    ★★★★★ 5/5 Will be back.

Just got back from a stay at Devossion by Live Aqua Playa del Carmen, and the entire experience felt easy, relaxed, and genuinely well thought out. The resort itself is beautiful, but what really stands out uis how smoothly everything runs and how attentive and thoughtful everyone was throughout the stay. Location, Design, and Overall Feel: The location honestly could not be better. The hotel is literally steps from 5Th Avenue. Walk out from the resort and immediately you are in the middle of the action… restaurants, music, lively crowds, and constant energy. Walking up and down Fifth Avenue always felt safe and enjoyable, day or night, just soaking in the vibe. When it was time to relax or head to the beach, walking straight back into the hotel brought instant calm. The hotel has managed to keep the city action out, while being in the middle of it. It’s hard to imagine a better location than this. The hotel’s open design is actually quite brilliant. The way the property is laid out, and architected allows the ocean breeze to flow freely through the entire resort. This makes a massive difference in the heat. No matter where you are, There’s never that feeling of standing in warm, stagnant air. The breeze keeps everything feeling fresh and comfortable throughout the day. It’s one of those design choices that you don’t appreciate until you experience it for yourself. Never Felt Crowded One of the most surprising things was how uncrowded the resort felt at all times. There was always somewhere to sit, always beach loungers available with umbrellas, and never any sense of competition for space. Restaurants were all first come, first serve, with no reservations required. Meals happened whenever you got hungry, with no planning, no lines and NO waiting! I legit thought the resort was maybe running at 30% capacity. Finding out later that it was actually at 100% occupancy was shocking. Its actually still hard to believe, but it says a lot about how thoughtful the space is designed and managed. Elixir Suite The Elixir Suite was excellent. The bathroom was very massive , the seating area was comfortable and usable, and the bedroom felt nicely separated so the layout actually worked. Ocean-facing suites meant waking up to the sunrise every morning, which never got old. There was a small bathtub leak one day that was mentioned casually before heading out for lunch. Our butler Louis and Mauricio, the Head Butler, took care of it immediately, and it was fully resolved by the time lunch was done. No disruption, no follow-up needed… just taken care of, with a note and a complimentary bottle of wine for the minor inconvenience (again, not expected but very appreciated). Butler Team and WhatsApp Support The butler team made a huge difference throughout the stay. Luis Morales served as personal Butler, with Mauricio as Head Butler, alongside Martín and Guillermo. A WhatsApp group was set up early on, and I was checked in on every morning, again in the middle of the day, and again in the evening to make sure everything was to my satisfaction or to see if anything was needed. This wasn’t automated or generic. It felt personal and consistent, and it made the entire stay feel supported without ever being intrusive. Another detail that really stood out… anytime I was carrying dirty towels or dishes were back to a station, someone immediately noticed, walked over to me, and took them away. This happened multiple times and is something I was not used to. Small detail, big impression. Food and Dining… Always Fresh The food across the resort was consistently fresh and well prepared. Nothing felt pre-made or sitting around. At The Grill, food was cooked fresh right in front of guests, seafood was always fresh, and there was frequently a catch-of-the-day option. The fish was excellent every time. There were plenty of dining options, and the quality stayed high throughout. La Cocina… Poolside Restaurant La Cocina, the poolside restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, became a regular stop. Ruben, the manager, was always present and genuinely interested in feedback. The servers Lourdes, Tessa, Danura, and Geovany (sp?) were always warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. Service here felt relaxed and natural, never scripted. The Japanese restaurant, was a real highlight. The sushi offerings, including the fire roll, poke bowl, and other dishes, were on par with a high-end Japanese restaurant back home. This was not typical resort sushi. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Again the service was quick, thoughtful and always felt personal. The Grill Dining at The Grill was consistently strong. Augusto provided attentive and friendly service. Watching food being prepared fresh made a noticeable difference, and the quality showed. Italian Restaurant The Italian restaurant delivered consistently good food. One standout detail was that the pizza was made right there in front of you, fresh and hot. Santos and Ignacio were always smiling, friendly, and doing everything to make you happy. Honestly, it made the restaurant feel comfortable rather than formal. Behind the bar, Jose and team were always happy to make any cocktail you asked for. Beach and Pool Experience The beach was always clean and easy to walk on, with no rocks and clear water that was perfect for standing or floating… there was no sargassum at all, though conditions may vary by season. The pool area was just as enjoyable. America, brought great energy and clearly cared about the experience. Hector, was consistently professional and helpful. And Arturo, Francisco, Lalo, and Julio kept everything running smoothly. Additional thanks go to Manny, the bellman, along with Rafael and Ivan, who were consistently kind and helpful. Final Thoughts Nothing about Devossion felt flashy or overdone. Everything felt thoughtful, calm, and genuinely well run. The combination of location, open design, fresh food, beach quality, and exceptional staff made this a truly memorable stay. Will absolutely return and recommend this resort without hesitation.

It’s the people who made it for me, well done!

It’s the staff that make any business, here they are spectacular. Overall the hotel is good, however I wouldn’t rate it as 5* great. The rooms are super comfortable and having been recently refurbished, the beds are fabulous and comfortable. The food is ok, some high spots but overall middle of the road, can definitely do better. Messages in the hotel are confusing, is a restaurant open, is it closed? It’s guesswork and whilst a location might not actually be closed, it may have moved elsewhere in the hotel. Entertainment again is not well communicated and it’s a case of ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get’. But again, it’s the staff that made it for me. In particular the pool team and waiters. They went 110% beyond to make my stay perfect. Well done!

Nice but a little frayed round the edges

The hotel is right in the middle of town. Beach pretty and well kept. Pool areas good but subbed need cushions it’s 5 star after all! Personally the food was not to my taste apart from breakfast which was excellent. Choice of restaurants not as many as advertised so a little confusing. No really comfy seating areas to escape the sun and read lobby is pretty basic. Staff are amazing and work hard. The hotel was originally a Hyatt but now rebranded. It’s looking a little tired in places. Rooms are clean but getting dated. Balconies small. Not bad all in all but I probably wouldn’t return. This is my 7th visit to Mexico and there are lots of more luxurious hotels with better restaurants out there

    Amazing all inclusive resort!! 10/10

This place is amazing! The hotel itself is beautiful. Rooms are gorgeous and clean. The housekeep staff does an amazing job. They clean in the morning and then they prepare your room at night as well. The technology is new. The food and drinks are amazing! There’s only a few restaurants to choose from, but we never felt limited. It’s super close to 5th avenue downtown playa del Carmen, which is safe and you can go there for more food. With it being a newer hotel, there weren’t a lot of events happening but we could see they were just getting their groove with things. They were accommodating if we requested to do something and I loved the event staff! Andres, Melanie and Adrian were so fun and bubbly and welcoming. The staff overall were incredible- so welcoming and courteous and we felt well taken care off! Huge shoutout to Eduardo, Notorio, Daniel, Danura, Luis, Pepe, and probably so many other staff that we can’t remember their names. Even the lifeguards took care of us and were kind. The concierge also booked me in for a scuba dive and their recommendation was great and at a top notch place. I think a couple other recommendations would have been nice like Cozumel, but I was still happy with it! The beach and pools were clean and beautiful. It’s an amazing view and it’s well taken care of. The bathrooms are clean and new and cleaned often. There’s Starbucks included in the resort too. We felt such first class there while we were there. I can’t rave enough about this place. I would love to come back and would highly recommend !

    Just OK

This hotel is just ok. It lacked entertainment at the pool (like had no music etc). The restaurants are all outside for the most part….sushi was the best one they had. Steakhouse was not good. They need more of a selection of food to eat after dinner….no open buffets or snacks. The beach is very small and public. The service at the pool was good. The rooms were nice. It was a very very low key resort with not much to do. We will try another place next time.
