Pleasant experience
The hotel is at the far end of a spit of land called Bocagrande, a reasonable way away from the historic centre. We spent a couple of nights in the historic centre and then moved here for a more relaxed vibe, which worked well. The neighbourhood and Hilton both feel like faded glory, with the former definitely not looking its best. Many of the roads were flooded when we visited and the whole area doesn’t feel at all special. It did feel pretty safe walking around, though. Check-in by Esteban was exemplary and Freddy the bellboy was super friendly. We were upgraded to a sea-view room and my Hilton status was recognised. Our room could definitely have done with a comprehensive refurb, as it had an early 2000s vibe. The soundproofing was extremely poor and we could hear the adjoining room’s TV at all times. We loved the extensive pools and they made up for the sea being super rough during our visit and basically inaccessible. When we did venture to the beach it was marginally less hassle than more public beaches. The pools are very much showing their age, with many little tiles coming off. Breakfast was extensive, although busy. The fresh smoothies were a particular highlight. The executive lounge on the top floor was adequate and the staff particularly friendly and pleasant. The hotel will need a significant upgrade and refurbishment if it’s to compete with the many new hotels in Cartagena, but we felt we got good value for the money we paid.

Jonathan and Esteban were great!!!!
My go to hotel when I'm in Cartagena! Although my girlfriend and her family were very ill, Jonathan at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of! He showed us the he really cared and was concerned by checking in with me several times a day. He is definitely amazing! Esteban also helped us a lot at the front desk! Thank you very much for an amazing stay!

Very good choice
Excellent hotel with great rooms and the most comfortable beds ever. Great breakfast and excellent pool area. Comfortable sun beds but it was very busy around the pool but it was new year so to be expected. We liked the tennis and paddle courts. The only downside was the need to play ridiculously loud music around the pool in the afternoons. We did actually complain about this as it was so loud but it seems to be a thing in Colombia. The beach was ok and better than the beaches along the coast. The evening meals had a good choice but we only ate here once as it was very expensive compared to what you can get in the old town. Easy and cheap to get taxis to the old town from the hotel. It was very nice coming back to the Hilton after a night out though. This is a very good hotel for anyone in Cartagena. Our flights got cancelled and we were put in the Ibis for two nights and my goodness it was awful I really missed the Hilton then. I would definitely stay here again.

Unsafe and atrocious service.
I am currently staying at this hotel, and it is by far the worst Hilton experience I have had in terms of service and amenities for diamond members. I chose this property to celebrate my birthday, and as a Diamond member of 15 years, there was absolutely no recognition. The staff consistently act inconvenienced when asked for even basic assistance. No one proactively checks on guests, and the overall attitude feels dismissive and unwelcoming. Customer service is truly atrocious. The so-called “private beach” is a joke. There are only a handful of chairs and umbrellas available for all guests, and even if you are lucky enough to get one, you will not have a moment of peace due to constant harassment from hawkers. You cannot safely leave any belongings unattended to go into the water. Ironically, the public beaches felt safer and more secure. I want to be very clear: the Hilton beach is extremely unsafe. I personally witnessed a child being physically pulled by a hawker while Hilton employees stood by and did absolutely nothing. Their lack of response was alarming and unacceptable. Seating at the pool was the same. Maybe my skin tone influenced the level of service which would make it even more alarming. This experience has been deeply disappointing and completely inconsistent with Hilton standards. Please avoid at all cost.
