Too much work + ancient systems and amenities

I travel around the world a lot. I'm not fussy. I don't even want cleaning during my stay. But I do want things to be simple and easy at a hotel when I've travelled all the way from Australia. This hotel makes things hard because they're nick and diming everything, and frankly, I don't want to waste time when I'm spending thousands to visit Disney World. (1) Water is obtained through paper vouchers that you need to exchange downstairs each day. How about just placing two bottles in the room at the start of the stay at least? It's not a luxury in Florida, especially as it was a record heatwave during my stay (100F and 80-90% humidity). (2) Breakfast was also obtained via paper vouchers, even when included as part of the paid booking. I did not receive the vouchers when I checked in so ran into hassles at my second breakfast when I was presented with a bill. I then had to go back to reception to get the vouchers, but when I arrived home I saw I was still charged in the end. $23 for a few spoons of powdered eggs and a bowl of fruit. I ended up not going to breakfast on day 3 and buying my own yoghurt from the store to avoid being charged again. A modern resort should have an electronic system for keeping track of patrons whose breakfast is included beyond little scraps of paper. Or simply make it an inclusion for all guests. (3) There is a resort fee of $23 per day. Another scrap of paper informed me this included wifi, the two bottles of water, and physical DVD rentals. Come on! A complimentary few bottles of water and wifi should be basic inclusions not resort features, and certainly should not cost $23 per day. The physical DVD rentals are so bizarre. I just stayed at a Hyatt Place in Gainesville where the TVs allowed you to stream Netflix etc. from your own devices, and we travel back to 2000 at the Hilton Doubletree to have to physically borrow DVDs. Time to upgrade to smart TVs or dispense with this charge. Frankly, it's embarrassing for a Hilton Hotel to be operating in this way as if it's a convenient and desired inclusion to borrow DVDs when physical media are not even sold any longer. (4) It was great to have such a large suite, but clearly the age of the property is showing in the smell of the place. There's an overwhelming pot pourri scent throughout the hotel that I think is trying to mask the smell of age and need for a full refurbishment.

    Great time

Brenda was an amazing host. We met her several times during my trip she checked on us and helped us gain points and become members. Ice cream, cocktails, and other toiletries were readily available. The bars were amazing and the employees have been so nice and helpful, I will definitely be back soon.

    A great stay

Was very happy with our stay at the Doubletree. All rooms were large with great facilities. Only 1 mile from Disney Springs Friendly staff. We checked in early and paid an extra $35 for early checkin - well worth it and enabled us to go straight out to the parks.

    Will not be back

This hotel was chosen for its amenities. There is no actual restaurant, no room service, no pool bar and I intended to spend a week of relaxing by the pool with a book but it was closed for a “photo shoot” without warning. Apparently the family in the photo shoot and their children were enjoy their day. Pillows have no stuffing but bed is comfortable. Between the lack of advertised amenities and the traffic in this area, I do not recommend this hotel if you are looking to spend a vacation relaxing.

    Excellent stay

Wonderful family weekend. As a retired road warrior with Diamond status staying in Hilton brand hotels throughout the US and a few in Europe and Asia, I can attest the staff were courteous, friendly and professional. I have stayed in many Double Tree hotels and this one was clean and well maintained. My 4 year old granddaughter loved the connecting suites. Room service was excellent and as I was checking out, the desk agent reminded me that I still had a $30 F&B credit.
