Meanwhile back in 1990s America
First time staying Hilton, Expected a little more... Thats how I felt, like we were staying in 1990s America, Tower 1 room on 33rd floor great view when no fog, but the rooms need updating the old style coffee machine, the decor, the bathroom. (great toiletries for shower) It was clean, staff excellent throughout stay, housekeeping did their job when asked, just let down by 2 things...the condition of the building/decor & price of B'fast. I won't mention the breakfast costs, that are ridiculously over priced for what is available only had it for ease on a day we were booked on a tour. Much better places close by for a lot less. Rooftop bar - no problems here found it a great place for late evening drink after a long day out, a couple of nights was busy probably with conference guests but was ok. The view is amazing especially watching the fog roll in from the Pacific. The location is great for access to Powell St cable car & BART station to /from SFO airport - but yes SF has a issue all over with homeless people, at no point did I feel intimidated by anyone but its a BIG problem something that the USA needs to sort (but that's not Hiltons fault) and it should not put you off the area. Overall I'd stay again, but would hope it's had a major refurb before I do, to get it in the 21st century (Hint Nespresso coffee machine and cheaper b'fast) because I didn't want to give it 3*s (The staff would easily get 4.5* anyday)

Such a mixed experience
A mixed experience. Check in was great, very friendly ladies who were chatty and sweet with our son. We had interconnecting rooms in Tower 3 - they were 2x double beds in each so teeny-tiny for a couple. The rooms were dark, outdated and very worn out. Housekeeping however was excellent with fresh towels, water and high quality cleaning every day. The cafe shop in the lobby was super-convenient and meant we could avoid the (outrageously priced) breakfast in the main restaurant. The biggest issues were location and the ‘resort fee’. The location is not great. You are advised by all staff, Uber drivers, concierge etc to not turn left out of the reception. I can’t see this hotel being open in a year or 2 due to the refurbishment needs of tower 3 and the worrying location. Second issue is the resort fee. $25 per day per room which is given as a credit to room charges and the internet. I’m sorry - just charge more rather than dress it up, it’s highly irritating. It’s a shame because the staff are clearly wonderful and a credit to the brand.

Great hotel but avoid the restaurant
Hotel staff and quality of the room and service received were great. Great location for getting about the city to explore the many attractions and places of interest. I would say AVOID the Poached restaurant at all cost, absolute rip off at $60 each for an average at best buffet breakfast - the same hotel chain in LA charged us $24!!!

Worst service in San Fran
City Scape bar is the worst experience I have had in San Francisco when it comes to bar service. Was denied service due to having a foreign government issued ID. Funny thing was it was accepted in the lobby bar with no issues. Having a government issued ID is valid. All throughout California and in San Francisco I’ve never had an issue. The staff were completely rude in their approach towards the issue. I would rate the service a zero if could. Discrimination at its best. Drink prices are high . Would suggest only coming to look at the view and avoid buying any drinks due to their rude behaviour.

Great location
We stayed here 5-8th May 2023. We were greeted at reception by a lady who tried to sell us an upgrade. When I refused she stated that she had kindly upgraded us anyway. When we got to our room in block 1, floor 8, room 85 the view was horrific. It was a view of a store cupboard, when rubbish thrown out of higher windows collected. The room itself was dated, we had one large bed, a table and chairs to sit and look at the wonderful view and a mini fridge. The bathroom was clean, but there was no hairdryer available. We found that we had to pay the resort fees, but you get $25 a day back to spend in-house. I felt that this was a con, just don’t charge you that instead. The location was great. Very close to shops and the BART.
