I got what I was expecting from a 3.5 star Embassy Suites outside SF. It was a cheaper alternative to staying in the city with the property being dated but staff friendly. The kids enjoyed the breakfast and evening snacks\drinks. A couple of things to be aware of are the $39 per night parking fee which is insane for the location and the onsite restaurant which is the only place in walking distance is extremely expensive. The kids enjoyed the pool for a bit but complained of it being overly chlorinated and burning their eyes which could have been a function of it being an inside pool. I didn't use the workout room but it looked like a sad small place in the same area as the pool. All that said I would likely stay here again if I had a family and was looking to save money.

No control over the temperature in your room, Traveler Beware!
We were dumped here by our airline after a late flight caused us to miss our connection. To say this hotel is in drastic need of an overhaul is an understatement. The problem started with the fact that you can’t call this hotel and speak to a human. I tried to get information about the airport shuttle, but no combination of phone tree options led to an actual human person. Upon checkin we were made to sign a “no party” agreement banning things such as coolers and birthday cakes. That should have been my first clue. Upon getting to the room, it was very dated, but seemed clean enough. Tried to use the bathtub, only to find no drain stop. When we enquired about getting one, we were told that maintenance had gone home, but they could bring us one the next day. What kind of hotel doesn’t have some kind of maintenance 24 hours?! Then we tried to set the temperature on the AC, with no response. After trying to text the front desk (their preferred point of contact) and being ignored for nearly an hour, I tried calling the front desk and finally got a hold of someone who told me that they are a “centrally controlled” hotel and we have no control over the temperature in our room. The setting for the entire hotel in Late May was “room temperature”. Well kids, “room temperature” is apparently the Embassy Suites definition for stuffy and hot. We tried opening the window, however this was an inelegant solution as there was no screen to keep out the bugs. Plus, with the hotel being adjacent to the final approach for the SFO runways, we had the delight of the noise from a large jet every few minutes. But the icing on the cake was when a group of partiers congregated outside the front of the hotel, smoking pot (cheap stuff too, by the stench of it), and screaming and yelling at 1:00am. We finally gave up and closed the window of our now skunk smelling room, and attempted to sleep in our own sweat. Definitely do not stay here!

Great Location and Nice Courtyard
In terms of service/food, it was just average, nothing great, nothing bad about. This hotel is on a trail near the ocean, which is great. It gives the guests something to do. Also the court yard inside this hotel was nice. It reminded me of the courtyards of the old mansions in Morocco. The toilet wasn't working in our room and they fixed it right away (we didn't break it hehe).

Good and Bad
Start with the good location is very nice. Junior the manager went over and above to resolve a billing issue. Julie the night auditor was a pleasure to work with as well. Now the BAD this hotel I was told by Nicholas at the front desk was on an old a/c-heating system your room temperature can not be controlled from the room, you can only control the fan speed and on/off. I woke up one night freezing and the next sweating. Now the WORST! I arrived at the hotel and walked up to the front desk and before I could state my name or that I had a reservation I was told a in a very rude and unprofessional way that there were no rooms for ME. I was told that there MAYBE a room at 4 pm. Which I know is normal check in, but just the flat bad attitude and unwillingness to help! I spend upwards of 300 nights a year in hotels and this attitude was the absolute worst I have seen anywhere! Then the smoke alarm went off in my room and would not stop. I went to the front deck and yes it was the same person, I was told it was my fault for leaving the bathroom door open and letting steam out. I have never known steam to set off a smoke detector. Even if this is true I explained to her I took a shower 8 hours ago. She repeat that I should not have let the steam out of the bathroom. I then ask her to have someone come check it, she begrudgingly picked up the radio and called maintenance. This person had no name tag on so I ask her, she then looked shocked and stated her name to be HANNAH.

Beautiful hotel and location!
Great hotel!! Excellent service, beautiful location. Front desk staff was kind and helpful. Kids loved watching the planes take off from the balcony. Saw a beautiful wedding on site while we were there. Stayed for five nights while touring the San Francisco area. Made to order breakfast is always a plus!
