Lovely Resort Experience in Punta cana
We stayed at this resort for 4 days. It was great value for the price. We booked platinum princess for our stay. From service to food to gardens and relaxing vibes, everything was simply awesome! We enjoyed food at Focaccia and Samsara Restaurants and Focaccia was fantastic while Samsara was mediocre. The buffet was all good. There wasn't too many dishes but there was quality. On the first night, we enjoyed ocean front international buffet with live music which is arranged once a week specifically for the platinum guests. The grounds are spectacular with Peacocks, Huron, ducks and storks roaming around creating such a relaxing atmosphere. The ocean is a long stretch. Although a truck was seen cleaning the seaweed but it keeps coming back on the shores even during the winter season but it was manageable. I am sure the situation would be worse during the summer months. The resort comes to life at dusk with lights on the trees and live music. They have an ice cream shop, 11 restaurants, a Cafe and food trucks. We would love to return to this place gor sure!

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Multiple Issues Poorly Handled
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. I booked this trip through Sunwing, and unfortunately, this has been the most stressful and poorly handled vacation my family has ever experienced. From the moment we arrived at Grand Bavaro Princess, the issues started piling up. Our room had cleanliness problems like stained sheets, maintenance issues, and mosquitos inside the room, which made it uncomfortable and unhealthy for my family. Our luggage was also misplaced, adding even more frustration during our first day, we were also told at the kids playground that bar is not available for us to use. This was not platinum area. We filed report on the first day and it’s been 72 hours and we still haven’t heard back. Things quickly became worse when we found a lizard inside our room, which caused severe distress for my mother-in-law, who has a serious phobia of reptiles. This was reported immediately, yet the hotel staff took little initiative and we spent two separate nights waiting at Guest Services asking (repeatedly) for help. Only after constant pressure did they finally move us to another room, and even then, it was the same room category despite everything we had gone through. To make matters worse, when we asked about switching to a room that actually met our needs, we were told it would cost $45 per person per night. At another resort we stayed at recently Finest (booked through Expedia) a small mistake in our reservation was corrected immediately, and they upgraded us on their own without us even asking. That experience showed real hospitality. Here, it felt like the resort was more focused on charging extra rather than taking responsibility. I contacted Sunwing for help, believing they would advocate for us, but the support was extremely limited but on this site when others complain they ask us to direct any issues to them, what’s the point? Sunwing ultimately stated that the hotel was responsible for everything and closed our case, even though many issues were still unresolved. Great customer service Sunwing! This entire situation was emotionally exhausting and overshadowed what should have been a relaxing family vacation. My wife felt her concerns were brushed off, our nights were disrupted, and our trip was impacted from the start. My in-laws, who have visited this resort multiple times before, were shocked at how far the standards have declined. After this experience, none of us plan to return to this resort, and I will not be booking with Sunwing again. I understand that things can go wrong during a trip—but what truly matters is how those issues are handled. Unfortunately, both the resort and Sunwing fell far short of even basic expectations but nice way to get your customers ever using your services again.

Great family stay at Grand Bavaro Princess
We had a great family stay here. After changing resorts at the last minute to this one and reading reviews we are happy we did. Service: was excellent, Freddy hotel manager checked in on us and made sure we were taken care of. **on a note we left and were half way to the airport, my husband discovered his cell phone slipped out his pocket at the lobby. We called the hotel and they immediately had a taxi bring it to us at the airport*** Resort: resort is beautiful and grounds are manicured. There are peacocks everywhere. You need to take a trolly around to the stops. They can become quite busy. Beach is beautiful. There are lots of vendors though. We used the main pool and quiet pool. Quiet pool was nice and not busy Rooms: very nice and spacious. Everything worked well. Hot showers and large tub. Brushed our teeth with water from bottles and everyone remained healthy Food: We stuck to the breakfast buffet at the beach as it was quieter and less busy than the main one. The food trucks had great food, my son ejoyed the mozzarella sticks. We particularly enjoyed the catered one off to the side..one day they served paella, beef fajitas with nachos and my favorite BBQ chicken and potatoes with garlic sauce. We tried 4 reservation restaurants and by far the best one was Il Tartufo Italian...excellent and tasty. Our second one was Wasabi sushi was very good. The drinks of course we very good and didnt wait long to get them.

Worst trip
We stayed at the Grand Bávaro Princess in December and unfortunately experienced a very serious health situation that completely ruined our vacation. Within days of arrival, multiple members of our party became violently ill with severe gastrointestinal symptoms. I was sick enough to require hospitalization and spent five days bedridden. This was not a mild inconvenience — it was a medical emergency that ended our trip. Sanitary conditions were concerning throughout the resort, particularly around food service areas. Despite how serious the situation was, there was no meaningful response or compensation from the resort This review is not written lightly. I have travelled extensively and understand that illness can happen, but the number of people affected, the severity of symptoms, and the lack of action from the resort raise serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. I would strongly caution travelers, especially families or anyone with health vulnerabilities, to consider these risks before booking.

Great experience
I am currently vacationing at this resort and I fel I have to write a positive review for Schneider , the receptionist who assisted us with the check-in process plus other several things. I traveled with my family and my mother suffers from asthma. Schneider assisted us with choosing the room with no mold smell as this could trigger my mom asthma attacks. He took the time to listen to our concerns and provided us with best solutions to our problems. His problem solving , attention to details and compassion did not go unnoticed ! :)
