Don’t stay here. My husband and I who are non smokers were falsely charged with a smoking violation during our stay. We spoke with the Manager Sam Cuevas who dismissed us and basically told us the system has been tested. We explained that it is all over the Internet and he still did not want to listen. He basically was calling me a liar. I saw someone posted today that the same thing happened to them as well. With so many people complaining you would think that they would reverse the charge. I strongly encourage those who have had this violation against him to write the following folks as I will be: Hilton Highgate- company that oversees this property and Sam Cuevas boss Puerto Rico’s Tourism Company Jose Carlos Aponte Dalmau-mayor of Carolina Puerto Rico Jennifer Gonzales- Colon- Governor of Puerto Rico

Smoking Scam with Embassy Suites Puerto Rico
do not stay there or at least verify your statement for smoking charge. When I checked out of the hotel I was charged a $555 smoking fee. I was not informed as I told them to email the receipt - they never did. I only found out about it on my CC statement. I called the hotel and they said - sorry our sensor said you smoked and we cannot help you. I would never stay there again as I believe it is a complete scam.

Beware of fraudulent charges!!!
I am writing this review to warn other guests and to bring serious attention from corporate leadership. During my stay at Embassy Suites by Hilton San Juan Hotel & Casino, I was falsely accused of smoking or vaping in my room—something I have never done in my life. I do not smoke, vape, or use e-cigarettes, yet I was charged over $500 for a “smoke detector fee” with absolutely no evidence and no due process. The alleged incident occurred while I was in my room getting ready for dinner, and no one notified us at the time. We were only informed the following morning, after the charge had already been applied. I immediately asked the front desk to inspect the room themselves and investigate, but the manager on duty was dismissive and uninterested in resolving the issue. The charge was reportedly initiated by Manager Aisha Torres, yet we were never notified when the so-called incident occurred. When I escalated the matter further to the Director of Operations, Alejandro Rios Cardona, his response was equally dismissive. He refused to escalate the issue, claiming that no one above him had authority—a statement that is both alarming and unprofessional in a major Hilton-branded property. Despite my repeated attempts to explain that their detection system may be flawed, management insisted their system “never fails.” However, a simple online search reveals multiple guest reports of similar questionable smoking charges at this same hotel, which raises serious concerns about the integrity and oversight of this process. This was not only a financial violation, but also an accusatory and humiliating experience, handled by staff who showed no interest in listening, investigating, or helping. The lack of transparency, accountability, and basic customer service is shocking. Until this hotel addresses its management practices and fraudulent-feeling fee enforcement, I strongly caution future guests. No one should have to fear being falsely accused and charged hundreds of dollars without evidence or immediate notification. Hilton corporate should take this matter seriously.

Do not stay here
DO NOT STAY HERE. They fraudulently charged a smoking fee while we were out of the room for the evening and we do not smoke or vape. They refuse to take a $555 charge off the room. I asked if they fixed this issue before I checked in and was told that the issue was resovled. Manager said he can not do anything about it and to call my credit card

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! they will rip you off! They will put $500 smoking FEE EVEN IF YOU NEVER SMOKED IN YOUR LIFE.
I wish I read reviews on this hotel before I booked. They will double charge your room and put $500 smoking fee on your credit card even if you never smoked in your life. According to the previous review this has been an ongoing thing that this hotel puts false smoking fees charges on guests, PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE or you will end up writing the same review God Bless You!
