We loved our trip to Dreams in Mazatlan. We travelled with our 3 month old and 2 year old. We upgraded to the premier side for the bathtub on the balcony and it was worth every penny. Check in was very smooth. The food was very good, if a little repetitive; however, we know we weren’t travelling at peak season going in early December. My biggest “complaint” as somebody with small children travelling was that supper didn’t start anywhere until 6:30. And with small kids who go to bed at 7, especially after all the fun in the sun and the pool, it was a really late start time to sit down and eat. I felt really bad for the families with an even bigger time change than we had. They were STRUGGLING. The ocean isn’t swimmable but that was okay given our stage of life! The pool was incredible. We saw dolphins off the shore 3 mornings and whales 3x throughout the week. Pool service was great and the pizza by the pool was incredible. Definitely would come back :)

Not the experience we expected from a Hyatt
We were very excited about going with our son and his family to this family resort. There was 6 of us in total, 4 adults and 2 grandkids-7 and 5. We booked PC swim out rooms and we were fortunate they were side by side! Pros: only 10-15 minutes from airport-short bus ride great pools and serving staff at both pools temperature of pools were fine- no complaints here housekeeping staff were great room service thru the app was great no reservations for al la cartes was nice and no waits for 6 buffet was good for quick meals meals at poolside were good too drinks were plentiful and pool serving staff were great we even had service at our swim outs- we were in 3000 and 3001 right next to walkway by buffet Make sure you download the Hyatt app-it's very helpful and user friendly Tipping is a must for us-we always tip for good/great service and this is no different- be bring US $ and pesos you can get change in the main lobby of the resort check out the facebook page for this resort it has some great info-ask questions too! Cons: PC was not all it was supposed to be and disappointing until we spoke up no snacks in room daily-pringles and M & M's-we look forward to these little treats no bottle of rum on the shelf by tv as we were promised-we did not complain but it was part of the PC perks had to ask staff to fill bar every day even though we left cash in fridge Portofino-had to sit out on patio with kids-thought this was a family resort? It had just rained and we were soaked by the time we were done Portofino food was not up to Hyatt standards nor was the service and our waiter tried hard Meraki-not good food and service was horrible-waiter was so overworked we were forgotten Oceana-dinner not good-service was worse Buffet-service was horrible and not many choices for food and mostly cold I met 2 men from Dreams/Secrets Punta Mita-Oscar G and Alejandro-both very nice. I was explaining to Oscar about our concerns with consistency in resorts and he wanted to chat more-said he would meet us at the pool. He did and brought paper asking us to write out our concerns. He heard I was going to book a romantic dinner for our son and daughter in law and suggested if we went to a presentation the next morning he would give us a $200 voucher to go towards the dinner, I said no thanks repeatedly until he gave up. We never heard form him again-seems he wasn't interested in our concerns after all! We had a really good time because we took our family but I would not go back to this resort. We paid a lot of money and were disappointed in many of the things as you see in my review. I am open to questions of any kind and will be honest but polite. Not everyone has the same experience or expectations and that is ok

Fantastic
We have not been to Mazatlan before but we really enjoyed our stay at Dreams Estrella del Mar Golf and Spa resort! The food was great and the pool was amazing! Staff attended to our needs at every request. Most of all the service we had at the pool was where we spent most of our time and I celebrated my birthday there as well and it was exceptional!! Our server mostly was Alonso and he treated us like we were very special. Alonso made our visit very memorable. Thank you to all the great staff…..Sandra with the warm wonderful welcome every morning when I came for an omelette and Jennifer for all the little visits to see if we are happy! Off the beaten path but the beach is beautiful and endless!!! Of course the sunsets are a must see!! We would come back!!

Jan 21, 2026A wonderful experience at Dreams in Mazatlan.
We just returned from 10 days at this resort. The resort is great. We enjoyed the various restaurants and bars. The omelette station run by Sandra in the buffet restaurant was very good. While the lineup for omelettes can be long, she has many on the go at once so the wait isn’t too long. We also enjoyed the fresh ceviche that was available a few times a week at the Barracuda Bar. Barefoot Grill was a great place to get a snack or lunch without having to change out of your bathing suit. The rooms were clean and there were lots of activities. Even though it is not recommended to go into the ocean, we enjoyed long walks on the beach. It is one of the better walking beaches we’ve been on in Mexico. While the resort is about 45 minutes from town, this gives you the time to relax at the resort away from the busyness of town. Highly recommend.
