Disappointing stay at Dreams Playa Bonita
We stayed at Dreams Playa Bonita from March 4–8, 2026, and unfortunately the experience was underwhelming—especially considering the price and the fact that we paid extra for Preferred status. To start with the positives: the room was nice, the ocean view was beautiful, and most of the staff we encountered were friendly and polite. However, the overall experience did not match what we expected from a premium all-inclusive resort. Dining was one of the biggest disappointments. Only a few restaurants were open on several evenings, which significantly limited dining options, and the food quality was inconsistent with many dishes lacking flavor. Published restaurant hours also did not always match when venues were actually open. There is also supposed to be a second grill/snack location, but it was never open during our entire stay. The most frustrating experience happened on my birthday (March 5, our second night). Because the restaurants do not take reservations, we waited over an hour just to be seated. We later learned a large wedding party was dining that evening. Interestingly, someone from that group apologized to us in the hallway and mentioned they had informed the resort in advance that they would need accommodations. When we returned at the time the hostess asked us to come back, she was gone for another 15 minutes, and once we were seated we waited another 10–12 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. A staff member suggested we dine outside, but the outdoor area was very loud and full of mosquitoes, so we declined. Our room number was taken and we were told management would be notified, but no one ever followed up before we checked out. The following evening, after being underwhelmed by the restaurants, we ordered room service. The menu was extremely limited and the food was bland. The next morning we were told coffee from room service would take approximately three hours, and when it arrived it was lukewarm. Other issues during the stay included: Extra blankets requested at check-in were never delivered Preferred lounge food looked dried out and unappetizing Preferred benefits were minimal, with only two locations offering premium alcohol Very limited evening entertainment Mosquitoes were extremely prevalent around outdoor lounge areas, and the small bug-repellent wipes provided were not sufficient Ants were noticeable in multiple areas around the property Because the food on property was so lackluster, we actually chose to drive off-site for dinner on our final evening — something we have never done at an all-inclusive resort. After checking out we moved to The Westin Playa Bonita Panama, which is located on the same coastline and visible from Dreams. The difference in experience has been dramatic. Even though the Westin is not all-inclusive, the food quality has been far better, restaurants are open when they say they will be, the room service menu is extensive, and there are more amenities and complimentary activities available for guests. The value comparison was surprising as well. We paid approximately $1,700 for four nights at Dreams, while three nights at the Westin cost about $660. Despite costing significantly less, the experience there has been night and day better. In fact, we didn’t take a single photo during our stay at Dreams, which is unusual for us when traveling, but it reflects how underwhelming the overall experience felt. For the price point—and the fact that this property operates under Hyatt Hotels Corporation—the experience fell far below the level of quality we associate with Hyatt-affiliated properties. I hope management reviews these issues so future guests have a better experience. If someone from the resort or Hyatt guest relations would like additional details about our stay, we would be happy to provide them.

good week with a few opportunities for improvement from the facility
Place was very nice and we had a great week. The experience would have been a bit better if Dreams Playa Bonita offered better information prior to the trip on what transportation and excursion they recommended. I tried several times before getting there to speak with someone about exploring outside of the resort and what transportation I would need to get around. Could never speak with anyone in English about that and when I did, they provided me information that turned out to be incorrect. Would never have rented a car had I known the transportation services they did have.

Pretty Resort With Issues - Not a True Hyatt Experience
Beautiful resort, albeit is a little rundown. Sadly, overall it was a disappointing stay. They could do so much better! Maybe because it's all-inclusive? Not a true Hyatt experience and we've been to many. Hospitality of the staff is non-existent unless you want to book an excursion. No emphasis was placed on ensuring guests are happy or accomodated. The buffet food was the same every day: various meat with a sauce on it, noodles, rice, sometimes salad, bread. The best meal was at the Italian restaurant on the night they did a pasta station with a parmesan cheese block. (Just one night) They ran out of top shelf liquor (or didn't serve it in the main bar) and didn't have cold beer at the pool. The beach and ocean wasn't real clean (not really the resorts fault) so we stayed by the pool. The fitness center was seriously a safety hazard with rusty and broken equipment, cycles that were literally a rusty piece of metal with handle bars and didn't work, and some free weights. It's so sad because the resort is pretty and has so much potential! The only person who truly cared about our stay was our maid Beatrice. She was amazing! Our crew had fun despite all the hiccups in service, but I don't think I'd come back here on our dime.

Service is extremely slow
Service was extremely slow at the restaurants and the bars. Preferred club offered nothing. Special. Tables were usually dirty. It’s like they didn’t even care.
