Exceptional service!!
10-night stay – February 17–27, 2026 Travelled with two other couples. After lots of research, we booked a Preferred Marina Room for 10 nights, and our friends did the same. From the moment we arrived (cold towels after the hour drive from Cancun!), we felt welcomed and taken care of. We stayed in Room 427 overlooking the Preferred pool and marina - a great view. The resort is smaller, which we loved. Everything is a short walk, it’s beautifully maintained, very clean, and has a relaxed boho vibe. Our room was spacious, spotless, and exactly as pictured. The AC worked perfectly (almost too well!), the bed was super comfortable with a pillow menu, and the minibar was well stocked. The bathroom was bright and roomy. Minor issues: slightly worn couch and an occasional sewage smell that came and went - not a major concern. I had read mixed food reviews and was worried - no idea why. The food was excellent. Portofino (Italian) was so good we went twice. Seaside Grill and Oceana were fantastic. Gohan was just okay, and we didn’t make it to the Mexican restaurant. The World Café buffet always had plenty of great options, and the beach hut lunches (burgers, tacos, nachos) were delicious. Mexican Night at the pool was outstanding. I’d rate the food 9/10, and my group agreed. Great wine (the Chilean options impressed me), strong margaritas, and plenty of drink choices. One friend is gluten intolerant and always had options. The pools are on the smaller side but heated, which was lovely. The only real downside was the lack of loungers - early chair-saving is an issue. The beach has a man made reef, which meant we could swim every day, even in high winds. While I missed the wide-open ocean views, the calm lagoon was clean, clear, and perfect for swimming. Would I return? Absolutely, 100%. The staff made this the best resort experience I’ve had. Every single person - from housekeeping to restaurants to concierge - was warm, friendly, and welcoming. Special thanks to Paulina, Francisco, Adriana, Xavier all who made us feel extra special. The service truly made the trip exceptional.

Staff is second to none
This was our third time visiting Dreams Aventuras. There were many changes since our last visit one year ago. Some changes were great and others not so much. The best change is definitely the Mexican restaurant El Patio. The new menu is so much better. It now includes chicken, sea bass and pork dishes instead of the beef centric menu of the past. El Patio also has one of the best desserts on the resort, the key lime tart. Another positive change is the addition of a preferred beach section. There are still those people who ignore the signage stating no saving of loungers before a certain time. But what can you do? It’s the same at most resorts. I feel bad for the staff who try so hard to make everyone happy, dragging loungers and chairs here and there. Also on the subject of preferred stays…they have added signage stating that children under a certain age are not permitted in the hot tub, and at Manatees swim up bar. Again, people tend to ignore the signs, and staff are constantly asking them to leave the area. While this is a family friendly Dreams property, it is nice to have a bit of a break from the kids now and then. Many Dreams resorts have preferred only pools or sections, not just a small section. The preferred lounge/check-in has also moved since last year. This is another positive change. Although the lounge doesn’t have any windows, there are plenty of seats. The food in the lounge also seems to stay hotter now for some reason. As preferred guests we were given access to a personal concierge (another change) but although we were supposed to be able to contact her through WhatsApp, she didn’t respond to any of the three messages that we sent so we just asked one of the other preferred concierge’s. The others were very helpful. The biggest negative change for us was the change in staff. The entertainment crew just isn’t as engaged with the guests as they used to be. They spend a lot of time talking among themselves instead of getting the guests involvedDuring our two week stay we were approached only once by one team member. I’m sure some people will prefer this, but we need to have encouragement in order to join in. Also, the Crazy Games no longer have “adult” prizes (booze) so that’s disappointing. Other staff changes seem to include the chefs who seem to not know the difference between rare and anything else. Our preference for steak is medium rare which came rare. For our next steak we ordered medium which came rare. We worked up to medium well and it also came out rare. We did finally send it back asking for it to be cooked a bit longer. The same was true for the salmon that we had from Oceana which needed to be sent back as it was raw. Never had to ask for my salmon to be cooked before, it wasn’t sushi that was ordered. These chef’s were at three different a’la carte restaurants as well as the Barefoot grill ( raw hamburger) so I believe they were different people but I can’t be sure. It seemed that the meals were being sent out quickly and not much care was taken for the orders to be done properly. The resort was at almost full capacity during most of our stay so I think that made a difference. We didn’t get the survey sent to our email that we usually get so we won’t be singling out those staff members who stood out for us, mostly because they won’t get the recognition from the resort. The staff really do work tirelessly to make sure guests are happy but they can’t be everywhere at once and can’t please everyone. All that said, we won’t likely return to Dreams Aventuras and hopefully will find another resort that suits our tastes like this place used to.

Wonderful week at Dreams Aventuras
This was our fifth visit to this resort. We love Dreams Aventura for its size, staff, and location. Over the last five years we have had a variety of rooms, but this year we opted for a swim out room, which was fantastic. Our swim out was on the preferred pool side of the hotel, which was perfect to enjoy the late afternoon sun (by 2 or 3pm (depending on the month) the main pool is almost completely shaded). We travelled with 2 families and had a group of 13, ages ranging from 11-76. I will start with the PROS: The staff - from servers at restaurants (Teresita at Oceana) to pool side servers (Jorge is the BEST), we always had amazing service. They work so hard and are warm and friendly. The entertainment staff was top notch this year. A special mention goes to Abigail and Edwin who took time out of each day to connect with the teens in our group, tried to teach us how to dance, taught us new games, and really got to know our families. Aby even gave our girls hand painted pieces of art when we left. They accommodated our request to play an old crazy game favourite, and made our week so special. Thank you, Abigail and Edwin! The food was good in my opinion. Some in our group were more disappointed than others. But each meal had several tasty dishes. The habanero soup at El Patio is amazing. Chia pudding, French toast, and the salmon toast were breakfast favourites at Oceana. The drinks are always food - lots of name brand liquor at the preferred bars and the all time best bartender in the world, Adalberto, can be found in the lobby bar most nights. He never disappoints and makes the best drinks. The town - we LOVE the town. We walk for an hour or so every morning. There is always something new to see and we feel 100% safe. Rooms - our AC never disappoints, the showers are hot, and the housekeeping is top notch. We always had a clean room and fresh towels. Upon checking in, we were disappointed with the state of some of our furniture in our room. It was either badly stained or had spill marks all over it. Within hours, they had either removed the dirty furniture or cleaned what was there. They definitely took our requests to heart and did what they could to fix it. The CONS- There seemed to be a larger number of weddings this year. We love to see weddings - seeing the bride and groom on their special day is always very joyful. However, this year the resort continuously closed parts of the hotel because of the weddings. Out of the seven days we were there, the beach volleyball court was closed for three of them. This is a pretty big deal if you have 6 teenagers who love volleyball in your group. The Mexican restaurant was closed several times, and so was the swing bar. I completely understand that couples pay a hefty price to have their wedding at a resort. However, the hotel should not take away part of the facility that all guests pay for. If the resort would like to continue hosting so many weddings, they need to make accommodations for this, and build a wedding venue. The evening entertainment also seemed to fall short this year. I am not sure if their theatre is broken, but most evening entertainment took place by the preferred pool. This meant that several days of the week the staff had to completely shut down the preferred pool area around 4 PM. There also seemed to be a lack of shows, with several evenings having no entertainment, other than live music in the lobby, which is already overcrowded and exceptionally loud. Will we return? Absolutely. We still love dreams adventurous and for the few cons that we experienced, we experienced many more pros. The staff are really what makes this resort such a gem. We appreciate them and love seeing them each year.
