Pros and Cons of our stay
Beautiful Resort, dated rooms, buffet food always cold, entertainment venues too loud, front desk staff not knowledgeable enough and not enough English to communicate effectively. Inconsistency with rules, they change depending on who you talk to. No problem dropping for A la Carte, difficult making A la Carte reservations for large group, but helpful staff. CHIC show, not to be missed, cost extra, but well worth it.

Beware - bad service and resort not maintained
We were at the grand Palladium Punta Cana from Jan 28 to Feb 4, 2026. We travelled as an extended family with 9 people (including 3 kids) and we had three separate rooms amongst all of us. To start, every single one of us had issues with our rooms ranging from being simply unclean to experiencing major maintenance issues. Also no one got the correct room type that we had booked with the resort. One set of people was eventually moved to the correct room type. We thought the loft suite we had booked for our immediate family had the option of two fulls or a king on the main level. Apparently two fulls is no longer an option so we had a king bed and a pull out in the loft area for four people. My in laws had two full beds and they certainly were not full sized beds to Canadian mattress size standards. They looked like super singles and it would be extremely tight and uncomfortable to fit two adults on their “full” sized beds. For this reason, I was actually glad we got a room with a king instead. We all had issues with our room keys/bracelets working the entire week. They would randomly stop working and need to be programmed again. The showers also leaked water out into the main living space of your suite. We all used towels around the shower in an effort to prevent this and contain the water. In our loft suite - the floor was extremely spongy feeling likely due to the fact that the bathroom sink in the loft continuously leaked. When you stepped on the floor of the loft you could literally press your foot down into the flooring. It felt unsafe and I was worried about the floor caving in. On our first night I had to have all the sheets changed as they appeared visibly dirty. I also saw roaches in the rooms on the main level of the resort. The air conditioning in our room could never get the temp down to what it was actually set at and we didn’t have an overly hot week - I can only imagine how hot the room would be if it had been a hotter week. The safe in our room had to be reset twice during our stay as it too stopped working… overall the rooms were a nightmare and need desperate work. The pool maintenance was also poor at least at the Punta Cana pool. The walking surface had a lot of loose stones which could potentially result in injury. The food I would rate a 4 out of 10. It was edible, but we did not enjoy it. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant the best of all the à la cartes that we tried. Customer service in general I found to be very poor. They were not helpful in resolving issues with the rooms and the service at the facilities was extremely poor. You were lucky if you were offered a drink while dining at the buffets. Overall, I would never return to this particular resort based on our experience. I would maybe consider one of the higher levels such as the bavaro or family select but I would definitely not return to grand palladium Punta Cana. They need to deal with all the major maintenance issues with the rooms and improve their service level significantly. It has a lot of potential to be great, but currently it’s far from it.

Slight disappointment overall good
Our stay was slightly disappointing, primarily due to communication challenges with staff caused by a language barrier. Check-in issues led to confusion about room upgrades, though management eventually resolved it. As non-drinkers, we were occasionally served alcohol, which was concerning. The bed was comfortable, but room issues impacted our experience. Oversized pillows hindered a good sleep, providing two different sizes would be helpful for guests. The sliding glass door that lead to the pool, had a locking issue. There was no way to lock the door from the patio so you had to leave it unlocked for the convenience of the walk out. The safe seemed to have been tampered with previously so you had to hold the door only in the bottom left corner in order for it to lock. The fridge wasn't stocked nor was the bedding replaced with clean sheets – they even took the top sheet without replacing it, despite tipping well. They don’t use fitted sheets so if you move a lot so did the bottom sheet. Humidity was so bad that everything was damp every day. We tried to adjust the a/c and heat but nothing changed the humidity or temperature. We did see a cockroach or two which didn't help but not surprising. Our bracelet room keys didn't work, requiring a key card. However, this still didn’t work for the patio door. Positives include the pool area's ambiance and convenient room location. We reserved a day bed by the pool and that was very enjoyable. The champagne and fresh fruit were an added bonus. The swim up pool bartender was amazing. I so wish I could remember his name. However, pool cleanliness was lacking (bandage in water for days, bird droppings and some other tissue or something floating). We found that pool chairs were reserved very early in the morning by strategically placed towels. It seemed spots were saved, not by quests themselves, rather the saving favoured those who tipped. Food was generally good, though some dishes were overly salty. The bacon seemed to have been boiled and pan-tossed; i recommend asking to have it grilled some more. This will help improve it but it was still pretty tasteless. There were some really good dishes. I recommend avoiding adding additional salt. Overall I enjoyed my stay. Perfect location on the beach. The people are friendly, happy and work hard. Beautiful country.

amazing adventure
I enjoyed my stay and all the staff there. Great entertainment, activities and the pool was awesome. My only complaint is the room service could have been better but really nothing too major to complain about (some days we didnt get fresh towels/face clothes and the fridge wasnt always restocked). The train to get around the resort was slow (when waiting for specific one) but I enjoyed myself thoroughly and would return in a heart beat.,

Would not return.
This was a short stay of 2 nights before boarding a cruise and we had chosen this hotel based on recommendation. Having been to other hotels in the same resort, unfortunately this hotel really didn't meet expectations. The good points were the restaurant had a good selection of food which was well cooked and tasty. The gardens were well maintained and pleasant. The bad points were the rooms were very dated and dark. Some of the lights were not working and one bedside light was hanging off the wall. The room we were given was on the first floor with no lifts. On our 7am departure we called room service and reception for assistance with our luggage but noone answered. The swimming pool area was nice but on both mornings we visited the towel huts were either closed or there were no towels until 4pm. We were eventually given some after complaining at reception. A member of the pool bar service staff was then very angry and rude to us suggesting we had used someone else's sunbed. Although there were no towels on the bed he said the other guest had left an unopened packet of cigarettes on the bed assuming everyone would know the bed was taken. The cigarettes had been removed and put behind the bar. All of this caused unnecessary upset to our stay and caused a bad feeling about the whole stay. Having previously been to Punta Cana there are far better hotels than this.
