Good base for visiting the city
We stayed in this hotel February 2023 and booked through British Airways. We were able to leave our baggage while we explored the city as it was too early to go to our room. The location I would say is great, the ferry is so accessible and goes straight to central station where you can walk around the main attractions of Amsterdam. We had an issue with our stay being ‘paid for’ the reception staff told us we had to pay for our stay even though we booked a package stay through British airways and paid it all many weeks before we travelled. This was quite stressful and we almost felt like no one believed that we had already paid for our stay not the best start to our holiday. This issue was never resolved even when we left we were allowed to stay but we’re never reassured at all. If you booked through British airways maybe check before you travel that they have paid the hotel properly. The room was nice but quite small but adequate for 2 girls. There is a supermarket nearby which is good for baked good for breakfast before going into the city. Overall was a good base for our busy trip.
Very expensive for a terrible service! Not the Hilton standard you'd expect
Very expensive for below mediocre service.. not at par with other Hilton hotel services! Upon check in (April 14, evening) there was no water in the room. I called and asked for water and was told it is only given to Hilton members, and I am! I told them I am a member and I was told by the female staff at the reception that I should go downstairs to get water! Seriously?! Is this a hostel that you can't bring water to the room?! So I insisted and they brought 1 small bottle! And I asked why only 1, and was told by the female staff it is because I don't have a companion!! She also told me to just drink water from the tap! Regardless if tap water is potable or not, there ahould be bottled water provided! The standard for hotels is to have at least 2 bottles upon check in! The staff even told me I should be polite (because I asked for explanantiom why only 1 bottle can be given to me). I have always said "please" and if asking for explanation is impolite to her, what does she think of frowning at guest? She even told me I am just a new member hence.. I paid almost Euros 300 per night and you can't give me 2 small bottles of water?! The female staff was also frowning at me as I requested. Even slippers were missing! I was told it is for selected rooms only, but eventually they gave me a pair. The service is really terrible. I booked the room with river view and it was TINY!!! I could barely fit to walk to the bathroom once opened my luggage! The toiletry dispensers were empty! was about to take a shower when I arrived onlynto discover there was no shampoo and shower gel in the dispensers! Couldn't the check before someone checks in?! The bed headboard was dusty!!! The safety box could not be opened!! I locked my valuables inside and it just shut off! The staff came and checked and at first was not itnerested but then I insisted that I needed my passport. She then came again with new batteries, unscrewed and put it back. We were able to open and got my stuff. Before leaving I tried locking it empty and again, it could not be opened! I just ignored and did not use it again, not worth the stress. Breakfast is enough and restaurant staff were nice. also liked the location, far from the crowd with convenient ferry access. I think these are the only positive. Worst Hilton experience!
You don’t get what you booked - no recommendation
We booked a room with a nice view of the river. Instead we got a room with big bars in front of the windows. We payed so much for this hotel and especially for the view, very disappointing. Adding to that we couldn’t sleep a minute in this hotel. The walls are so thin, we heard everything from our neighbors, they were coughing and talking the whole night. It couldn’t be worse. Not recommended at all!
Perfect location, great staff. You won’t regret booking.
Perfect from start to finish, we had a bad experience at another hotel and we were treated so well here in comparison. Warm cookies on arrival, beautiful room with a view. Staff super helpful. Couldn’t have asked for more. We were also recommended some excellent restaurants by reception and ate the best food on their recommendations. If I return to Amsterdam I’d stay here.
Their walls are made from paper. When you go to the hotel you don't want to hear stomach problems from the next room or someone climaxing. The lighting in the room is depressing, the light intensity is incorrect. Perhaps the idea was to make the guests go to sleep right away, but as I mentioned above, this is not possible due to the noise. Cleanliness is fine, bed is comfortable. The route from central station is easy.
