We paid for the updated rooms but they were certainly not that. Our expectations were for a very nice room but instead paint was peeling, the sink faucet didnt work and the beds were lumpy and the pillows were the same. The AC also emitted an odd smell and the TV was extremely blurry. The woman who checked us in was also quite rude. Just not quite what we were expecting for an MGM hotel

Grim check in procedure
I have stayed at the Excalibur many times since it opened so I know what to expect. This stay will be the last they have introduced a crazy self check in system that requires the use of a smart phone. You have to juggle with id, passport credit card and your phone. It also means you cannot request your favorite floor etc. I got a floor that seemed to be in the basement. I could put up with the Excalibur's short comings but this change is the last straw.

Clean rooms friendly staff. I paid more on resort fees than my room. Parking is expensive should be included with the resort fees.

The location is great. All tours we went on pick us up at the hotel. We did not have to go any where else. We had room cleaning every day, that was very nice. Thank goodness for the Starbucks in the lobby. I have to agree the staff is not the friendliest. They were not rude but not friendly either. Like most Vegas hotels it is huge so we had to ask questions frequently as I am sure many others do. I just felt like the staff was so over needy people.
