Look elsewhere…I do not recommend this hotel
Where do I start….definitely good marketing as online the hotel looks pretty descent, but it is not as described and in much worse conditions than they portray. Maybe some purchased reviews or some AI generated videos/pictures? The basic accommodations of the hotel are subpar. It’s old and run down and needs repair. Our first room had ceiling tiles falling and rust on anything that was metal. Our porcelain sink was cracked and had some caulking on it to try and repair it, but it still leaked all over the floor. Beds were extremely hard and AC barely worked. Food quality was pretty low….it was edible, but not what you would expect for the price. My kids lived on French fries as they were unwilling to eat much of anything else. The hotel was able to get us into another room which had been updated a little, but once again the AC barely worked and it had a strong musty smell which we needed to air out every time we came back to the room. The beds were hard and there was limited hot water. Honestly ranks up there as one of the lowest quality hotels I have ever stayed at. I feel bad for the workers and I know they are stuck and it’s not likely their problem. We tried to tip them well as I am sure they management probably wasn’t taking care of them.

Worst Resort Experience Ever – A Complete Marketing Scam
My family and I spent the week of Dec 20th to 27th at Cozumel Cozumeleño, and it was an absolute disaster. I’ve stayed at multiple all-inclusive resorts before, and this was by far the worst. If you value your money, your time, and your holiday spirit—stay away from this place. False Advertising at Its Finest. The glossy photos and descriptions on Expedia and the hotel’s website are pure fiction. The reality? A property that is literally falling apart. All hot tubs were broken, malfunctioning shower doors, loose sink handles, and even a safety deposit box that barely worked. I was terrified I’d lock up our passports and never get them back. Stairs are literally falling apart leaving exposed wired The dining experience was a joke. Bland, repetitive meals with zero creativity. And here’s the kicker—you only get certain items if you know the “secret menu” and ask for them specifically. Ice cream? Sure, but only if you know to ask—and then you’ll get one flavor unless you demand all options. This lack of transparency made every meal feel like a guessing game. We barely ate because the food was simply not worth it. Entertainment? Nonexistent. Christmas Eve at a resort should feel festive. Instead, it was dead silent—no music, no activities, nothing. Guests dressed beautifully for the holiday sat around bored. The pool table was uneven, sticks had no tips, the ping-pong table was broken, and the “gym” was laughable—a tiny closet with one outdated weight machine. The front desk says one thing, the activities desk says another. No one seems to know what’s going on, and guests are left frustrated and confused. The bottom line, this resort is a masterclass in marketing deception. What they promise online is not what you get. I left feeling cheated and angry. Do yourself a favor—book anywhere else.

You get what you pay for.
Location was great. Rooms were average. No mini fridge in the rooms. Staff was great, cleaned every day (even Christmas Day). Check in not the best, kept trying to get us to change rooms. Food was good, no room service that was advertised. Nice place for the value.

Best place to stay in The Caribbean
We always stay at el Cozumeleño when we are in the Caribbean. This is the best hotel with all inclusive meals d drinks. We will return soon.
- AdvisoryThe Municipal Government will be charging all guests in the area of Cozumel a resort fee of $15.00 US per room per night. This amount is not included in your vacation price and will be collected at your hotel. These funds are being used to protect, maintain and conserve the extraordinary beauty of the area.
