spot for those who came in the back way, and durect those who were in the hallway. All thus while taking time to interact with patrons

High praise for hard working employees
Amidst opportunities for Hilton Waikoloa as a brand and property I would like to recognize some hard working individuals inside. Esther and the waitresses at Nui restaurant at Hilton Waikoloa Village were outstanding. Approachable, kind, humble, detail oriented and observant. They remembered my name, even when saying goodbye, and welcomed me back in the future. Can’t speak highly enough of them. Abby, guest concierge who booked excursions for me was: informative, set proper expectations, transparent with pricing and had great follow up cadence. Lindsay at Kings Land sales office was one of the most genuine sales people I have met. She has a level of customer focus far beyond her role. She was great at actively listening, making recommendations and empathetic. Received constructive feedback very well. Though I did not buy, she represented the brand well. She has all the ingredients in a great leader.
