Absolutely Horrible. It’s As If Hilton Doesn’t Know This Property Exists.
This is a horrible hotel. For all the people who wrote that this hotel is bad, and for all the people like me who wanted to believe that those negative people were wrong, here’s the thing: they were completely correct. It is astonishing that Hilton permits its flag to be flown over this property. It’s clear the franchise owner couldn’t care less about it — it seems Hilton has a corporation doesn’t either. The hotel is noisy. Not the guests, but the physical hotel. The elevators in Tower of Terror at Disney are quieter than the elevators in this hotel. There is a weird wheezing noise that you can hear the second you walk into the lobby — and it just stays, as if voices are trapped in the walls. But we know that couldn’t be the case, because the walls are too thin for anything to be trapped inside. Want to hear what your “neighbor” is talking about? Just listen! Want to smell what they’re eating? Just breathe in! Want to know what it looked like in 1960 when air conditioning units under windows in motels was a thing? Just look at your window! There are very few brand name hotels where you need to wear noise canceling headphones. But if you’re hoping to try out the noise canceling ability of the new Airpod Pro 3s, this is the place to do it. But even high tech can’t drown out the noise. Now let’s talk about dinner. Hilton Garden Inns have a quality that, like the Marriott Courtyard, put them on the top of mid-range properties for business travelers who just want to fly in, work, have dinner without leaving, and then do whatever they came to the area to do. Unfortunately, this HIlton Garden Inn, despite having a restaurant, doesn’t actually serve food! Sure, there’s a $16 breakfast that wipes out the $10 credit top level travelers get — but it’s slightly less acceptable than the free breakfast you’d get at a Hampton Inn. But dinner… nope! If you want to eat, you need to walk about half a mile to the outside mall, where you can choose the staples of Yard House, PF Chang, or Cheesecake Factory. Despite listing a restaurant on the website, this Hilton Garden Inn doesn’t offer real food. The hotel itself is dirty. The housekeeper’s hair — or someone’s hair — greeted me in my bathroom when I arrived. The carpets are stained. The walls are gross. The wallpaper is patched like a bandaid on third degree burn. To sum it up, if you haven’t figured it out: this is a horrible property. Everyone else who wrote that it’s horrible couldn’t have been more correct. Don’t do it. Don’t save the extra ten bucks from similarly-branded hotels (Hilton, Marriott, or even Holiday Inn Express) and stay here. They need to knock it down and rebuild it. California needs to come in and say, “No. This is not okay.” Like many people, I stay in hotels almost weekly. I have rarely seen anything as bad as this.

Not maintained
I’ve been to many Hilton Properties and this was one of the worst I stayed at. It was not what I expected especially the location this property is at. It is not well maintained. The rug around the property is dirty and very old. Some parts are torn and I almost tripped from it. Parts of the main hallways are hot and also the elevator. This place smelled old. The AC in the room I stayed in was so loud and sounded like the an airplane taking off. It was hard to sleep. There were ants in the bathroom and our room was on the second floor. Pool area was dirty. Dirty towels everywhere and there were no clean towels available.

Good Stay
Good 4 night stay. Front desk staff were friendly and quick on their feet. Ashley in the breakfast area was terrific, and the freshly made omelettes were excellent. The only downside of my stay was the time it took to receive breakfast. On one day, I waited 22 minutes for my omelette with only 6 people in the breakfast area. I did have a problem with the TV in my room, but the service fellow had it fixed in about 15 minutes. Zero view from room 205, but it was nice and quiet. I appreciated the free parking. Would definitely stay here again.

Sad way to end a great experience.
My family and myself have been loyal customers for years. After a two day stay in July 2024 we found out a week later that they had permanently closed the following week. I see now that the web site is still up and showing the rooms but with no availability. So many people have been trying get answers with no response. On my visits to Palm Springs I see the driveways blocked off for no admittance but the signs are still up as though the hotel is still open. Come on people at least give an explanation to inquiring people or close down your web site completely. Very unprofessional and down right rude. The 2 star rating is because of how the closure was handled and not due to our past experiences in staying at this establishment. :-( This review is for The Vagabond Inn, Palm Springs, CA 1699 So. Difficult to shower in accessible room
This hotel has been my home away from home for annual trips to the Palm Springs area for almost 30 years. This was my first visit since covid and the hotel seems to have seen better days. On arriving, I noticed the trash can outside was overflowing and it was even more overflowing the next morning at 7 am. Carpets seemed like they could use a cleaning. I always had accessible room 215 but they gave me 116, saying it was configured the same as 215. I found they had removed the tub and it was a straight shower. That was fine except - instead of the shower head being in the same place as the tub, it is in the middle of the long wall facing out toward the bathroom. The nozzle could not be adjusted to point downward so you could not stand under the nozzle and get wet and wash at same time. Tried holding nozzle in one hand and washing with other which didn't really work very well. In the end, even with the shower curtain, the entire floor of the bathroom was wet and had to use all the towels to wipe up the floor. Front desk staff was sympathetic and indicated it was a poor design. I shortened my trip by one day as I just did not have the patience to deal with this.
