Better than expected
Traveled during spring break. Resort was sold out but never felt too crowded. Beautiful lobby. All staff was warm and friendly. Front desk helped us smoothly switch rooms when we needed a bath tub. Rooms and common spaces were very clean. Live music on the pool deck during sunsets. Can easily walk across the street to several shops, restaurants, and 2 ice cream shops.

Average at best!
My wife and I just returned from Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa for our combined birthday celebration, so we decided to splurge a little bit since we knew it was one of only two resorts in Marco and was quite the high nightly fee. We have heard from several of our friends that Marco Island is a great place to go, so looking at the pictures of the resort, it looked amazing. So you can imagine we were expecting something close to 4 star as advertised. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly, but fast talking receptionist. I requested early check in which they were able to accommodate, so that was great. They made us wear a bracelet to move around the grounds which was a little annoying and made us feel like we were on Spring break at a keg party. Not really necessary seeing there are only 2 resorts to stay and pretty easy to keep track of guests. It wasn't like the bracelets got us into exclusive events, so again, not sure why it was necessary. We went up to our room and it was quite spacious (king with partial ocean view). It had a small balcony looking out at the expansive and well kept beach. The first thing I noticed was the headboard had 2 large rips on each side and both lamp shades were broken. Not a good look for an $800/per night room. The furniture was dated, the coffee table in front of the couch rocked so bad I had to put cardboard underneath one of the feet so it wouldn't be annoying while doing anything on the table. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were very budget. I know that's a personal preference, but it didn't feel like a good quality bed. It was clean, but you could hear everything coming from the other rooms. Sneezing, talking, whatever. So much that you almost felt compelled to keep your own conversation to a whisper so no one else could hear. Again, not a luxurious feel. More like a budget motel. We were at the tail end of the spring break, so there were lots and lots of families there. The pool was packed everyday, but that was fine since we enjoy staying on the beach most of the day anyway. However, the quality and the comfort of the beach chairs was lacking. This is where the investment of the resort should be going. The comfort of the guests is the top priority. That is what is remembered. The towels they provided were from 1980 and was pretty embarrassing to hand out to guests. All different styles, faded, very low quality. Definitely needed new ones. It's those types of little things that go a long way to making a resort feel higher end. The fitness room was also a joke. Small, dated equipment, and not even close to what a fitness room of a "resort" that size should be. We have stayed at small boutique style places that have had beautiful fitness rooms 1/16 the size of this large resort. No excuse why this one is still from 1990! Marco Island is a beautiful, well kept, clean, friendly place to be. Overall, I would rate this resort at about a C- at best. It is a shame, as like I said, it is some of the little things that make it special that don't take much effort, but this place seemed to fall short in some of those important details. If they want to elevate their game and make people feel like they spent their money wisely, they need to pay attention to the details.

Just ok, not kid friendly, spend a little more for the JW Marriott just down the beach
Ok… just ok. The hotel is fine but needs a serious update. The staff is not very kid friendly. There is just one mediocre restaurant on site. The pool needs remodeled. The gym needs an update. 1. You can tell this hotel was built in the 80’s and had a face lift. The lobby is the first thing you see when you walk in and is pretty sad. It is very telling about the your experience. 2. I watched the staff on multiple occasions scold kids about just being kids. Sure kids are noisy and messy but it went a bit too far on multiple occasions (didn’t scold my kids) 3. The restaurant is just ok like the rest of the hotel. The food is marginal and the food offering is very limited. 4, Wow the pool is sad, there are waterfalls but they barely work and have mold flying out of it. The pool rules are ‘No splashing, no horse play, no ball play’. I mean you can just float basically which is not fun for kids at all. 5. The gym has one bench and mini smith machine located in the spa building. There are hairballs in the corners of the gym and needs seriously cleaned. Spend slightly more money and go the JW Marriott just down the beach. They have 5 restaurants onsite. Tons of kids activities has very recently been fully updated and multiple pools that allow kids to have fun. Had we not booked on Hilton points we would have moved after one night. This year we are going to be staying in Marriott’s just to save up for the JE next year. It is truly top notch
