Great staff, good location and comfortable quiet room.
Stayed in an executive suite for a one night stay and despite the building looking like a construction site from the outside, the warm welcome from within off the doorman and check in staff removed any concerns. Apparently the renovations are nearly complete and the only evidence of any ongoing building work internally was that the room windows were covered in a film that prevented any visibility of the external scaffolding which did darken the room somewhat. There was no noise, but I suspect that as my visit was over the weekend, the construction work may have been suspended. Despite this, the room was comfortable, clean with a very spacious bathroom. The exec lounge was as good as ever and the staff were amazing. I found the breakfast in the lounge a little disappointing however. Location is ideal for the Tate Modern and a short walk over the Millennium Bridge brings you into the heart of the city. This is a great hotel which has great access to all areas of the city and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Nice rooms and good breakfast - but ...
I stayed recently at this hotel with my partner for a long WE in London. We usually stay at Conrad St James, which is an amazing hotel regarding all aspects, but this time we decided to try Hilton Bankside. Although they claim to have 5 stars like the Conrad, what a difference there was! It was truly not the experience we expected. To start with the pro's, the rooms are nicely appointed, in brown and grey colors, with a walk-in shower. Breakfast was very good, with a lot to choose from at the buffet and from the open kitchen, where you can order eggs, waffles and pancakes. Coming to the con's, our room didn't have a safe, or an espresso machine, as is usual for an hotel of this category. There was only a kettle and tea/instant coffee bags. Our window was also frosted, which gave us a somewhat claustrophobic feeling. Windows at the restaurant were also frosted by the way. And do you know why? Because the entier building is surrounded by scaffoldings and construction work is going on, which was not disclosed when we booked or even before our arrival. That meant noise in the hallways from 8 am onward, and then banging / drilling after 9 am, plus workers walking right outside the frosted window. Of course, that woke us up in the morning. This, or the fire alarm that went off mistakenly at 7.30 am on the next morning. Needless to say it wasn't the relaxing stay we had hoped for. I mentionned these problems at check-out. Apart from apologizing and ensuring she would "pass on" my comments, the reception attendant wasn't of much help. She offered a compensation of 5'000 Hilton Honors points, which sounds nice on the paper but doesn't bring much given the recent devaluation. For me, a hotel claiming to have 5 stars should at least offered a discount in the room rate, because what's the point of a hotel if not to ensure its guests a restful night sleep? Not here apparently, and it looked like they were just trying to brush off the complaint instead of handling it in a true 5 stars way. Which leads me to add that we didn't receive great service in general, all staff were polite but lacking in warmth, unlike at the Conrad where every employee goes the extra mile to ensure the guest is satisfied. All in all, we will most probably not go back to this hotel, even after the construction works are completed.

The best stay
Another wonderful stay at Hilton Bankside. warm greetings from Daniel at concierge and great service too from Noor, Johanna, Sam and Amen at front desk. The Christmas decorations are amazing We enjoyed lunch at the distillery bar. Suite 249 is now our firm favourite. Early evening canapés and vino in the executive lounge before heading off for dinner. Domenico in the lounge is lovely. Great sleep, the beds are the best. Fluffy omelette made by chef Ali at OXBO for breakfast. Then time for a swim b4 check out. ‘We are only here for a short time. Don’t worry, don’t hurry and don’t forget to smell the roses along the way’ . This is how we always feel when staying here, our favourite hotel.

Nice hotel.
I stayed for three nights with my kids. There was a lot of construction going on so afternoon naps are out. The people were super nice. The breakfast was great. It’s in a decent location for walking things on that side of the river. The beds are very comfortable.
