GRAND RIVIERA PRINCESS HOTEL REVIEW
Amazing trip! Went here with family in April and we loved it! The staff were very friendly and kind, the pillows were amazing, and the pools were so nice! The food was pretty good but a few burgers weren’t very well cooked. Overall, this place is amazing and I would love to come back! Also if you are an animal lover we saw these cute animals called Coatis. We also saw deer, monkeys, capybaras, iguanas, and more. It’s nice and warm if you are also a fellow Canadian and want to get away from the cold.

Just wow, book now!!
Just wow. What an absolutely beautiful, extraordinary hotel. Our original holiday was to Dominican Republic but after TUI telling us about hotel refurbishments not even 24 hours before we fly we managed to change to Mexico. Without much research on the hotel we just changed with the mindset anything is better than a hotel under reconstruction and my god did this hotel really blow us away. Everything was extremely clean, staff all very friendly, sunbeds everywhere always loads free all day. The beach was stunning, beach bar included in the all inclusive as well as non motorised sports in the sea. We made use of the kayaks, snorkelling and paddle boarding! For trips we booked through a guy on the beach, Omar, and he was fab. For a group of 6 he gave us some good discounts with 30/40$ off per person than anyone else was offering. The swimming pools were all stunning, clear blue all day, no muckiness or murky bits from suncream! And the food was divine. Even the buffet things weren’t out for long so you know it was all fresh. We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks and it’s honestly the best 2 weeks we’d ever had. The hotel is big, and lots of walking is involved which we didn’t mind but I did hit over 10,000 steps every day without even trying! The wildlife in this hotel was my favourite part. Monkeys playing around, coti’s trying to find food anywhere, crocodiles chilling near the chill out bar, iguanas catching the suns is just to make a few! This is honestly the most perfect hotel and I can’t wait to come back soon.

Lovely stay!!
I was worried before coming reading some of the reviews. However we are leaving today after a wonderful 10 days. Hotel is big but you soon find your way around. Beautiful scenery. Check in is slow ish, we waited 20 mins with 4 people in front of us and 3 staff. However when we arrived are luggage was taken to the room for us and complimentary drinks were offered which was most welcome as we had travelled 20hrs in total with delays. Room big, we had a basic deluxe suite no extras and it is nice, dated but comfortable and more than adequate, drinks in the fridge daily coke sprite water and corona in cans. Make sure you add lime to your glass as its not the same else!. Pools massive and you can choose the quieter or busy ones. I recommend the pool nearest the beach on the left. There is shade available and plenty of sun beds no matter what time you come down. People do reserve the best shadey ones however. Food is typical buffet style. Lots of fruit, salads, cakes and desserts excellent. Pasta, meats, fish, vegetables, tacos burgers, loads of breads, sauces, and other dishes, they do vary it and you will find something you like. We are not super fussy but also like nice food. It's 7/8 out of 10. Gonzalo and david are a credit to the hotel in the buffet. There are 2 buffet restaurants sunset and riveria in the main square and restaurants above on 2nd floor. We tried all the restaurants, very nice. We had buffet first 2 nights and used the app on night 1 to book restaurants 2 days in advance around our trips. No issues at all, WiFi is fine. Entertainment was good. Neon humans great and they do aladdin, moana and horror show plus others, all fine for kids. Quiz to. Lots of activities by pool daily, water polo, aerobics, quiz and dance party if your not with kids!. Will suit all types this hotel. Beach is amazing. Free kayaks and plenty of room. Drinks on tap, volleyball. No one tried to sell us anything like people say, you can do watersports at the beach for extra. Seaweed was non existent on arrival. 3 days later there was a lot washed up but they clear it daily and its not an issue at all we found really. We did not feel the need to pay extra for swim up bar room and chill out bar option, glad we didn't as rooms are close to pool anyway. Wildlife do there business on the balcony some people told us who had a swim up room. Lots of iguanas, coatis, deer, cats. We saw monkeys once. Coaties will go in the bins and your bags looking for food but if you close your bag by pool it's fine. They don't bother you. It's quite cool seeing them. Overall lovely place and would come back. Don't be put off by negative views. Our toilet broke once and was fixed same day. Staff at pool bars are good, we tipped sometimes and not others. No issues.

Not what we expected
The buffets were very medium in quality, the reservations for the restaurants were always quickly taken, the resto bars at the pool and beach were always having food shortage before finnishing hour, the fact that there was less food choice for children was problematic. In general, with children the experience in this resort was tiring.

May 2023
We visited Grand Princess Riviera for 14 nights, there was a group on 11 of us in total. We decided to revisit Mexico as we previously had been 4 years ago to a different hotel and loved every minutes of it.0 During our stay we got married, the day start to finish was amazing and was made really relaxed, every detail was included and we can’t thank Ariana enough for how much she had gone above and beyond. The food was Ok the buffet was nothing special, basic and food was a little bland and not quick to refill when ran out. The restaurants were really tasty so would advise to book in most nights. Service at the bars was rather rubbish as the bar tenders seem to serve the “Familia” faces. Also very reliant on tips once serve hangs around to see if you’re going to tip and if you don’t next time will take longer to serve. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the wildlife are extremely friendly, a little cheeky sometimes. There’s something for everyone and all round had a lovely holiday, when visiting Mexico again would potentially choose an alternative hotel.
