Very beautiful experience
It's a beautiful place, my daughter and I had a great time. Jesus always helped us with restaurant reservations. My entire stay at this hotel has been wonderful, thanks to the staff. The restaurant staff was very nice, especially the host, Jesús. He was very attentive and very friendly.

These bad rooms! What a pity compared with the rest of the resort.
We arrived with Sunwing on a Monday. The first impressions were good. The lobby, gardens and the staff were satisfying. BUT as soon as we arrived at the room it was a HUGE desappointment. The quality of the room was poor, and it was clear that several rushed renovations had been done over time. These details were hard to miss and certainly not up to the standard one would expect from a 5-star resort. The biggest problem was the mold on the furnitures and the strong smell of humidity, There were paint stains throughout the room, and it appeared that black mold spots had simply been covered with white paint rather than properly treated. This gives the impression of poor maintenance and a lack of care, especially in a place that claims to offer a premium experience. Staying with a baby we couldn’t imagine sleeping there and exposing us to unhealthy conditions. After two hours of waiting we visited other rooms, a bit better but still not perfect. The smell was still strong and all our clothes smelled bad after 7 nights. The sheets of the beds were humid and towels never get dry. Talking with other Sunwing guests it seems they had the same issues. Is the resort keeping damaged rooms for all inclusive travellers? We were expecting a much more refined and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, that was not the case, we would consider coming back but only if we are assured of improvements and for a safe healthy stay… A few staff members made our stay nicer and happier: Yulia (Bars) Ramona and Robert in the buffet area were particularly friendly.

Beautiful beach, Horrible customer service
Our family was really looking forward to our vacation to the Dominican Republic. It was our first time to the country and to this resort. We did what we thought was our due diligence and read through reviews and social media to make sure we were choosing the best location for our family composed of young children and twenty somethings. We stayed in the family club with our little ones and booked the bungalow for our older kids. The resort itself is really beautiful and with the right leadership has so much potential. The room in the family club was perfect for the 5 of us. The only issues with the room were ants that needed to be treated, hot water that went out on one night, a sink with little to no water pressure, and a lack of wash cloths. We do understand that wash cloths are not a norm everywhere, but it became such a hassle when we would ask for them and almost always never received them or enough. There were two in the room upon arrival and then none given or replaced unless we asked multiple times for the rest of our stay, so be prepared to bring your own if that’s important to you. The customer service was the absolute worst part of our stay. I have never felt more unwelcome in my life. Especially not in a facility I’m paying quite a bit of money for. The main check-in was subpar, nothing to write home about. Like another reviewer mentioned the agents just circle places on a map and send you on your way. The arrival experience in the family club check-in was a bit more friendly. We visited multiple food outlets throughout the property and the majority of the associates made it feel as if guests were being a burden when asking for something, especially in the buffet. I’m not just talking about my family, but I witnessed multiple rude interactions with buffet station attendants and guests. We basically hesitated every time we would ask for an item or drink or anything because it was met with either someone ignoring you, making you wait unnecessarily, or just being downright rude. One of the most rude staff members throughout my whole stay was the lady preparing the crepes and ice cream in the main buffet. She never had a smile on her face. Never was polite with guests and always made you feel like you were bothering her. She along with a few other buffet attendants like the guy making pasta in the evenings, really seemed like they were not happy to be there. One really bad interaction with the crepe lady was the last straw for me. We tried to read her name, but couldn’t. I think it may start with a Y. I asked for a crepe towards the end of my stay because I hadn’t had one the whole time and wanted to try it. I stood there and waited patiently for her to assist me. She just kept doing whatever she was doing behind the counter and ignored me. I was the only one waiting and she saw me. Another lady who worked there walked up beside her and greeted me. She was friendly. Her name was Solciree. I asked her about the crepe since the other lady refused to help me, but it wasn’t her station so she let me know nicely that the other lady would have to help me. She talked to the main crepe lady in Spanish to try to get her to assist. Solciree kept making eye contact with me smiling and it was clear she was uncomfortable with how the other lady was treating me. The other lady slowly started making my crepe and Solciree talked to her in Spanish and told her I was waiting for a while and the main lady told her back in Spanish that I could keep waiting like she didn’t care. She had absolutely no idea that I could understand her. It was so horrible to assume that I didn’t understand and to be rude and show what I knew all along, that she didn’t want to assist me and she didn’t want to be there. Obviously a guest facing position is not the best for her and she is just not happy there. It’s sad that her managers either disregard her attitude (and others) or just are not in tune enough with their operation to see what is really going on. I do feel a great deal of compassion for the team members who all worked both the morning shifts at breakfast and at dinner. So I’m sure it’s really all day because they are preparing for the next meal period in between. I was there for 5 nights and saw the same faces in the buffet daily during both shifts and heard that they work 12 days straight before they get a day off. Perhaps this is why so many of them were so nasty and unwilling to assist guests. I’ve been on cruises where team members work just as long and never have felt the way the staff at this resort made me feel. I’ve also managed hotels myself and never would allow my team members to treat guests the way my family and I were treated. This hotel is not the place you go to if you are consistently looking for friendly faces or friendly service. I was so uncomfortable with asking for anything, even though it was all included and paid for and even though my husband tipped all the time. I couldn’t wait to return home and sadly after this experience I have no desire to return. This is not a friendly island if that’s something that you’re used to. Do not expect that. Do not expect to see the same smiling faces that are shown on their Instagram. You may see the same people but the pleasant disposition is absent. These team members are burned out and mentally checked out. In addition the food in the buffet areas is lacking to say the least. Lots of repetition and low quality food. The a la carte restaurants were a bit better and almost a necessity if you want somewhat decent food. I literally was grateful when I left just to be able to have some normal quality food at the airport. Anything was better than what was served. The same lack of care in the customer service was the same lack of care in the food quality. Despite the horrible service, the beach was beautiful. It is full of solicitors as others mentioned, but so is the hotel, as it’s full of timeshare people hassling you. At least I have the memories of the beautiful beach to be grateful to have experienced and my kids enjoyed the kids splash areas. A few people were exceptional during our stay and I hope they find a place to work that can better support their skill set and innate passion to serve. Yoander and Ana Iris in the buffet were the stars of the whole buffet. They are the only ones who truly made you feel welcome there. Solciree for noticing what I was experiencing and trying to ease the situation. Tito (bellman) was of great assistance upon departure. Very friendly. A young guy who hosted karaoke was great with my kids in karaoke and also in a soccer game he hosted in the vacation club. He really cared. And also two ladies who led the kids in a Just Dance event. I hope others have a more pleasant experience than we did and can at least enjoy that beautiful beach.
