A hard pass! Not recommended!
This is the first resort we've gone to in over 5 years. We have been taking cruises instead. This resort is in great need of maintenance and is mismanaged. Right from the start, we couldn't get into our rooms because the key card system was down. Wedidn't get key cards until past 6 pm. The first day after we arrived, our room wasn't made up until past 6 pm. The Rendez Vous and pool bars were filthy and infested with flies. I wouldn't recommend have frozen drinks at this place. I happened to notice a fly caught inside the island oasis machine at the pool bar. We happened to have a flood in the lobby one day due to a leak which was not fixed right before. We were on the first floor and I noticed a leak from the shower head right at the wall so this may be one of the reasons why there has been so much patchwork to the ceilings in the lobby and buffet. Perhaps the room cleaners can run the shower and report it to maintenance. The bar manager fired the pool bartender right in front of guests and some expletives were heard following this. We thought he was the best worker we had. This should have been handled in a more discreet manner. The pool bar should be torn down and rebuilt. It sits on porous brick which can't be properly cleaned. This should be replaced with ceramic tile. You have a choice of four places to have dinner. Often the food was not warm and just okay. The activity team was very good. A shout out Livy who got everyone involved. We met a couple from Toronto who were upset because they had booked for two weeks so that tells you a lot about their experience as well as many others we spoke with. My wife and I would not recommend this place.

Not like other Dreams
Not like other Dreams! Rent an Air B&B and a car...skip the resort. Island is amazing but this resort is not! No swim up bar or drink servers. Minimal entertainment. Rooms are outdated and need to be more clean. Understaffed. Minimal restaurants and no full cafe. Unsanitary food would be my biggest concern.

IL Mare is great but still learning
IL Mare Bungalows are very nice with all necessary amenities and amazing views. Upon arrival, we were taken to the Dreams hotel to check in and then shuttled to IL Mare where we checked in for the Bungalows. It would be more efficient to have Amstar (airport shuttle) drop off right at IL Mare. We were super excited about the butler service. We asked our butler to bring coffee each morning at 7am. We never received coffee at 7am during our entire 7 day stay. The first couple days we ordered room service so we could eat breakfast on our beautiful patio with an amazing view and it took over 1 hour to receive and was incorrect 50% of the time. After day 3, we stopped ordering room service and went to the restaurant. Breakfast was always very tasty when we finally got it. All of the staff was very friendly and wanted to be helpful. There is a language barrier and some of the butlers were still learning the role. The cleaning staff was amazing. Our room was always clean, supplied with clean towels and most nights had turn down service. Service is slow but somewhat expected....island time. We ordered food pool side and received our order 2 hours later. When it was received, it was good, just took forever. The menus that are on the Inclusive app for the restaurants were not correct which was a little frustrating. Overall, our stay was good. We had a great time, the room was clean, people were helpful. We would return and try it one more time. Maybe with IL Mare being open a little longer, they will get the kinks worked out.

Not Worth It
This trip was wholly disappointing, and there is not a lot of value for the money. The hotel is dated (though it supposedly went through a reno in 2019), and you do not get the service you would expect. We got married at the Dreams in Cancun, and the experience was worth every cent (and they had construction going on, mind you!). Hyatt has recently taken this brand over, and it is definitely subpar to their standard. That being said, the hotel is clearly struggling financially, the staff does not have enough equipment and tools to do their jobs effectively. The F&B offerings, to be fair, were pretty good (minus the snack bar, which was horrible), and the staff in those spaces were friendly and professional. The Rooms side leaves much to be desired. Included in that, is waiting 2.5 hours after check in time to get a room, traveling from NJ with two toddlers under 2. To exacerbate the situation, we were checked in to a room with no towels (and they are in short supply throughout the hotel), and that had not fully been cleaned. By stay's end, the best Hyatt wanted to do was offer Hyatt points, which did not cover the inconveniences we experienced. Do yourself a favor and book the Marriott down the road. There is a far different vibe there and you see it and feel it from the moment you step on to their property.

Small Resort with Potential
We traveled with a group of family/friends (15 adults). I had seriously lowered my expectations for this resort based on the reviews... It honestly was not that bad of a resort. This is a small resort that wasn't originally built to support the all inclusive model. It isn't luxury or top of the line, but it's sufficient. If you're expecting to be pampered like you might find in Mexico or the Dominican Republic, you will be disappointed. Could the rooms use some updating? Sure, but the bed was decent, the shower was hot, and the AC worked well. The room was not damp/wet, which was a pleasant surprise, especially since my Damp Rid was taken at the airport (in the US)! Ha. There are only 3 specialty restaurants for dinner and the buffet wasn't open every night for dinner. However, they did set up a nacho/fajita stand near the lobby bar one night (the chicken was great) and there were various other food options throughout the week in a similar fashion. The entertainment team does a great job. The crowd interaction is stellar. Several of the entertainment team members (dancers) came to work early on our departure day, to see us off. That was a nice touch! Livy & team were great! Mekayl (sp) at the pool bar, De Shaun & the entire bartending team at the lobby bar were great! The Coffee on the Beach drinks were the best! Rent a car (Wheels to Go), if you're traveling during high season, book ahead of time, explore the island! Curacao is beautiful!
