    Spectacular Spring break

We had a blast! We chose a swim up patio suite- it felt like our private pool. I will say it’s true that there is limited beach chairs and beds; so very thankful we did book the swim up patio pool which provided sun loungers and floats. We never had to deal with not finding a place to relax for the day. The resort was very, very clean. The beach was clean. The fridge was stocked daily with bevs and snacks. We chose to eat at the restaurant, Albatross, for lunch. I loved the fresh ceviche, fish tacos and the hubs had a great steak. We ate the oven pizza too. The menu doesn’t change at Albatross. I can find something off the buffet, too. The drinks hit! Just ask for the spirits on the shelf. My fave was the passion fruit colada. I brought my own cup- so no problem asking for 2-3 drinks each time. I always tip. The breakfast buffet did have chicken and vegetables from the night before, but this was actually helpful for me trying to get 40grams of protein in everyday. So I didn’t mind. I just had a mindset of my body needs the protein. Minimal typical wait for lady to make fresh omelets too. We enjoyed the free shows and dinner (tacos)- we watched the Mariachi, folklorico and Mayan show. It is advertised in the lobby as you check in- free- look at the wall to see the activities. The time share people took a polite no - never bothered us. I just told them I had no money - 2 kids in college. Enough said. This was a less expensive resort that I am accustomed too- but really fit our needs- clean, fruit drinks and Mexican beer flowing, and basking in sun.

    Worth considering

Firstly take the recent negitive reviews lightly, been here nearly 10 days now and it rightly deserves its 4 star rating. Our first budget room was not great so we upgaded very quickly to a top floor "superior" room overlooking the beach, omg the views are stunning, and to open eyes in the morning to the mindblowing sunrise a must (its cheaper to upgrade when here than to do before). Avoid if possible the rooms facing the road side, as very noisy. The hotel is spotless, staff appear to be constantly cleaning. Food is ok in the main buffet, but reccomend the smaller al le carte one on the beach, not as much choice, but nicer, can be a bit of a wait though, suggest breakfast at 7am and diner at 6pm as we was able to get straight in at these times. Alcohol is extensive and not watered down local stuff, all named brands which is welcoming, Bar staff are amazing, especially Antonio, cleaners/maintenance guys are very cheery and say hello. RECEPTION STAFF, not so great i am afraid, majority appear miserable and unbelievably struggle with understanding engish ! Come on flamingo, these staff are front line and should be fluent in English, the bar staff speak and understand better! Holiday makers are mix of brits, canadian, american, mexican. 2 pools are ok and clean, although the main central one plays a repetitive elevator style sound track, also same in main bar, which made us avoid/spend less time there. Note As amazing as the colour of the sea and beach is, and was on day one of our arrival, we found sea really rough and un-swimable, the beach for last 8 days spoilt by washed up seaweed that is strangely ignored to rot in the sun, dispite the tractors that appear to comb the sand, they avoid clearance. Other niggles, sometimes hot water is ethier cold, or non exsistant/stops mid shower(others had same issue) wifi patchy. In all, good holiday, good hotel.

    Love the beach!

Great smaller option. 2 pools and wonderful beach. Food was decent and enough options. The special events were wonderful...Mayan show and mexican Fiesta. Global guests. Only real issue was poor water pressure at times.

    Quiet resort with pristine beach

I traveled to Cancun with my aunt. My first impression of the hotel was ok. I would rate it a 3.5 star. The positive is the check in staff was prompt and patient as we asked to upgrade, and then asked to upgrade again. We had wanted an ocean view with a balcony. We paid for an upgrade to the pool terrace walkout which was amazing. The rooms were spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The restaurants - the buffet was smaller but had excellent soup. Selection was repetitive with not a lot of authentic Mexican fare. It was good, however it would have been nice to see a bit more authentic flare or theme nights. Breakfast was by far the best. There were no gluten free bread or pasta items, however being gluten sensitive I was able to find a lot of options to eat. The pizza restaurant was really popular. I did not try the snack bar, however it did seem popular as well. The restaurant on the beach I attended breakfast, however did not attend any dinners. Good selection of liqueur/beer and spirits. As other reviews state, there is lack of chairs on the beach but lots of palapas. The sand is pristine so I used my towel to sit on. The main pool had few chairs as well. Not sure the reason behind no chairs. I did notice other resorts along the same beach lacked chairs as well. The pools are clean and bright and open late. The entire resort grounds are kept clean and fresh. There is very little nightly entertainment. It would be nice to see a bit more entertainment. The terrace area is open air, so it is weather permitting if entertainment is brought in. The lobby area and lobby bar are scented with an extremely strong fragrance. Being scent sensitive I struggled with this. It was strongest in the morning. The main buffet and pool area had loud elevator music that was repetitive and played the same set daily. I did approach the host at the buffet and he acknowledged it, but said there is nothing they can do about it. I would suggest turning the volume down. It was unpleasant if you were sat near a speaker when trying to enjoy dinner and trying to have conversation. The hotel itself is in good walking distance from a lot of amenities and the true highlight is the beach. It is pristine.

    A surprisingly good experience.

We were pleasantly surprised with our 10 day stay at Flamingo Cancun. I had read the reviews , so was skeptical. . It was a really nice resort. The shuttle from the airport was quick, about 20 minutes. Check in was easy and quick and everyone was friendly and polite. Understanding English was not a problem. We had a superior ocean front room that had a great ocean view. We were given two room keys not one,as I had read. We also had decent wifi in our room especially if we were out on the balcony. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable. The food at the buffet was very good. No complaints. We tipped the servers and had excellent service during our lunch and supper. We also had the pizza at the wood fired pizza area. Delicious. The snack bar was good , serving hamburgers, hot dogs ,fries and nachos. The Albatross a la carte restaurant was very good. We did not need reservations and could go unlimited amount of times. First come, first served. It serves buffet style breakfast, not as good as the buffet in the main restaurant breakfast, and menu meals for lunch and supper. We never had to wait very long at either the main buffet or the Albatross. There seemed to be enough tables and chairs. We did wait for a seat at the pizza area . The beach was beautiful and clean. The water was warm and crystal clear, turquoise colored. It was windy when we were there so a lot of days with red flags. There are not nearly enough each chairs. There are palapa to use too but again, they get taken up quickly. The three bars served top shelf alcohol. The bar tenders were all very good and friendly. The lineup moved quickly and the drinks were good. There are shops close by you can walk to for souvenirs. There is also a big flea market set up just over a 2 km walk once you turn right after leaving the resort. Easy to bargain for good prices. There is a big shopping mall if you turn left when you leave the resort. A short walk. Mostly Designer stuff. There is also nice big Ferris wheel at the shopping Mall that gives you excellent views of the area. Reasonably priced. On the other side of the resort is a lagoon that has crocodiles. A short walk. We finally saw a couple on our last day there. There is very little to no evening entertainment, which is a negative. That and along with the very few beach chairs. Otherwise, this is a very good resort if you want a small and quiet place to vacation.
