Overall I was satisfied! I would definitely go back!
Resort was super easy to get to from the airport. It is a little older, but the staff was great! The buffet was good, needed a little more variety. We loved having lunch and drinks brought out on the beach to us!! Sit down restaurant was great too. Room was always cleaned very well. Noise was not an issue at all. We were greeted at check-in with a drink, which was very nice. They also provided a photographer for a 20 minute photo shoot. Even though it rained on our scheduled day, the inside pictures we took were very nice. They even give you one free, and the fee for the other pics are extremely affordable. I would recommend upgrading the room from the section we were in (510). It seemed to be the older section of the resort. Not horrible, not dirty at all, but looking at the pictures from other rooms available, I would upgrade next time. The beds were pretty hard to me, but I do like a softer mattress. Pillows were comfortable. Bathroom was huge!! No iron or ironing board in the room. I’m sure we could have called for one, but just didn’t bother. We only booked one excursion and that was the 5 hour snorkeling trip. I would not recommend that trip. I did not realize when I booked that there would be as large of a group. The staff for the boat was great, but there were so many people trying to snorkel that you could not enjoy the experience. We prefer a smaller group to snorkel with. The food and atmosphere on the boat was fun but way too crowded for my taste. If you are looking for no stress and to take your time and enjoy snorkeling, try a smaller boat.

Don't do it.
This property has a great beach location but that is it. The experience from check in to checkout is not worth it. Do not expect any assistance from the front desk. In fact, no phones in rooms to call front desk. The property was probably nice in the early 2000's. There are no amenities to speak of. The beds are terrible, no refrigerator in 3 of the 4 rooms we had. Food is repetitive and not good. The swim up bar did not open the entire 8 days we stayed. The condition of the resort is not worth it. The putt-putt course is collapsing as well as the outdoor chess pieces.

Beyond amazing
We had a wonderful stay at El Cozumeleño, which is the place our family always chooses for our vacations. The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to help, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrive. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout our stay. The food offers a nice variety, with something enjoyable at every meal, and the drinks are always refreshing. The beach is absolutely amazing and perfect for snorkeling, with clear water and plenty of marine life just steps from the shore. Overall, El Cozumeleño provides a relaxing and memorable family vacation every time.

Disillusioned
I was so excited for this trip and I have visited other resorts in Mexico in the past. We were picked up by Amstar (5 stars for them). Greeted by bellhops and guided to a line for check-in. They provided a pineapple fruit drink as we waited in line for 30 mins to check-in. People around us looked miserable and I wondered why. We got our room information and were told where to go so we got our bags off we went. As we walked I noticed that the place seemed a bit… old. The elevator was good though and we got to our floor. The Accommodations: We made it to a hotel door that appeared to be barely sitting in its doorway. It was in dire need of silicone or cement around the frame. You could see through it. The door was in need of an extra lock but the door opened outward not into the room. The room was clean (5 stars for cleanliness and refreshing of towels). But the bed was rock hard and I kept waking up with bites on my body. The comforter was between two sheets and was a strange and thin wooly material. The A/C was loud and felt like it had 1 temperature so the room was cold. So we turned it off to hear the waves but instead we could just hear everyone else, and cars. Then it got too humid so we used the beach towels to keep warm as we slept. The shower luke warm water and crumbling ceiling and grout. The faucets… twist just right to turn off. The Food: We went to make reservations for dinner and were told there weren’t anymore and that we’d need to get in line in the morning before 8am each day to reserve. (We did - 5pm was dinner or 9pm) I wasn’t going to stand in line at 7am looking miserable like everyone else. The Food: birds were eating off the buffet food and if it was covered well then they ate off the utensils. The food was not good… Golden Coral would have been 100 times better. If you’re already at the hotel - go to the grill and get an Omelette or eggs. The syrup is just sitting out and open for flies and birds to fly over so… so we skipped that. For lunch - order from a waiter. For dinner - There is a young guy named Angel that was our savior he made delicious tacos. If you’re unlucky there is an older guy who will make you a disrespectful taco if that is what you’re into… what is that you may ask… it’s a taco with meat and a crumb of cheese. I avoided the grill when he was there. Be prepared to tip as well… you’ll get better service that way of course. The Drinks: we stuck with beer. The Entertainment: There is NOT entertainment or dancing. So bring a deck of cards or buy some there. The good - aside from angry old man bad taco maker. Hugo, Manuel and Roger were nice and attentive waiters. Roberto set us up with some fun excursions. I’d recommend these because it’s the only way you’ll eat decent food. This place needs a head chef, kitchen health etiquette, new beds, updated faucets, cleaning A/C vents, fixing the A/C, grout in showers, new shower doors, better room doors and fixing of the door frames, Entertainment and drink menu. Also - fresh squeezed juices, maybe a table side guacamole making.

Look elsewhere…I do not recommend this hotel
Where do I start….definitely good marketing as online the hotel looks pretty descent, but it is not as described and in much worse conditions than they portray. Maybe some purchased reviews or some AI generated videos/pictures? The basic accommodations of the hotel are subpar. It’s old and run down and needs repair. Our first room had ceiling tiles falling and rust on anything that was metal. Our porcelain sink was cracked and had some caulking on it to try and repair it, but it still leaked all over the floor. Beds were extremely hard and AC barely worked. Food quality was pretty low….it was edible, but not what you would expect for the price. My kids lived on French fries as they were unwilling to eat much of anything else. The hotel was able to get us into another room which had been updated a little, but once again the AC barely worked and it had a strong musty smell which we needed to air out every time we came back to the room. The beds were hard and there was limited hot water. Honestly ranks up there as one of the lowest quality hotels I have ever stayed at. I feel bad for the workers and I know they are stuck and it’s not likely their problem. We tried to tip them well as I am sure they management probably wasn’t taking care of them.
