Rude staff. DO NOT BOOK IF IN YOUR 20s-30s.
DO NOT BOOK IF IN YOUR 20s-30s. Staff is rude and very bitter. I went with a small group of girls in our twenties and have never been treated like this at a resort. The staff was unhelpful and rude. We're all of drinking age in the states, let alone in the DR and we were continuously hounded by bartenders about being under age. Even after providing ID, the staff made derogatory comments about our age, one staff member even accused us of faking our passports. When we spoke to concierge, the lady could not have cared less and said we should carry our passports around (on the public beach and to the swim up bar??). This place desperately needs wrist bands for those 18+ like every other resort does because it was honestly ridiculous. I'm fine being ID-ed but the comments were out of hand. Beyond that, the staff acted like we were inconveniencing them by asking simple questions (directions, opening times, etc.). On our last day we were in the water park and one of the lifeguards rudely told (not asked, told) me and my friend to go get him a coffee (no please/thank you just said "coffee me"). We said no and he rolled his eyes. Absolutely ridiculous to ask paying costumers to run errands for him and he would not have said that to older/male patrons. Incredibly disappointed by this experience and will not be booking with Dreams again. We also saw two adults hooking up in the family friendly pool while taking pictures at sunset and when we told the staff they laughed it off as if there weren't children walking around exposed to that.

An Unforgettable Stay – We Can’t Wait to Return!
We just returned from a 5-day vacation at Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, and I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We stayed in a Preferred Club Junior Suite with a pool view (room 5288), and the view was absolutely perfect—overlooking the pool with beautiful surroundings and a slight ocean view that made every morning feel like paradise. The room itself was clean, spacious, and very well maintained, with plenty of room to relax and unwind after a day in the sun. The Preferred Club experience was well worth it. From the exclusive amenities to the elevated level of service, it truly made our stay feel special. A huge highlight for us was our butler, Albert, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely kind—always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. His service really elevated our stay. The restaurants were excellent, with a great variety of options and consistently high-quality food. Every meal felt like a treat, and we appreciated the range of cuisines and attentive service. Mecure was my favorite and highly recommend!

Dreams Onyx is a Caribbean gem
Dreams Onyx is a Caribbean gem. We've been to Dreams Onyx a number of times and have enjoyed it every time. The resort is spotless, with beautifully manicured grounds and beach. Bellman Junior was the first friendly face we met. Each day started with tasty coffee and friendly smiles at the Coco Cafe. We had two comfortable beds, with a dressing area in the bathroom. Plentiful towels in the bath and at the towel hut. Many choices for dining and we didn't have any long wait times. We had breakfast at the buffet, tasty tacos at the Taco Truck or a choice of food at Barefoot Grill for lunch. Dinner at Spice was our favorite, with gracious Graciela. There is something for everyone from the fun pool and beach activities, volleyball, Yoga. They even brought in a dunk tank, and a huge blowup mountain water slide. The water park was a blast. Youngsters have fun at Explorers Club and teens can hangout in the Core Zone. The Entertainment team: Sharina, Vero, Honey Tere, and Lucinda kept everyone busy. We even painted a lovely picture. The parades and shows were great! Adults can also use the facilities at Breathless. Can’t wait to go back!

Relaxing
What an amazing resort. We got in really late, but were still taken by cart to our room, with some areas pointed out and questions answered. It was so quiet and peaceful- we are used to places where bars are open 24 hours, so lots of late night rowdiness- this resort was a relief! No bracelets and no towel cards= no worries! We were preferred, but checked out the buffet for our 1st breakfast just to see what it was like, and were so impressed- it was all so good, and lots of options. We had a preferred room with private pool and bali bed that was beyond expectation. "Drinky time" service right to our bali bed- doesn't get much better! No sargassum/seaweed issues at the beach. It's definitely no Cuban beach, but still lovely. The lazy river was a fun time. Tamarindo and Capers were great dinners. The ice cream shop, frappes at Coco Cafe- delicious! Our butler Henry was always responsive and helpful, and we definitely appreciated him. Don't miss the fire show, it is a fun time as well. Separately, we were disappointed in our excursion to Saona that we booked through our airline rep on site. I did Saona 15 years ago through Pelicano Tours, and it was the most amazing trip, so I wanted to go again. Not sure who our airline set us up with, but it was way too much money for a very mediocre experience. Bizarre multiple bus changes and putting groups together, unusual, sketchy area for the boat. Stopped at a deeper, less clear area of the natural pool, and the Saona beach area was crowded and not at all the beautiful beach area where I had been on my prior visit. Very disappointed in that whole experience. BUT, not resort related, just maybe don't book through your on site rep. Very sad to have had to come home. Still wanted to get to the taco truck, the steak house, see more of Breathless, and I didn't get a chance to get my drink in a pineapple :( - so much more to do! Hopefully there can be a next time...
