Dec 28, 2025Five Star - more like Four on a good day
We are seasoned travellers who stay at 5 Star resorts. Our experience, although on the whole good was far from perfect and certainly not at the levels of a five star resort or those claiming to be Vails premier hotel. From debiting several thousand dollars from my credit card (on top of the initial check in deductions) with no authority nor reason, and taking ten days to resolve, to poor / slow restaurant service, housekeeping frequently did not speak or have a grasp of good English which made giving or leaving instructions difficult. We had a lovely generous size room, bathroom well appointed but a little small. Our room was overlooking the front of the hotel and courtyard, which was pretty with the Christmas tree and lights but this unfortunately meant we also had several days of early morning cherry picker bleeping as maintenance works were conducted. The courtesy buses were excellent, easy to track and jump onto, via their Q reader and in convenient drop off / pick up locations. The valet / bus service team were exceptional. Be warned to check if the Ski in / Ski Out chair 20 is working before going (we did not get any benefit from this as it was not operational during our two week stay due to snow conditions) as this means you have to shuttle to Lionshead or Vail to get to the slopes. In house ski and rental team are good although better value prices are available in the two village locations ( it used by us as we have our own equipment). If you can’t use the bus for any reason, Ubers from the hotel to Lionshead and Vail village (1.8 miles and 2.2 miles respectively) were expensive for the distance ($20 - $25). The creek side walk to Lionshead is pretty and a nice alternative.

Dec 28, 2025No lift access, suspended keys, outdoor pool
Pros: Enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub. Received two welcome glasses of sparking wine. Cons: Due to check-in process mistake of staffs, the keys were suspended even though I made sure three times by concierge, phone, and someone who came to the room in person. The lift doesn’t work, while I chose here for the access. Foods need to be improved, as it cannot be considered as Grand Hyatt.

This was a waste of money. The ski slope is closed (which is not their fault) but before booking, we called to ask if there was any possibility the ski slope would be closed and we were told no because they were 'making snow'. Booked a suite which is super noisy. No ski lessons available. We tried to book Topgolf. The manager told us there was plenty of room tomorrow. The app shows no availability until January 4. He took our number and said he'd give us a call. No call. A total bust (and a very expensive one at that).

Dec 18, 2025Well worth it! Just do it!
Excellent service experience every step of the way from check in to dining to help with the hot tub and fire pit to valet parking. The pool would not be big enough in the summertime and the hot tub would have been too small in the winter except we found a second one that was much larger and not being used! Spa is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so plan ahead if you want to use it. Shuttle service to all the villages was wonderful. We highly recommend this resort for either personal vacations, family get-togethers, or business purposes! Even when there is no snow a week before Christmas! Only 17% of runs were open in Vail but we still were able to have a great get-away!

Great Job Staff
My stay at the Grand Hyatt Vail started off a little bumpy, however the management team made it right. The resort is absolutely beautiful, there are plenty of activities for all age groups, the meals that we had at the Gessner were exceptional and because of the friendliness of the staff, we had a fantastic stay. My interactions with Adam, Ashley, and Rod/Rio from Salt Lake City made up the issues we had at the beginning of our stay. What made it even better is I never mentioned to any of them that I was a travel agent, and their responsiveness to my concerns is what was the determining factor and a repeat visit and recommendation to my clients. Great Job!!!
