Quirky Little Hidden Jewel
This was our second stay at this little gem of a little hotel. Located at NDSM Wharf on the site of what was once a large shipbuilding yard. By my count, fewer than 100 rooms. This part of Amsterdam (according to our Dutch river cruise captain) was once the poor part of the city but is now trendy and rapidly growing. While there are a growing number of things in the vicinity, you travel to and from the Centraal Train Station wharf by free ferry - a fun (to me) 15-minute trip that runs continuously (maybe not all night). Our first stay was in August, and we were upgraded to a standard, water-view room on an upper floor. The room was pretty small but cleverly designed. We liked it. Their restaurant was under renovation, and breakfast was served (nicely) in their meeting room. Reception is in their small, relaxed lobby. We felt well appreciated both times. On our second visit, we stayed for two nights prior to a river cruise. Our stay - upgraded to a larger corner room - was even better. Restaurant renovation now complete, the restaurant us now an Asian fusion restaurant, physically but not business-ly attached to the hotel except for breakfast. We had dinner there, and it was pretty good. Again, we can't say too many nice things about this hotel. Everyone there was nice and very, very helpful. The rooms were well maintained and quite clean. The corner rooms, while still kinda tight, were much better and worth the extra price. Don't let me forget a very nice note in the room acknowledging the fact that we were returning guests. Again, we really liked the location. Maybe not everybody would, but we did. And the staff - Reception, Housekeeping and Restaurant - made our stay special.

BEWARE We stayed there for a night and next day after checkout my credit card was charged a extra fee for cleaning. It was a scam as the cleaning staf had vandalised the room and took a video after our check out and wrongly charged us for the things which were wrongly done after our check out. The room was proper all the garbage was put in the garage bags but the video which they made showed completely wrong. They have started a new scam of charging the guests for completely false allegations. BEWARE

Great views
Amazing reception by Aaron (hope I got it right!) upon arrival. We took a corner room overlooking Amsterdam, which was a fantastic experience by itself. Also love the location, calm while a few minutes away from ams central station by boat. The only downside for me this time was the breakfast, for instance the cereals were stale (the welcome cookie was better than anything served there unfortunately!).

Excellent
Although the rooms are extremely compact, it was appreciated that a free puff rare was received. Breakfast was fine, staff friendly. The hotel is just a two minute sell from the complimentary F4 ferry which runs every fifteen minutes to Centraal Station.
