BD celebration with family
Harrah's delivered a solid stay overall. The hotel is clean, the slots keep you entertained without draining your wallet. the friendly cocktail servier actually make their round not like at other casinos. The biggest win was they truely are dog friendly my 17yo chihuaha allowed to stay. Saw other dogs waling around. No noise from the remodeling and rooms were spotless. The downside I still cannot get a usable statement Every version they send arrives as raw computer code instead of an actual doc. even when I open on my mac, laptop after several request the issue remains the unresolved. I am not able to share the bill for the two rooms

Hotel in need of renovation
I am giving them 3 stars only because i love its location. Its an old hotel in need of an update. Hot water was down, so we bathed in icy cold water. Bathroom paint was chipped alsp the floor duck taped. I know? Right! Duck taped. Booked a king bed but the receptionist gave is a 2 queem bed instead. The flush on the toilet didnt refill automatically so i have to open the lid and adjust it so the water refills. But for its price....We can really complain much... Slots were ok at least.

How The Mighty Has Fallen
Took advantage of their fall sale, on the last night of a road trip in the area, but after a total of $132 for a $60 room, when you add on Resort Fee, Valet Parking and Taxes, I'm pretty sure they took advantage of us for the last time. Ended up on the 5th floor, room 519, for that price, with buckled carpeting, chairs with large stains, furniture that was scratched and had scraped off stain, plus they were in serious need of wiping down table tops and a better cleaning of the bathrooms. At one time, Harrah's was the go to place in South Lake Tahoe to stay, as the rooms were the best by far, they had the top entertainment in their lounge and showroom, and the restaurants were always better than everything else at stateline. I get it that times have changed, but I just don't get the paid parking for either valet or especially self park, even if you just want to stop into the casino, so we did valet so that in our late-70's, we were not having to hike in thru the elements from the outdoor lot behind the hotel. And then there is the resort fee, which in fairness, everyone else seems to charge, for ammenities we did not even use. We felt the food selection in the restaurants were limited, what ever happened to a good old coffee shop, so we bailed our truck out of valet, which we were already being charged for, and went offsite to eat. And just a heads up when checking in, putting your luggage on a luggage cart means you will have to pay a ransom to get it back from the bellman, evidently they assume you are going to steal the luggage cart, so you cannot use one on your own. Before paid parking and resort fees, you happily paid the valet attendents and bellmen, but now it seems like that you are paying twice, as it should be included in one fee or the other. So in retrospect, the beds were comfortable, but the chairs in the room, not so much. We were offered an upgrade to a higher floor for $20, but other than the view, not sure if the rooms were in any better condition. Not sure if we really needed two bathrooms, I kind of missed the old rooms that had both a phone and a second TV in the bathroom. We played in the casino, that being one of the main reasons for our stay, but made sure we kept out $60 to cover resort fees and valet. If I sound like a bitter old man, not so much bitter as disappointed when compared to all the good times I used to have at the once mighty Harrah's Lake Tahoe.
