2nd time here not so good

After a 10 hour flight and a 90 minute transfer to the hotel me and my husband managed to get off the bus before a lot of others which meant we got through the reception check in pretty quickly Our room was pretty dated and we had a problem with the lights not working properly Also if you plugged anything in the bathroom the sockets sparked which was quite frightening we reported these problems To the reception but they never really got fixed The bed was comfortable so always had a good sleep. if you like a dark room at night take the balcony bulb out otherwise the light shines straight into your room. We overlooked the gardens and it was pretty quiet.sometimes the smell of sewage was very unpleasant when coming in and out of the room. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well looked after There’s a few animals to see and a Couple of cats who have there own little house One was called patch not sure what the ginger one was called We was on the seaside palms side of the hotel which was a lot quieter than the seaside suites Side and our beach was a lot nicer If you want a sun bed be prepared to get up around 6.30 to reserve them as there isn’t enough of them for everyone One thing we didn’t understand is if you reserve a beach bed you also get 2 sun lounges as well We think it should be one or the other as This would make more sense and this would mean more people would get somewhere comfortable to lay The beach got a lot of seaweed but the guys worked so hard every day clearing it up The sea was lovely and warm but had a lot of stones in it take your beach shoes. We was at this hotel around 20 years ago when all of the restaurants were all ala carte Which was amazing if you couldn’t get in at the time you wanted you was given a bleeper which went off when there was a vacant table This time you needed to book into the gourmet Restaurants which was really hard as they were always booked up We only managed to get into them without a reservation on Tuesday and Fridays when everyone was watching the shows Buffet restaurants The food was a bit hit and miss Sometimes really good and other times Awful my husband had chicken one night and it was raw luckily he noticed this before he ate any Gourmet pub the food was really nice we loved the chicken tikka masala The Italian restaurant was great such a beautiful place the food was amazing We managed to eat here 3 times Well worth a visit Breakfast was always nice plenty to choose from. Although we enjoyed our holiday unfortunately for us we won’t be returning it used to be a nice relaxing resort it’s doubled in size and it’s quite noisy now with lots of load people we noticed that certain nationalities get preferential treatments with bookings etc which we didn’t like. We would like to thank Lucira who used to book us into the buffet restaurant she was always very friendly and used to help my husband with his Spanish such a lovely genuine lady Also many thanks to our maid Who kept our room absolutely spotless And decorated it on my husband’s 70th birthday and Valentine’s Day We don’t know how to say her name but The room card is in our photos This is a genuine review based on our visit Hope it helps other people

Amazing staff, great rooms, will be back

The resort is great! There aren't as many restaurant/food options compared to most of the luxury resorts we have visited, but everything else makes up for it. If you like to have a chair by the pool and not worry about getting up early to reserve it, it's worth it to pay extra for the "ocean view pool swim out room". Palms side beach is the best and is close enough for a lovely walk in the morning. We were also able to find 4 chairs together later in the afternoon but at 9-10am there are a lot of towels and not a lot of people. After 10am they start enforcing the rules and removing the towels if nobody was there which I really appreciate! Lots of carts coming around regularly. The highlight of the resort is definitely the staff. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, wanting to know how your trip is going and if they can do anything to help you. Look for Luana and Benjamin on the entertainment team! They really go above and beyond every day to ensure EVERYONE is having a good time. I have been to resorts where the entertainment team will cater more to the younger crowd or big groups but Luana and Benjamin ensure that everyone of all ages is having fun, whether they are in a big group or a couple. They encourage inclusion and fun! Thank you Luana and Benjamin! And thank you to Sergio and Julio at the pool bar, and to all of the cart drivers. We looked forward to seeing you all every day! Please tip the employees, they work hard to make your stay amazing Tips- bring ketchup packets if you like ketchup, it can be hard to find. If you need an ATM and don't mind using pesos for shopping (easy in Playa Del Carmen) use the staff ATM at the gates past the pickleball courts

El Dorado Raised the bar again!

Another FIVE stars for El Dorado Seaside Suites/Palms! Just when you think we could never outdo the fun of our last trip here, the staff makes it even better! We stayed for two weeks in a Honeymoon Suite Level room at El Dorado Seaside Suites. The rooms spacious and clean. We enjoyed the swim out daily after a long walk and some pickle ball (they had converted the tennis courts since our last stay in April earlier in 2025). Bali beds were plentiful. As were beach towels – and no silly card system – made it stress free to enjoy the pools and beach. The beach here is unbelievable! It helped that we had spectacular weather during our time. The first few days were so calm and perfect for snorkeling. A ton of sea life if you go out past the break: huge, colorful tropical fish, stingrays, turtles, etc. The staff is what makes the resort special for us. All these individuals stood out to us: • Idania and Alva: Concierges who really get it and pay attention to the details and work very hard to honor any special request guests may have. I don’t know how she pulled it off, but Alva, was able to have the chef get us a special sandwich we had during another visit on the morning of our romantic breakfast. I also brought some special milestone birthday balloons for my friend who was also celebrating a birthday and Idania and Alva helped arrange for them to be in her room. • Veronica (the best bartender and server – we tried to make sure to see her every day for her – she brightened our day with her humor and smile and warmth). • And then there is Alejandro at the Gourmet Pub – what a jokester and the GOAT in the waiter category – we had so much fun laughing with him – we went to the Pub almost every night, even if it was to just have an appetizer, drinks or dessert only because we wanted to see him! • Maria (one of the activities staff) is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people there – we enjoyed having her teach us how to dance and she even played blackjack with us by the pool one day. Maria made my birthday extra special by goofing around with us by the pool for a bit – we taught her a couple of games we brought with us. • Emiliano at Klay Talay was the BEST – he made my birthday so special. His service is impeccable and his smile makes us feel like we are at home. * Jose and Rubicel for the romantic dinner on the beach are SO AWESOME! * Franco who made my birthday lunch at Sandwichere special! Other special staff were the golf cart drivers: Jose (the GOAT of all the golf cart drivers), Humberto, ____ Other servers/bartenders that treated us like rockstars were: Alejandro (Colibri pool), Cumi (Corterros pool), Alicia (___), Ana (Mezcalitos) and others I'm sure we are forgetting. We will do better to keep track next time. :) We will see you all again in April!

    Nothing negative,all positive!

Great accommodations, lovely bed and great view from building 7 third floor. The bathroom was huge and hot water a plenty. The best part is the hard working staff, always smiling and saying Hola. My stand out people were Sergio the best bartender at the pool bar, Benjamin and "sexy" Liuanna were an amazing entertainment team. They had us laughing and dancing all day long at the pool. Aqua Zumba everyday with great music! The food was delicious and hot with plenty of choices. We especially loved the Italian restaurant Mia Casa, try the lamb😋. We also enjoyed all the fresh seafood. The resort is spotless and the beauty of the grounds is amazing. This is not a cheap resort but well worth the money. Top shelf drinks, excellent service and lovely rooms. I miss my time there already. It is a big place with lots of stairs. My only complaint is the sun deck is very slippery and they have a few mats but need many more. Thank you to staff, job well done 👍

    No longer a peaceful resort

Avoid if you are British as all throughout our stay priority goes to American tourists . Speciality restaurants all booked throughout our stay as priority given to America guests.Outside our apartments constantly smelt of human waste through the day . This being our third stay we have noticed this resort is becoming a party place with foul language from other residents, such a shame such wonderful local people and history to explore.Staff pamper to the big tippers . Will be exploring other options for our future holidays in February.
