Enjoyable Stay In A good Hotel

We spent a week here in November and had a great and very relaxing break, celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary whilst we were away. I wouldn't say the hotel is a 5 star but more a good 4 star. We went Preferred Club, B&B as we like going out and there are some great eateries, particularly in the Harbour - Shibumi and Le Petit Jardin to name but two we would recommend. The room we had was great - the bed very comfortable and the bathroom had everything you might need, even if it wasn't the biggest bathroom we've had. Generally, everywhere was spotlessly clean and well maintained, the exception being the Preferred Club Lounge which felt a little neglected at times there was food debris and dirty plates and glasses left around. The Breakfast was great and there was a really good choice of options from fresh fruit, cooked food to breads to eggs cooked to order and a crepe/waffle station too. We ate in the hotel at Himitsu one evening and were a little disappointed - the food was rather bland and not really authentic Asian cuisine. Although perfectly edible - it just lacked spice/flavour. The Main bar (only bar open in the evening), has entertainment each night and whilst we didn't spend much time there, guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. The only problem for us is that there is no other bar open and being right by the entertainment, it was very busy and rather chaotic (not clear whether it was waiter service or order at the bar). I suspect they didn't quite have the staff to meet demand. Pool area as really good and kept very clean with plenty of sun beds. Staff we met were all great - polite, welcoming and keen to provide excellent service. Catering for the number of guests and AI as well and non AI guests, probably leaves the hotel in "limbo" and makes it impossible to be a truly luxurious five star hotel, but I am not sure that is what they are aiming at anyway, and the price you pay reflects this. Overall a great location and good hotel. It isn't 5 star but a good 4 star and we will most likely return.

    Super November stay!

Fabulous location for Playa Dorada, town and Marina…. Very clean and comfortable ( our room was very well cared for and had super views). The food choices are excellent and the Italian speciality restaurant was just exquisite! The staff are wonderful and work so hard- very warm, friendly and helpful, especially Keren, Miranda and Marta. Thank you for such a lovely holiday. ☀️🥰

This hotel needs to do better

We took our granddaughter on holiday during half term as we usually do and were very disappointed. In comparison with the H10 Rubicon Palace and Gran Castillo Tagoro, our room was very small and the placing of the lavatory in a separate room to the hand basin was badly arranged. Towels were changed as needed but the cleanliness of the room poor. We are a tidy family so surfaces and floors were generally clear but rings where glasses had been placed were generally left. It was unusual for the floor to be mapped and on two occasions the bathroom and lavatory were not cleaned. Whilst the family pool and immediate surround was cleaned every day, the beds were not hosed at all in the 7 days we were there and drinks spilled on the tiles one day were still there the next. The kids club activities were probably more appropriate for under 7 year olds with the exception of a couple of really good events such as the inflatable assault course in the pool. Our Granddaughter made plenty of friend and enjoyed the slides. We all enjoyed the food, particularly in the speciality restaurants but there were no special options for children so many families took children to the buffet first. There was plenty of fish options which were cooked for you. During the week we were there we both experienced severe diarrhoea and vomiting as did several of the people we got to know during our stay. I have read that The Canaries are experiencing outbreaks of various winter viruses but I was concerned by the lack of cleanliness in our room and around the pool. In general the public areas were very clean but hand sanitiser would have been welcomed.

    Disappointed

I will start with the positives the location is great and most of the staff seem to care and want to make your stay exceptional we upgraded to preferred club which have us a great room and access to some beautiful pool areas and bars which we enjoyed and never had an issue with being served at. The main issue I have with Dreams which really stopped us wanting to come back as a family was the food the dining experience in the evenings was awful in the speciality restaurants service is slow and we waited to be seated on a couple of occasions as there is literally one person sitting people and setting them this involves taking a room number then say for example they need a table of six setting up would then go off and do that leaving the queue building at the door the quality was poor and the execution of the dishes were not consistent we were served the same starter completely differently on two separate nights my partner was given a dish in Portafino with no chicken on it as they had run out. There with other guests who had issues with there dishes and to be honest the waiting staff didn't really seem to bothered in what was a pretty depressing way to end your day trying to get another dish organised. We don't feel it was good value for money as the food in the world cafe was much better quality and the staff seemed friendlier than in the restaurants the Preferred club breakfast area was having the same issues seating people and the food was not to the same standard as on the world cafe

Preferred or not... We would have preferred somewhere else

Pros. Good location Rendez vous bar server Alex (did the best he could) Cons We upgraded to Preferred all inclusive When we arrived were offered cava but none arrived. Minibar restock, housekeeping and turndown service hit and miss Buffet Food poor quality with exception of show cooking Asian alacarte was like a pot noodle, perhaps not as tasty Italian ala carte was same as in buffet IF YOU LOVE QUEUEING THIS HOTEL IS FOR YOU as each restaurant the host takes your details and then they take you to the table Even though all inclusive it is difficult to get drinks in evening due to lack of organisation and rude manager who got peoples drinks wrong and served drink with scum on it and told me it was normal Smoking allowed directly outside bar doors so bar stunk of smoke. Filled in surveys on app. No one appeared to care. Not one manager approached us to ash how things were Email sent to customer service who rang me on our last day saying we are here to help! Read the negative reviews and take notice the hotel has been told of a lot of these points on TripAdvisor but do not seem to care. How this got 5 star will never know.
